Polly takes a deep breath. Just don’t do a Polly this time around or it might be the last thing you do. And she digs in to he components pouch and readies herself to cast some magic. But she feels the anxiety that follows every time she is about to do magic in front of others. “Right. Cause that doesn't put any pressure on us..” she mutter so none but Owis hear.
"Good thing ye got me at the back. I can take advantage of the bottle necking and git a two fer one by aiming the closest to me. Ye should be safe 'long as I do that." Fran would give Adray a wink. She'd finish cocking her bolt into place and hold her crossbow ready.
Tarina clapped her hands "All set then, we blow them down smartly - nobody is wiser, they stop the chase. Just remember, give no quarters - they'll kill you like a fly if you let your guard." "Oh, you see the lad running up - don't shoot. Lanny is on look out for me there".
When you get back to the central room it was empty - whether it was the sight of kenku, shouting scary warnings, or the clear messages itself, but locals moved out of the dangerous zone and future battlefield belongs to you now.
Pirates, though, were in no hurry: 5, 10, 15 minutes... Tarina sat still as a stone on her table with a crossbow pointing between Fran and Polly. At last a small boy darted up, stumbled for a moment as he saw Adrey, but quickly recovered and run to Tarina: "Six! And two by the doors! Asking for you! One is with bad eye!" He froze in exciting expectation, but Tarina throw him a coin and pointed at the door behind her. Boy dived in, while you could hear heavy footsteps of many feet on the stairs. They were not careful - at first, but as soon as two front bandits saw Adrey, there movements become more collected. Not sure who are you, they continue to move up, not warning those behind them yet.
Roll initiative!
----------------------------------
Now, unless you attacked before pirates could look up the first time - they saw you. Still, since you are not an obvious threat, and three girls are out of direct line of sight (Ordrag too, actually), I say even Adray can claim a Surprise attack.

Leaning against the wall at the top of the steps, Adray turned a casual glance at them as they approached. He remained still as they group noticed him, slowed their heavy foot falls and continued their approach. During this he still remained still. Then when the lead man was just a few he held out his hand and said, "5 silver cover charge..." He timed it so his words would be midsentence when the man nearly reached the top step. Then he lashed out with his leg to kick the man in knee to throw his momentum forward and then grasp his head with the open hand he had been feigning a request of payment with and forced his head down at a faster rate where his knee is now waiting to smash into his face.
Lets get this started :)
surprise round:
Action: (shove/trip attack) my athletics: 23 against his athletics or acrobatics
Bonus action: unarmed strike attack Attack roll 1: 10 Second roll in case the pirate was tripped and Adary gets advantage: 10 Damage: 5
Initiative rolls: 6 + intuitive die from racial feature 2 = 26
Ordrag smirks as Adray delivers his clever ploy and then kicks and knees the lead bandit. He's seen their like plenty of times before, the classic seafaring ruffian, but these guys look like they know their stuff. Ordrag slowly pulls out his scimitar and shortsword, and prepares himself for a fight.
At his first opportunity, Ordrag will attack the lead bandit with both weapons. (Getting in early in case I can't post later)
OOC: Missed that about the about the surprise attack. I think Choir will actually blow a spell slot and cast Bless on Ordrag, Adray and Polly.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Calculations (still weight!):
We are dealing with pirates, truly used to fighting, climbing, jumping and all kind of movements on the moving surface. Hence, I see the DC for any of this as "easy" - DC 10 and no disadvantages with one exception - first round where DC raises to "moderate" for the first 2.
Pirate 1: Strength check 7
Pirate 2: Dexterity check (vs 15 for that round only) 9
Both fall down and stop in the intersection. Damage: P1 (fall damage plus second attack from Adray) 6 + 5
We can speed up process and make a collective initiative for PC and NPC. So, for you now it will be 68 vs Pirates 74 (9,11, 7, 5, 15, 16)
Looks like Pirates win. But we can switch to one-by-one turns.
The ruse worked - pirates did not expect the attack and Adray managed to land 2 attacks on the first bandit, showing him down the stairs. Second pirate was not able to dodge the falling body and both pirates rolled down and stopped at the intersection. Bruised and very angry they are trying to stand up now. You can hear swearing and bellowing from down below. The real fight is about to begin now.

You could hear a light tink on the railing from Fran giving a swift tap of her wrist against it, triggering a mechanism strapped to her arm under her jacket sleeve. She’d gesture that same hand over the railing in a fist, causing her jacket sleeves to pull away to reveal some of the contraption. Fran would open her hand, fingers pulling a string connected to it and release an acid bubble on top of the pirates.
She’d be aiming for square 2 and hope to also hit buddy 5ft next to him.
[Surprise Round for Fran. At first I thought it was just Adray. But if this is too late from a cross post with them getting sent down the stairs, please accept as my action when it comes to Fran’s turn so I’m not fussing things up with my delay :) ]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When fallen pirates landed in the intersection, two things happened at once (besides surprised and angry swearing): a magical light covered them and then green bubble flopped a step above, splashing both with some liquid (the smell made your eyes teary).
There was a short pause, but then stream of pirates rushed the stairs as a if they were storming the ship. First came a big guy that tried to knock down Adray. Next one did not run anywhere but stopped in the middle rooting himself on the spot with hands on one wall and feet firmly press against another in a way, that allowed so the big burly man with a huge scar across his obviously dead eye use him as a step to jumped over guardrails, landing behind the line of heroes. The last pirate repeated the maneuver, allowing his life "step" to climb too.
Dead Eye (as it obviously was him) saw perfectly well with his remaining eye and spotted Tarina right away. He threw a dagger at her (missing an inch!) on the way to the table, where she were sitting, getting his scimitar ready.
P3 (attacking Adray) managed to shove him off, slamming to the wall behind.
P4 (the "step") rushed to help the boss with Tarina.
P5 (last one) found the most dangerous un-engaged defender and attacked Ordrag with the scimitar.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At Pollys next turn she will move over to h9 (beside the couch)
Once again Polly grabs inside the pouch and grabs some sand and rose petals. She take a deep breath and try to cast sleep again. This time at dead eye, P4, P5 and Tarina. The edge of the spell will just hit P5. She start the incantation but mispronounce it and has to start over again, this time she is successful.
if P5 is awake, she whacks him with her warhammer!
If P5 is asleep and P4 is awake, she runs to whack him instead!
If P4 and P5 are both asleep, she will run to i4 and whack P3.

Adray gets pushed back against the wall and let's out a small grunt as the others start to rush up. He calls out "Nibs, protect the girl." He then swings around with his right fist aiming for the man's jaw. He steps back expecting the swing. Adray, not losing momentum spins and connects with his left elbow.
Fran pulls up her mask scarf over her nose to protect herself from the familiar smell. She'd follow the pirates with her crossbow, with genuine surprise of their tactics to get up and over. Another tink could be herd when taps her wrist against the side of her crossbow this time to reload her wrist mechanism for another acid splash.
"Aye, Tarina, watch yer eyes." Fran would take advantage of Polly's sleep affect on P4 and D, sending her Acid Splash their way.
If they're unconscious they would automatically fail their save yes? Aiming for P4 first to bounce to D.

Fran would nod to Adray. She'd simply pull out her cross bow and begin loading it with a bolt. "How do ye feel about acid?"
Fran would reach over and give Polly, the closest person to her, a clap on the shoulder. "I got yer back."
