Tangle resumes her half-elf persona as they walk the road. She stays ahead of the group about sixty feet, with Auntie flying high above. She keeps her eyes peeled for trouble.

Balmar nods at Torvins words "Your right it's down right unnatural." Keeping his eyes on the woods around them he still seems a bit perturbed that he was very little help on the last battle.

The remainder of the journey is uneventful, and you arrive in Beliard the night of the second day. 

Orchards and large cattle ranches surround the little town of Beliard. Large stockyards lie on the east side of town, and stone warehouses along the Dessarin Road indicate the regular caravan traffic that passes through.

The Watchful Knight Inn is by far the most popular establishment in the town, and lanterns hanging from posts outside the inn bathe the building in a warm orange glow. The low murmur of conversation drifts from the open windows and into the street.

Dawani will slip inside and get a tab set up for the group and some rooms. She'll try to haggle the price of she can.

Tangle casts invisibility on Auntie, who perches on her shoulder as she heads into the establishment. Tangle orders a warm meal and tries to find a table, preferably against a wall. While she waits she closes her eyes, and watches through Auntie's as the dragon jumps amongst the rafters, looking down, watching and listening in on conversations.  For the time being Tangle just watches, and occasionally and slowly eats her meal and drinks a cup of cider or tea.  Tangle Perception:  21.  Auntie's perception: 18

Balmar sits with the other looking around the crowd for anyone that may have more that just a passing interest in the motley group.

Coldin looks around at the patrons, trying to find anyone who looks like they may have been a soldier or mercenary at one point.

After 45 minutes of watching and listening, Tangle will get up and approach someone who seems to be from town and seems likely to talk.  "Hi there. Sorry to disturb your fine evening. I've been sent here in search of the delegation from Mirabar that was meant to come through here a couple weeks ago. I'm wondering if you know if they ended up coming through town or not."

The proprietor of the Watchful Knight offers Dawani six rooms at the price of five silver pieces a room, and their meal and drinks on the house.

He looks at Sparks uncomprehendingly when the kenku speaks in Thieves’ Cant. “One of them furren languages, is it?” He asks, scratching his head.

Balmar and Coldin pick out a gnome with wild blonde hair and a man who looks like he could outwrestle a bear conversing in low voices. From their stained travel clothes and rusted weapons, you surmise that the two are mercenaries.

Tangle pulls up a chair beside a a cattle drover who introduces himself as Eann. “Aye, I ran into the delegation couple o’ miles south of ‘ere.” He says in response to Tangle’s question. “Didn’t give it much thought at the time. But a couple o’ hours later five riders in cloaks o’ sky-blue swept overhead, goin’ in the same direction as the delegation. Mounted on giant vultures they was.” He shakes his head. “It weren’t no coincidence, neither, if ye’ care for the opinion o’ an old cattle drover such as myself.”

Coldin will wander over to the gnome and the man, "Excuse me gen'lemen. Was wonderin' if'n ya had 'eard anything about the delegation tha' came through 'ere a few days ago. We're lookin' for 'em and any 'elp would be greatly appreciated."

Dawani will pay the 3 gold for the rooms. She'll then ask if she can try to earn it back with a song or two and pull out her viol.

If allowed Dawani will begin playing.

The gnome eyes you suspiciously as he rolls a copper coin across his knuckles. “What’s in it fer us?” He whispers, and then coughs violently. The man watches impassively, his arms crossed.

Sparks to the barkeep...

"So, what do you guys know about this missing delegation? Anything?" In Tangle's voice.

Coldin lets out a large sigh before pulling two silver from his pcokets and holding them up. "An upgrade on yer coin there. An' one for yer friend as well."

Tangle will slide a silver over to Eann.  "Thanks very much sir, I appreciate it."  She gets up, walks around the room tapping each team member, "I'll be up in a room when you're done here. I've found out a bit of news."  She heads up stairs, taking Auntie with her.  Auntie heads out a window from upstairs and flaps around the town scouting about, before perching on the Inn's roof to keep watch until the party heads to sleep, at which point she'll join Tangle in her room.  

When the group makes their way upstairs, Tangle shares her information with the group.

Dawani soon has the occupants of the the inn clapping and laughing, and the bartender returns the gold. “You’ve more’n paid for the night!” He declares. He turns to Sparks. “Last I ‘eard they was on their way south to Summit Hall. They was returning the body of a slain knight, or sommat to that effect.”

The gnome begins to laugh, a painful rasping noise which causes him to rub at his throat. “We don’t know nothing!” He whispers, snatching up the silvers and stuffing them in his pocket. 

Coldin puts the blood stained head of his hammer on the table as he stands up. "Well, if'n ya 'appen to learn anythin' ya come an' tell me or my friends, a'ight. I don' want ta 'ave to come back here ta find ya, by Tyr's might ah don'." 

The man rises and crosses his arms. “Are you threatening me?” The gnome asks softly, not even bothering to stand. “I am a very well connected member of the Zhentarim. Perhaps you wish to reconsider your words.”
