The Valley of Ends

„I say we still explore downstairs, i don‘t want to return empty handed.“

(Sorry, I'd misread the earlier post and thought the people here before us were the ones who dropped to the ground when the earth shook)

Salys cautiously advances, "This reminds me of like how I got here, but backwards. Agreed, downward, but carefully."

Resfaen chimes in, "Well at least holding this place for the church might have just gotten easier. Let's go see what is inside and then establish a camp. Probably just inside the structure is our best bet. from in there we can possibly investigate what happened here."

Fingolin adds: "Yes, let's go, my curiosity is piqued."

“Guessing we failed the church.”  Gotch says with a shrug.  “Whoever those guys were, they seem to have gotten what they were after...”  He joins the others in setting up a camp though.

Salys shrugs, "Perhaps, perhaps not. I doubt they took everything and at the very least, we secured the sight, right?"

Going down the entrance way lead down criss-crossing sandstone steps until reaching th ebottome to find what seems like eroded hand and foot holes in the wall with a much newer ropes in a hammered in piton leading into a deep hole. 

"Interesting, and I think we have completed what the church wanted, to secure the sight and then if anything was found they wanted to inspect it first to see if they wanted it or not. Well so far we have secured the sight, so to speak. However, we should see what is also down this hole, as I can't believe those heathens discovered everything about this place. I know I will not be able to climb down this hole silently so let's see what is down there." Resfaen says as he holds out his battleaxe and lights it up seeing just how far the hole goes down and if he sees anything down the hole.

Onyx can see 90ft, does he sees anything down there?

Salys pulls out 4 ball bearings and sprinkles them with a glowing powder before tossing them down the steps ahead of them.

(Magical tinkering to give them each 5 feet bright light, 5 additional dim light, spread out down below us.)

About sixty feet down, there's a sandstone floor. The ball bearings bounce off the floor and roll off out of view but their glow will visible. 

"Anyone want to go down before me, otherwise I will go first." Resfaen states.

Salys shakes his head, "I'd rather cover you from up here to start with, and Bearskr climbs very slowly."

Onyx knots two ropes together and secures himself with one end and gives the other end to Rasfean and Salys, before climbing down the existing rope into the hole.

Salys will not take the rope, he's really small after all, but he'll have Bearskr take an end of it.

How does a metal dog take take end of a rope?

It’s feet have three claws, one of which is opposable. I planned ahead when I described him. Plants three feet on the ground and grips with the fourth.

Safety reaching the bottom of the rope and looking around to find themselves in a sizable room with one hallway leading out.  Down the hallway  is a very oblivious hole in the ground and beyond that was another room with what seems like shelves dug out of the walls.  with cloth covering what's laying on top,
