The race is still several hours out, so any scouting would have to wait a little longer.
The group heads out to meet the guides that seemed most popular, Pluagg realizing too late he had already met them. Arriving at a small apartment at the edge of town as they were directed the group spots a human matching the image of Faroul. A human with tanned skin, grey eyes short black hair and a patchy beard. This is when it suddenly clicks that Plaugg has seen the man.
"We meet again." Leann says, walking up to the man who she had interrupted talking with Plaugg the previous day. "Would you mind if we ask you a few questions, to see if you would be a good fit for our group?"
Noticing the group Faroul's face brightens, "ah! Hello again my friend! Are these the companions you plan to explore the jungle with? Quite a capable looking bunch, what would you like to ask?"
Ivas tries to pay attention to their potential guides and come up with some hard-hitting real cutting-edge questions to try and weed them out, but fails to come up with anything. They honestly look pretty good to him! Leann seems to have a much better handle on talking to them, so Ivas instead follows Dorno's gaze around the room, trying to find whatever it is he is looking for. Come to think of it, Ivas doesn't even know what they're searching for in here! Maybe Dorno can tell a lot about their skills by taking in their surroundings?
"Pssstt! Hey, Dorno! What'cha looking for?" Ivas whispers, hiding his mouth behind his hand in a conspicuous manner.
"Well, the answer to that is quite simple, they wanna take you to monster lairs or show off some plants or something. Take you in and get lost. However!" Faroul swings up his arm pointing to the sky. "You hire us, and we'll give you an exclusive tour of the most ancient and rare archeological finds in the world! I'm sure you'll find anything you want in them. As an added bonus, we have a pack Dino!" Finished with his exuberant sprawl he gives you a chance to ask something more.
The man turns to Dorno. "Why hello there friend! We do have a dinosaur. If you like them I recommend checking out the dinosaur races today! Should. Be ... some" he turns to Plaugg "I think I know you..."
"What equipment would you suggest we have before traveling into the jungle, and what method is the safest way to travel once we leave the port here? Do we take canoe or go by land?" Leann asks. She is keeping track of time, knowing she has to be back at the temple by midday.
Ivas perks up at the mention of "ancient and rare archaeological finds"--though he's unsure what the big word there meant, he understands "ancient," "rare," and "finds" well enough. He has a question of his own for the guides now, one which lingers in the back of his mind as the others take their turns speaking. Of course, he's distracted again in short order at this most recent exchange.
"Oh hey, you know these guys, Plaugg?" Ivas says, doing a double take and examining the disguised bard more closely. "You are Plaugg, right? There wasn't some kinda switch-up last night that I missed or something?" he adds, scratching his head in sudden uncertainty.
Faroul considers the statement of Leann, momentarily forgetting Plaugg, "Well canoe is normally faster but you'll of course be restricted to the whim of the river, so it depends where you want to go first, good if you to reach say, Camp Righteous or Vengeance, otherwise probably best to walk it."
Faroul looks over the group, "Pluagg eh, I remember that name..." He pauses to ponder a moment, "From you!" He exclaims pointing to Leann. "When I was talking to that dinosaur racer Yesterday.." He looks to Plaugg or Raybond, "Who exactly are you??" (I don't what you want to next Plaugg but you'll need a roll with it please)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC May I make a general Insight check for Dorno regarding Faroul? Dorno isn't smart enough to really analyze any deep meaning in someone's words or actions, so I look at his +3 Insight as a general sense of whether someone seems like a good and honest person or not. He's basically Forrest Gump here with Insight into someone's overall character, on a good roll at least. 4 )
Faroul looks to Plaugg closely, "I'm still not sure that explains your relationship to the others here.." he turns to Leann, "ah, well, you are most welcome", he says as he gives a small bow.
To Dorno nothing he has said seems to come with any malice or deception.

(FWIW plaugg had already intended to be in disguise for the race from the initial convo)

"Explain to me why we should pick you over someone like Azaka." Leann says with a direct look at the pair. "What is the advantage of us doing so..."
Dorno partially listens to the interview but is more obviously looking around for the horse like giant lizard.

Dorno says in a loud whisper back to Ivas, "horse lizard."
Dorno then looks at Faroul. "Hello friend, Dorno's name is Dorno. You have dine-sore friend? You going to help us in the jungles?"
The man turns to Dorno. "Why hello there friend! We do have a dinosaur. If you like them I recommend checking out the dinosaur races today! Should. Be ... some" he turns to Plaugg "I think I know you..."

Raybond is suprised when Faroul sparks some recognition. "You've got a good eye. Where do you think we met before?"

"Thank you for your time." Leann says, prepared to move on.
Plaugg let’s out a chuckle and says “Faroul this is the disguise I’m going to wear for the dinosaur race today”

Working under a timeline, Leann moves the group along to the next guide. She has to make it to the temple by midday for her meeting after all.
Plaugg messages Faroul
”These guys told me about their plans to go into the jungle and asked me to join them. You know because I’m so good with dinosaurs”
