I'll say that you can do everything in this post, right up to the point at which you crest the top of the stairs and get eyes on Duskbringer. After that.... well, let's just say that it's finally time to roll initiative and officially begin the encounter that you've been anticipating IC for over a week, and OOC for over a year!
In other words, let the games begin!~!!! 😀
And, in case, you missed, both Chrys and Kess are both now Blessed.
Lumen replies in a whisper only Vesper can hear: "I will try that, but get ready to surprise her from behind while I distract. Then spread out. Our only chance."
The bard appears with a flourish, directly opposite from the stairway. "Here I am. Lumen the Resonant. The Red Claws... they listen to me now. I could bring them back. You seem to need more minions than this little one here. Unless you have more hiding about this place, or on errands? I could be your solution. What do you think?"
Is the dragon... wearing anything? Any collars, amulets, jewelry, anything?
Duskbringer who stands there in all her sick, twisted menacing glory is about 15 feet away from the top of the stairs, along the left side of the circular room, near the large circular wooden table that has a living tree growing through the center. Lumen is along the far wall, about 30 feet away form the stairs. You also see a kobold next to the dragon.
(Sorry, got a bit busy with family stuff. Just for the record, Chrys's strength naturally is already equal to what the potion could do for her since the level up, so there's no bottoming ups atm XD We can redistribute this potion later to someone who needs it more!)
"I'm goin' in, tha rest o' ya try fer that element o' surprise," Chrys says, hefting her hammer. She considers the potion that was given to her by the hag, but then decides not to waste any time with it -- it's a cursed gift, in a way, and Chrys is simply too stubborn to compromise her beliefs by accepting an advantage granted to her from a source of questionable intent. As she makes it to the top of the stairs, she presses her advantage, huffing and puffing her way in as close as she can on her short legs, stopping short when she sees the dragon.
"Lumen! Ya Red Claw bastard, there ye are! Be thankful ye got yer draconic friend there ta spare ya from me wrath, 'cause yer next!" As Chrys says this, she makes sure to position herself directly opposite to Lumen, her best attempt to assure that Duskbringer's undoubtedly terrible breath can't reach them both at the same time.
(if there's time, Chrys would cast Heroism on herself.)
Oh no. Oh no! This was all going wrong! Why was Lumen doing trying to negotiate with the dragon? He must have been spotted, but want he invisible? If that hadn't worked her own limited invisibility would likely be no use either. Should she intervene? She was trained in diplomacy, but she was reluctant to break Lumen's flow.
However as she was mulling over what to do, both Nym and Chrys took off running up the stairs. "But... but..." she stuttered after them. Despite Lumen and Chrys both attempting to weave some story, Silver felt that this was only likely to end in vicious combat, and although she had been expecting it she had still hoped it could be avoided. She now regretted using so much of her magic simply to get up here, and to fight the kobolds. However, there was certainly one thing she could try, if she got the chance...
She took off up the stairs behind her new companions, ready for what awaited her...
(I was waiting for Kess, but let's go ahead and begin. Hopefully SodaSaint will jump in!)
Kess Initiative: 6
--------
The rest of you charge up the stairs, with Silver and Nym in the lead, Vesper right behind, and Chrys and Kess, who unfortunately, and to her own surprise, tripped on the way up, before bringing up the rear, as you arrive into the large circular room of the Raven's Council. This spectacular chamber, which is the pinnacle of Ravensglade Keep, is filled with a broad, circular table that has a living tree growing through the center. The paneled walls are carved with woodland scenery with ravens sitting in the upper branches of the highest trees. Some of the ravens eyes contain gemstones, but many more were plundered. Unfortunately, a gaping hole in the ceiling compromises the beauty of the chamber.
On the other side of the room, about 30 feet away, you see Lumen, who has dropped his invisibility, and standing in between you and him is the the towering figure of Duskbringer, her bat-like wings fold into its side, beneath its prominent rib cage. As with last time you encountered her in the forest, you see that she still has a few missing talons on its front left claw, and the shattered left horn. And, that spectral ball of light still floats around her head. At her side, you also see another small figure, a kobold.
As you all arrive in the room to begin this inevitable battle with the menacing wyrm, Duskbringer wheels her head around to face you, and for a second, you see the ball of light shine with a quick pulse. She's obviously startled, but clearly not surprised, for dragons do not live as long as they do if they so easily allowed themselves to be taken by surprise.
She's also quick. Very quick. As fast as Silver is as she charges forward towards the beast, Duskbringer is even faster. Wheeling her large, scaled body around, she lurches forward towards the group that just entered. You can see the hatred and twisted menace in her eyes and the smooth sheen on her scales as she moves with surprising speed. Nym sees the dragon's head lunge right in her direction, it's open mouth filled with an array of wickedly long, sharp teeth, and she prepares for her defense against this monstrous creature, already knowing full well how much pain this beast can inflict.
However, the attack doesn't come. Instead, Duskbringer shifts her neck at the last second and reaches for another target... Vesper, who is standing just behind her and to the side.
The dragon's jaws close around the half elf's torso, and you hear her scream with a terrible pain-filled shriek of agony and terror as she tries unsuccessful to wrench herself free.
Then, the unthinkable happens.
Duskbringer suddenly leaps into the air and takes flight with Vesper still locked inside her jaws, blood streaming down from her numerous puncture wounds. Twisting her body, the dragon flaps her massive wings and begins to climb upwards, and in a few quick seconds, she exits the Raven's Council through the huge hole in the roof, with Vesper still in her grasp. For a fleeting instant, you can see the expression of shock and fear in your friend's eyes and hear her desperate screams as she's carried away.
As of right now, the dragon is about 50 feet up above, just outside of the roof of the keep, and she's still in sight. The kobold, who watched all this, suddenly finds himself all alone in a room full of adventurers.
Lumen does not, as he was on the other side of the room. The only one who would be able to is Nym, but I think that she was planning on casting her Guiding Bolt.
Silver bounded up the stairs, her long legs taking two at a time. Reaching the top, however, she had to pause. Her first in-person confrontation with a dragon. All the stories she had been told in her life had led her to expect a majesty from it, some sort of respect earned by its very nature, ever from a chromatic. But as it turned its head towards them, its face was only merciless cruelty. Silver found herself scared, and disgusted.
And then so suddenly, it leapt, and one of this friendly group was already gone, her blood speckling the ground as she was lifted away. What random evil caused it to reach past both Silver and Nym to take Vesper? She could not say, but in her shock she knew she had to react.
She takes up the kobold in her huge hands, dangling it high above the ground, and asks it firmly in Draconic "Where will he take her?"
Silver finds that it's much easier to grab onto the kobold than to actually hold onto the thing. The small draconic creature that's one third her size wriggles with an incredible amount of energy and it's able to squirm out of her grasp. However, it definitely appears to be intimidated by the very tall and imposing firbolg, and as it stands in front of her, it looks up and answers, hissing in its native tongue with spite and fury.

(I'll wait until the others get a chance to post. And no, the dragon is not wearing anything.)
Is it sitting on anything metal?
No. Most of the room is made of wood, including the floor.
What's the distance between the top of the stars and ol' Duskbringer?
