Svent looks at Xinq quizzically, "My scales are harder than leather or hide. I cannot hang my knife from my scales or fill them with meat or water."He goes back to preparing the hides.

Jubal nodded at Vallen's description of what was on the obelisk. "Still though," he began slowly, "it doesn't seem to offer much information; perhaps we should let this be for the moment."
He turned again to the monk they rescued. "You said there might be answers at your monastery, correct? Perhaps we should continue there?"
Again the bard smiled warmly, but behind it he was scrutinizing the woman, and waiting to analyze her response.
Jubal suspects that the woman is still being influenced by whatever was possessing her, and that she is subtly trying to get the group to continue digging for her.
If he can, he'll make an Insight Check to see if he can detect any outside influence over her: 19
Valyncia accepts the javelin from Svent clearly not expecting such a gift. "Um, thank you, that's ... unexpected. But thank you!" A moment later she considers the others and comments out loud, "You guys are a pretty unusual bunch, aren't you? Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for it. People tend to react a lot more strongly when I show that side of me."
Kairn steps over to the obelisk, and steps around it, muttering under his breath, and making complicated gestures. After about ten minutes, he steps back, having finished casting identify on it.

Ruven Gilrel (Level 4 Bladesinger)- The Shattered Obelisk
That the obelisk itself is full of divine energy. It is most likely the reason that animals gather here in peace at the stream. Kairn himself even has a calming feeling rush over him as he works to identify the monument. The obelisk itself doesn't seem to provide any sort of usable boon but you get the feeling that it is part of something bigger and is required for that to function properly. Standing here you can feel a strong arcane pull from underground though you're not sure what is causing it.
Cailee chuckled at Valyncia. "I mean, I can Wild Shape, so it's not super surprising, but I can only speak for myself." She turned to the rest of the group. "I can lead you all back to the monastery from here. I've been back and forth from there to here many times, after all." Her ears twitched and she smiled, happy to be helping.
Jubal looks over the woman. She seems to be mostly confused as to what is going on and why she's in the middle of the forest. He is fairly certain that she is being truthful in that she was in the monastery one moment and then awoke here surrounded by water. Jubal reasons that the water most likely broke the bond that was controlling her.
The forest surrounding the grove is oddly quiet. Caillee and Valyncia would be familiar enough with the area to know that the absence of animals was very abnormal. The changing in the seasons could be a cause for some of the beasts to flee to warmer areas, but there should still be something.
A bit of rest has allowed Xinq to clear his mind enough to calm his nerves. He's left to wonder...
what information he learned is useful and where the voices came from.
Svent is feeling rather confident in his craft. He's done quite well with the pelts that were left from the hyenas and luckily most of the attacks didn't actually damage the fur. The insides of the hyenas were rather smashed, but the meat would still be usable.
With the peace of the grove returning, the group gathers round the strange obelisk trying to make sense of what the woman had been attempting to do. It was clear the creatures were trying to dig below it, but the group remained uncertain if they should complete that task. The monk offered to return to the monastery in order to rest and better understand what may have caused the compulsion.
As the group discusses their options, the rumble of thunder is heard off to the west and a chilling breeze makes it way between the trees.
Xinq had never before considered crocodiles to be wise - cunning, perhaps, and vicious predators, but hardly oracles. However he keeps this thought to himself.
"I believe these stones are linked to the wardens. Without the guardianship of the wardens, they have become vulnerable. Together, they form part of a ward - against what, I don't know, but it might be to keep the gods from walking the land", he shrugs, indicating this is all speculation. Nodding towards the west, "Is yonder thunder a harbinger?"
"When a rival tribe sends scouts to steal your tribe's meat, killing the scouts only protects your meat for a short time. If their tribe is hungry enough to steal meat, they will send more scouts or attack with their whole tribe." Svent says, looking at the monk but speaking to anyone who listens. "If this one did not direct its own actions, the one who did will send others here again."
((Happy Holidays everyone. We're about to get into a couple of weeks where posting is going to be rather limited as people celebrate the season with friends and family. You can consider this period free to RP out anything you'd like to discuss between characters but there won't be any major plot movements until the start of the new year. I hope everyone has a wondering time off and I look forward to diving into some of the more of this mysterious obelisk and what it's uses are.))
Hearing the ominous thunder off in the distance, Valyncia rests her maul upon her shoulder as she looks at the others in the group, "Well regardless, it won't do to stay out here if it starts raining. We should get back to town, unless you want to head to this monastery. Either way, so long as we have shelter we can decide what to do next."
Svent cocks his head to one side, eyes fixing on Vallen. "When a rival tribe sends raiders they are not concerned with the raiders, but with the meat the raiders will steal."
Vallen slowly nods to Svent, "I think I understand, whoever sent her isn't going to be worried about her, but the task she was supposed to complete or whatever she was supposed to summon." He looked to Valyncia, "I feel maybe we should head to the monastery... We should figure out why she was out here and what she was doing." Vallen would move to one of the holes being dug and kicks at some the dirt present, "Though... Maybe we should try to see what they were digging? Or another time? I feel there has to be reason they were digging into the ground here."
Xinq shakes his head, then taps it meaningfully. “My armour is in here, remember?”
Svent looks at Xinq quizzically, "My scales are harder than leather or hide. I cannot hang my knife from my scales or fill them with meat or water." He goes back to preparing the hides.

Vallen looks Svent, “So you are thinking whoever sent her here may come looking for her in time?” He looked up at the sky hearing the thunder crack.
"I concur with Svent." Xinq agrees, "We could request guards from the town, or even hire a wizard to place a magical protection."

Xinq is not so sure, "Maybe we don't want to know. Maybe we should just fill in the hole."
Vallen doesn't spot anything of note as he kicks the clay soil.
