Distracted from clapping for Lumen by Vesper's plea, Chrys turns a watchful eye on her. "Ya know that ain't..." She trails off as Vesper's sparkling eyes, wide smile, and eager grip erodes at her conscience. Bein' on the road's a harsh life for a girl like that... she hasn't had it easy the past few weeks. This celebration, winning the competition, and making new friends... must be the first time she's feelin' comfortable again in a while. Am I really gonna spoil that for her?
With a distressed sigh, she gives Vesper a slight nod. "Fine, fine... just don't say I didn't warn ya. When the drink goes to yer head, ya pay for it in the mornin'." A small smile appears, alongside a glint in her own. "And ya know... mornin' services might be just the thing to cure whatever ails ya. I'll be sure to wake you up for 'em bright an' early, so enjoy yourself while ya can, sweetie."
She does turn a distressed eye on Krackle as she spots him encouraging Vesper's drinking habit. "Wanna come along to the services too, kid? Might do ya some good to listen to the sermons the priests give 'bout what it means to be doin' right by others."
"Ok! I have never been to a service. I tried to work while people were at service... That way they wouldnt be mean to me" He would say quietly looking to the floor before looming up to chrys with a smile. "I bet it will be lots of fun! Are there games and food? Do I get to wear nice clothes? " He asks eagerly, taking hold of the dwarfs finger and squeezing tightly.
Chrys smiles, disarmed by Krackle's innocent questions, and does her best to answer them dutifully. "People attendin' the services should know better... ya might say, it's more a reflection o' how nasty they are, than anything ya might have done yerself. A temple ain't no place for mockin' others, see? It's where we all come together in peace to celebrate fulfillin' the gods' wills as best we can, no matter who we are. Now, how much food and fun ya have, that sometimes depends on who yer prayin' to, see? But as long as ya got your heart in the right place, ya can find somethin' better than fun an' games. Ya can find belongin' an' peace."
She takes a moment to consider that they'd be attending a ceremony of Tymora, and blinks. "Actually, ya know, ya probably will have some fun tomorrow, if I don't miss my guess. An' I bet there might even be a game o' two at that service."
Vesper doesn't really listen to Chrys as she talks about the morning and going to service. She just nods her head, agreeing to something that she'll likely regret in the morning, glad that Chrys is allowing her to have some fun. "Aww, thanks Chrys!"
She gives her a big hug and orders a glass of wine that she promptly enjoys.
"Silver, are you going to go to service too?! It sounds neat!" He would say with a grin. Once they are given a table he would make his way to his seat and scramble to climb on top of his chair. Once seated, his nose and eyes would rest just above the tabletop as he prepared for the meal to arrive. Taking his silverware in his hands, his tail would sway back and forth behind him, sticking through the back of the chair.
As Lumen finishes his set and you all get ready to sit down at your table in the restaurant room, which is now ready, you look around and notice that Arine has apparently run off again. She was last seen drinking and laughing with some people on the other side of the tavern, but now she's gone. You figure she must have gotten distracted by something shiny or by a more interesting crowd
The remaining five of you settle down at your table and enjoy an exquisitely prepared meal of roasted brisket, herbed potatoes, fresh greens and baskets of warm bread that has just come out of the hearth. Even the drink is of very high quality; two bottles of very good quality wine imported from Waterdeep.
This is, without a doubt, the best meal you've had in days, and for some of you, perhaps even weeks. In Krackle's case, it is likely the most delicious, well prepared meal that he has ever enjoyed in his life.
As you're enjoying your meal, a man with a neatly trimmed gray beard and long gray hair, (he appears to be in his late 40s,) comes over to your table. "Please excuse the introduction. Let me introduce myself. I am called Ehrland, and I was fortunate to witness the impressive skills that you all demonstrated today during the contests and on the stage. It was most entertaining! You are quite a group, and one that could prove useful, if you might be willing to lend your talents for good cause."
"I do not wish to interrupt your meal any further, but if you would be interested in hearing my proposal, you can meet me in the morning outside the temple after the early morning service."
Silver stands immediately ¨Sure we do, we hope our talents can help you, what do you have in mind¨Silver have been very distracted but suddendly it´s very focus on the man ¨But first, we would like to enjoy our meal, is there somewhere were we could talk to you after the meal?¨ As he motions all the faces at the table eating ¨It´s been a long day¨
Silver motion a soft bow towards the man with his rigth hand at his chest
Chrys can barely keep from drooling on the table as she eyes the food; she says a little prayer under her breath to Marthammor and clenches her fists, just to keep up her decorum and be a good example to Krackle. In reality, if she could have her way, she'd likely be slinging back the ale and stuffing her face just as eagerly as the little kobold might have done without any coaching. It's a double kick in the pants that Vesper, even drunk as she is, can fit in so seamlessly with the rest of the patrons. Chrys is so focused on policing herself to try and fit in with the fancy folk, as she sometimes thinks of the wealthier class, that she almost misses the absence of Arine. It's only when she realizes that no one is making an amused jab at her stiff acting that she realizes the cheeky halfing has slipped away.
