Vazak nods. "We can try that first," he begins. "If it doesn't work, let's take a short break and rest up. Then I should be able to go in and open it; I'll be able to handle whatever it throws at me."
Vazak will then step back out of the room, waiting for Baxthon to throw the rock at the chest.
Marius does pick up on some magic in the area, some are a bit farther than others, some down the way, at least the one from the magic mouth room. The chest does give off a bit of an essence, but more of whats inside, rather than the actual chest.
You can deduce the trap is more of a physical trap, than magic.
At the end of the hour Baxthons wounds heals a bit - Spending a hit dice 11
"Enough of this nonsense. Doesnt any of you have one of dem thieves tools to safely open a chest like this? Else ill just open it myself! No reason to stay here any longer."
"This trap cannot be disarmed with thieves tools." Leon reiterates what he told the others earlier. "I can use thieve's tools, but do not have any as of yet." He says in addition.
Vazak allows the electricity to fade from his greatsword, and looks even wearier after doing so. He kneels down in meditation, his blackened veins slowly returning to normal as he does.
Hit die: 13
After Vazak's recovered he rises to his feet. "Relax," he says, "I've got it."
He walks into the room, looks behind him to make sure the party is a safe distance back, and then opens the chest.
Baxthon smirks at Leon. "You need a thieves tools do ya? I may be able to craft those if you need em. Just need the time and i nothing is impossible, if you got the skill i've got! Just hands over lets see.. 25 pieces of gold aught to do the trick! Then ill craft it for you during out next break"
Baxthon is happy that someone finally took initiative on that chest.. a few more minutes and he would have done it himself. He takes a step back, bracing himself behind his shield thinking an explosion is coming their way.
Vazak reaches forward with his foot, (like you were trying to flush, in a public restroom.) And a mechanical arm swings forward, with two whirring buzzsaws attached to the end.
"If we cannot disable the trap, maybe we could activate it from a distance?" Baxthon picks up a rock and tosses it between his hands.
Vazak nods. "We can try that first," he begins. "If it doesn't work, let's take a short break and rest up. Then I should be able to go in and open it; I'll be able to handle whatever it throws at me."

Leon shrugs and moves back out of the room as well.
The rock makes a clunk sound o the chest, and nothing.
Your investigation roll gives no extra info. The trap is inside, so you cant dicern much.
"Let's try this..." Leon says. He pulls out a handaxe and throws it at the lock...
Attack: 25 Damage: 8
The lock shatters into bits of iron, and falls off. The chesr is still shut though
Vazak crosses his arms and shrugs. "Well, let's take a bit of a breather, and then I'll go in and open it."
All in favor of a short rest?
"Sounds good to me..." leon confirms.
As they rest, Marius will cast detect magic as a ritual.

"Thieve's tools?" Marius asks, bemused. "Never been a thief, and never plan to be."
Vazak will - if possible - take the Dodge action before flipping the chest open.
Just in case ;)
Hmm. Well then.
Vazak reaches forward with his foot, (like you were trying to flush, in a public restroom.) And a mechanical arm swings forward, with two whirring buzzsaws attached to the end.
Give me that dex check
Oh yay, half-giants are great at dex.
Dexterity save with advantage, due to Dodge: 21
Ooooh nice roll!
I will say, it wouldve been 2d6 dmg though.
Vazak nimbly escapes the blades with time to spare.
The chest is yours to check, and you find 210gp, 410sp, 3ep, 2 potions of healing and a ruby.
Give me a perception check, Vazak.
