Rixtonrolls his eyes, as he gives up on the mess of a scene. "Against a pair of bugbears, we managed to not get ourselves killed. More than that and it'd be even odds we all survived," Rixtonsays. "At least the way we worked together. There's...room for improvement."
Rixtonapproaches the scroll merchant's wagon and examines the ground around the wagon, the scroll containers, torn scrolls, and the wagon itself for clues as to whether or not there was another party involved, separate from the bugbears. As he works, he talks.
"We must devise a way to divide up any adventuring spoils," he says. "Pool it into a singular account for party business to be divided as needed in periodic payments. Or...divide it and track individually. As we go, as it were."
"The other thing that springs to mind," he says as he traces his fingers through a possible foot print to test the softness of the soil. "Is that we are total novices as a team. Kai and I developed a bit of a pattern for part of that fight, but the haphazard way we threw about magic and attacks was, frankly, embarrassing."
His attention is drawn to the cargo and he loses the train of his ramblings. Investigation: 10
Kravek looks around to see the group wander randomly each one going about their own business. Remembering this band is nothing like a northern party he is used to. Just a bunch of people tossed together.
Seeing Kallak wander off towards where the bugbears went: Kallak wait! Its not wise to follow them, we dont know how many of them were hiding in the woods. We should stick together, the roads are clearly not safe. He says as he looks at the dead horses.
Looking around for a moment Palisade, store the valueable goods in your bag. We can determine what to do with it later. If we are done investigating this we should keep moving. We are still on an open road. ...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Just so I'm clear, the bugbear was tearing at and seemingly eating the horse?)
Kallak just takes a look to see the direction of the bugbears, trying to see if they sound like they've skedaddled or if they're still lurking. She doesn't move far at all from the group. Just trying to gather information to allow them to survive the road. She also wants to look closely, when she returns, at the horses and try to piece together how the bugbears arrived, who was here first, which way the cart was headed, etc. (Survival: 18)
When she returns, she says, "Wasn't following. Just looking."
Palisade nods as he moves to begin putting things that can fit into his bag inside it, continuing to watch Malizath as he sends him out to go close to the other members of the party that want to mov ahead. Slowly the imps shifts to the form of a crow.
Kai makes his way over to the cart with the others. He hands Palisade 32 copper, 48 silver, and 7 gold. "There's some serviceable weapons and armor on that one, and a ruined bolt of silk if you really want it. Other than that," he nods to the coins, "not much on the brute."
"As for our fighting, I think it went swimmingly!" Kai mock fights a bit as if he held a rapier. Then in a sing-song voice, "Rixton who dashes with spear. Quick! He slashes without fear!"
Having appropriately annoyed Rixton with his focus, he drops the play and just smiles. "So what's the plan 'gang'? We going to take vengeance for these wayward travelers!"

You pick up on a set of track and the sun is hitting the road just right where you can essentially see the whole scene play out in your head. There looked to be an ambush. It was planned. Planned so well that it looked like they had probably done it a million times. You can see prints set into the dirt a bit deeper than the others noting that this is where certain bugbears stood for a longer period of time. You reckon these bugbear will probably be back tomorrow and will probably be here the day you return. It seems the carts were passing each other the scroll cart was headed out of the city and the general store cart was heading in. After the ambush -- it looks like the bugbear clan was sent to bring the spoils back to camp while the two in charge that you met fed on the horses for a victory lunch.

Keep the roads safer or continue on our mission. Both have honorable goals.
Kravek will not say more and simply watch the group and cross his arms standing stoically. Waiting for a choice and someone to step up and take the lead.
"Let them fend for themselves if they come through. We have another goal to get done." Malizath says as he flies around boredly, going quiet as he gets a small glare from Palisade.
"A simple note won't do. We need to leave a sign of the danger here," Rixton says, stepping carefully around the gruesome scene. "Kallak, if you don't mind, we could use your axe. We'll post one of the horse's heads a half mile back the way we came and another one up ahead half a mile."
Rixtonhefts one bloody head into his arms...it is quite heavy...and walks back the way they came for about 7 or 8 minutes before he finds a stout stick to plant in the ground. Then he mounts the horse head on it as best he can before heading back to meet up with the party. (If no one else does likewise with the other head, Rixtonwill pick that one up and carry it half a mile along the road and put it on a makeshift pike there.)
(OOC: I've asked this before, but would Kallak know if bugbears typically act this way? Especially this far south? Basically is this unusual...)
if you were home in the northern kingdom inside the walls this would be deplorable. Each kingdom is very civilized. However, out in the lawless lands between kingdoms it is much more common. It might be a shock to you if you don’t travel between kingdoms much and especially for you because of your familiarity of monster races being civil and pretty regular.

Olive is halfway into a bottle and comes up for breath to answer to Rixton, "Wokr.. worked though!"
Rixton rolls his eyes, as he gives up on the mess of a scene. "Against a pair of bugbears, we managed to not get ourselves killed. More than that and it'd be even odds we all survived," Rixton says. "At least the way we worked together. There's...room for improvement."
You don't find any additional spoils
Kallak wanders off to where the Bugbear Chief ran off to. They are off somewhere in a wooded area, if you want to track them survival please :D

Easy targets.. He mumbles to himself.
"Kravek is right. Let's get moving. This place was chosen to attack a wagon for a reason," Rixton says.

Rixton sighs. "Well, we could post warnings down the road, I suppose. Or we could see this through. We should probably do something, though."
Olive starts walking in the direction they were initially heading, "Didn't we have a job to do?"
Hmm, well we have to make a choice. Kravek says.

"A warning sign is the least we can do, I suppose," Rixton says. "Olive is right, though. We were not hired to clear the road of dangers."

Kallak's eyebrows rise when Rixton mentions horse heads, but she nods again and tromps off to further butcher the horses and hands off two heads.