For a moment she looks at the empty spot at the table, filled with a sense of premonition. Something had been bothering her today; I knew I should've asked. Spirit somewhat dampened by the realization, it becomes much easier for Chrys to fit in at the meal, though for reasons she would have rather foregone.
Ehrland's introduction snaps her out of her funk; gratefully, she watches Silver taking care of the man's request diplomatically. It's always a bit odd to see the fierce-looking draconian speak with so much more politeness than she can ever muster, or even learned. Maybe it's a dragon thing, she thinks a little helplessly. The niggling voice at the back of her head that sounds very suspiciously like her mother's insists that it's a stubbornness thing. 'You could stop slurring your words if you'd only try!' Chrys almost snorts into her ale at the thought; half of the reason for her drawl is thanks to her mother's insistence on being ladylike, after all.
"Oi," she whispers to the others as she watches the two chat. "This could be the chance we were looking for earlier. Prize money is grand, but there ain't always prizes to win. If he's askin' for somethin' reasonable, we might not only get coin, but a bit o' a reputation 'bout ourselves as the Pie Pals." She winks at Krackle. "I think we should hear 'im out tomorrow."
Krackle 's eyes would go wide as more and more food were delivered to their table. The kobolds sharp toothed mouth would hang open wide as his head wouldn't from the food to his companions, waiting for them begin eating. The small kobold had never been so close to a meal like this.. and especially never allowed to eat any of it. At most he was sometimes given leftovers or less desirable cuts of meat in addition to the copper coins he was paid for his hard work. His family could only ever afford the most basic of meals, and Krackle would pretend to be full so that his sister and parents would have more to eat.. even if it ment he often went to sleep hungry. The moment his companions started eating however, the kobold quickly went to work. Using both hands, he would pull meat and bread into his mouth as though trying to make up for years of hunger. When the man came by and mentioned a job, Krackle wouldnt look up from his meal. too focused on the meal in front of him, the kobold would eat until the tiny creature could barely walk.. his stomach bulging as though he were pregnant.
In response to Silver's question, Ehrland simply holds up his hand and gives you a smile. "Please... enjoy your meal. We can speak of details in the morning. As I said, I will look forward to meeting you outside the temple of Tymora following the sunrise service. For now, I wish you all a good evening... very well earned, if I may say so." With that, Ehrland turns and strides out of the restaurant room, letting you return to your dining experience.
You continue to savor the fine food and wine until your plates are empty. Your hunger has certainly been satiated, as is your palette for good quality drink. The wine goes down so smoothly that you easily finish off the two bottles.
You sit there visiting and listening to the faint sound of the musicians who are performing in the tavern room and pondering how different this day has been as compared to the days of the past few weeks. It was only a few hours ago that you walked into Yartar and met up with each other, and now here you sit, enjoying a wonderful meal in a fine establishment, three of you champions at the respective skill contests. It's quite a bit to take in.
As the last drops of wine are emptied from your glass, the peaceful moment is suddenly broken by a hurried yell that's coming from the tavern room. You can't make out all the words, but you hear some of what's being shouted.
Krackle would fall out of his chair as he hears the shout, just managing to hold on to the edge of the table before ramming to the floor. "Someone needs help!" The tiny kobold would say as he let go of the table and landed on his feet. He wound then scurry out the door as quickly as his little clawed feet would carry him with both hands clutching his wand-like staff.
Lumen also bolts up, mouth still full of food, and follows Krackle, Silver, and Chrys to the door, almost forgetting to grab his lute on the way out. He starts listening for what the crows outside sounds like - confused panic, stunned silence, indifferent murmuring, the absence of sound from a cleared street. He pulls a dagger from somewhere on his person that isn't immediately obvious. As soon as he can see out the door, he's scanning for anything out of the ordinary apart from the person who shouted - someone darting away, someone looking upon the scene with satisfaction, evidence of magic, etc.

The five of you rush past the other tavern goers, many of whom are visibly frightened by the thought of an unknown danger, and bolt outside into the street. Being a little stuffed and a little inebriated, you find that your movements are a little more awkward than normal, especially Vesper, who has been drinking wine steadily throughout the day. Nonetheless, your heads are clear enough to immediate spot the source of commotion.
About twenty feet away, you see a handful of people running and screaming and trying to flee from some apparent danger. As your eyes scan the area and adjust to the dark, you see a pack of giant rats that are running amok in the street, scurrying around at people’s feet, climbing up legs and obviously attacking them with vicious bites. A few of the people are visibly bleeding and they’re desperately running around trying to escape from these vicious little vermin. You see seven in total, intermixed with four or five people while a larger crowd stands at a wide perimeter, gazing on in fear.
(OOC: Ok, everyone roll intitalve. And I’m going to say that given Vesper’s state of intoxication, she’ll need to roll a CON save DC14. Failure will mean disadvantage on attack rolls and DEX checks/saves, and slightly slurred speech, which could affect her magic. If she casts a spell, she’ll need to roll on the Wild Magic table.)
