Bringing Due Process around with a hefty amount of muscle behind her swing, Chrys bashes her war hammer with brutal force into the creature's hip. A brief but blinding flash of blue light sparks forth from the hammer head right at the moment of impact, causing the beast to recoil and respond with a strange, hissing, screech of pain, like no sound you've ever heard before. It staggers back a foot or two, but regains its balance and remains in place, obviously angered with monstrous fury now.

Sorry missed it was also my turn!
Lumen growls at the remaining attacker, the growl dropping to some scary dissonant whispers for 11 psychic damage on a failed WIS 14 save or half on a success. And it has to move away from Lumen on a failure.
He will also inspire Vesper again, for another d6.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Let’s get back at it! I'll go ahead and post actions for Kess.
Watching Krackle completely rip the giant wolf spider apart, Kess turns to the much more threatening humanoid spider thing that has just sunk his jaws into Vesper's shoulder. Whipping her blades around with incredible speed and focus, she stabs at the creature with sharp elven steel.
Attack: 15 Damage: 5, Attack: 15 Damage: 9. Her first attack is right on mark, and the sword pierces deeply into the creature's abdomen, spilling forth a thick and vile stream of grayish, green blood. Unfortunately, her blade sinks so deeply, that it throws Kess off balance, and causes her second attack to miss.
However, Lumen lets loose with a terrifying guttural growl, and you watch as his spell causes the creature's arachnid face to twist into a contortion of horrible agony and pain. It screams and shrikes and thrashes about for a few seconds before falling to the ground dead, no doubt escaping the brutal and utterly wretched torment that the half orc just inflicted upon it.
Both of your assailants are now dead. Vesper is still very much stuck in the spider web.
(Wow!! Triple 6's for Lumen! I couldn't let that go to waste! 😱 💪)
OOC: that was truly awesome! Will have to try to save that the next time I roll ability scores :)
Lumen looks down in pensive thought and sighs, needing a second to compose himself after his spell managed to break the creature's brain. When he looks back up, he glances around, looking for any other sign of a threat. Assuming none, he jumps up and tries to pry Vesper out of the webbing. "Are you okay? What was that thing?"
He then looks up in the trees for any sign of a cocoon. "I still think we might want to burn the webbing, if there are any more of these things up there. It's been so rainy that the trees should be fine."
"Well,"Chrys says, huffing and coming over to check on Vesper and Krackle, "I'm pretty sure we took care o' everything in that web. If there were more, with all this shakin' we did, they'da already have come runnin'. Now, I don't mind burnin' it, but I do think we gotta be careful 'bout the trees here, like Kess said. Collateral damage ain't somethin' I wanna provoke in a forest this old," she mumbles.
With little effort, you're able to cut through the silky strands with your blades and free Vesper from the web. The main wall of spider webs that block your forward movement is still intact, though. Meanwhile, Krackle still feels the fiery pain of the poison from his spider bite, although it seems to be stabilizing. Aside from the initial sting, which was excruciating, it doesn't seem to be causing him any additional damage.
Looking up into the trees, you don't see any kind of cocoon in the branches where the creature came from. Anyone can roll a nature check to see if they know what kind of creature that was.
Chrys thinks hard about what she knows about poisonous evil spider-like creatures.
Nature: 10
Not being able to unearth much more useful than what she learned by experience, she suggests: "Oy... I think we all need to take a lil' rest 'fore we continue inwards, and tend to these wounds."
Now that she thinks about it, Chrys can recall hearing about web spinning humanoid spider creatures that watch over, tend and feed other types of spiders in the forest, almost like arachnid shepherds. She doesn't know what they're called, though, but she does remember hearing that they tend to dwell in gloomy places... or rather they bring gloom to whatever places they infect.
Spending a bit more time studying the corpse of the creature Lumen killed, Chrys turns to the others. "I think these things are like shepherds. Tending to their herd. O' spiders, instead o' sheep, I guess. I don't know if that means more good or bad things for us, considerin' all these webs. Maybe any spiders left will be fightin' each other now that their watchdog is gone."
Krackle would return to his normal shape before falling to the ground and curling up in a small ball. "Oooowwwww!" He would moan as his tail slapped against the dirt. "That was the new biggest spider I have ever seen..." He would groan forna while before working his way up to his feet
(What are you HPs? Does anyone need some healing or do we want to short rest here, or back out in the main clearing? Also, what time of day do we estimate it to be right now?)
Chrys picks up Krackle and seats him by the base of a web-free tree. "Let's all take a breather,"she declares, joining him. "To go any further lookin' this hurt is foolishness."
She takes a moment to use her divine sense to check if there are any strong good or evil presences within the area (celestials, fiends, undead), or any particular area of the forest that has been consecreated or desecrated in their immediate vincinity (60ft).
With the terrifying episode now over, you sit down at the base of the tree to take a breather. You've been walking close to four hours now, and so a bit of rest certainly comes welcome. Although you find this to be a rather creepy place, and the brief but harrowing fight you just had took quite a toll on poor Krackle, the hour of downtime helps improve your morale and harden your resolve. Lumen's quiet musical accompaniment provides a calming background to your rest and helps lift your spirits even more.
In the meantime, you keep your eyes open for any signs of danger, but fortunately, none presents itself in your immediate are, and you're able to compete your hours rest without incident. When he wakes, Krackle's body feels much better, his system having processed most of the poison out of his body. He can still see and feel the slight sting of his spider bite, but with most of the pain now subsided, his small body shows surprising resilience.
Still, you note the uneasy stillness of the trees and leaves around you, many of which are stuck with the residue of spider webs, new and old that criss cross your immediate area, especially the thick, high barrier in front of you that blocks your path forward. Chrys uses her Divine Sense to probe the area, and although it does seems like evil has overtaken this part of the forest, she does not detect any of those specific types of evil within the radius of her spell.
"Okay, shall we head in?" Lumen says, eyes looking for a sign of where the sun is in the sky.
Is there a small part of the webbing that would be a good place to test what a fire bolt would do to it, to see if a wet tree would really be harmed? Lumen's not eager to struggle through more evil spider webbing :)
Picking out a section of the spider web wall that seems to have at least some distance from nearby branches, you all step back and look on with caution as Vesper takes aim. Letting loose a fire bolt, you watch as it flies forth and strikes the section the web.
Fortunately, it does not do what you feared. The web doesn't burst into flame and catch all of the surrounding trees on fire, instead the section that it impacts quickly smolders and opens up as the intense heat burns up the silky strands. What's left is a partial hole in the single ten-foot section. A second fire bolt from Vesper's finger, or the quick slash from someone's sword would finish trimming away the outlying strands and open up the entire section for free passage.
You are now free to proceed. Looking through the hole, you see a similar landscape up ahead, and the remnants of more webs that criss cross between the tight trees. From where you are right now, it looks like you have at least 50 or 60 feet of free, unobstructed ground in front of you.
(Perception checks needed if you do more forward.)

2hp, I can heal myself if i need but wern't we going to take a rest anyway?
Lumen's at full, but if people need a rest they need a rest! I think it's fine to rest and keep watch of what's going on with the webs.

Short rest hit dice, if we short rest: 9
Lumen's Song of Rest: 5
Krackle would curl up next to Chrys, clutching his stomach and trying to sleep the poison off...
Short rest! 10 6
Remember Lumen does his quiet song of rest for the group -- an extra d6 if you're rolling hit dice.

"I'm feeling lots better now." Krackle would reply with a smile as he prepares to head inside.
