As Chrys practices with brief determination to be more stealthy by paying more attention to the different types of surfaces and objects under her feet that go "crunch", she nonetheless grows frustrated by the added concentration required. Tip toeing and trying to watch every little thing under your feet is just not the dwarven way. In the end, she just can't see how looking down at sticks and leaves is any better than charging forward with your eyes on the target and your hammer swinging with every bit of might you can muster.
Still, at Krackle's prodding, she finds herself occasionally looking down at her feet and clumsily stepping over the errant twig that could possibly give her location away. After all, she's not the most uncoordinated dwarf there ever was, she has at least some sense of grace, It's just not enough to make up for the clanking of her armor, and the banging of her shield and mess kit, which would likely alert the ears of any potential enemy more than any twig she cracked underneath her boot.
Through all of this, Ellywick watches with amusement as he continues to lead you down the faint game trail.
"No. Delving into dark caves is not my cup of tea. I'm not prepared for that kind of expedition, nor would I want to be. I will find a nice secure hiding place and wait for you outside."
After about two more hours of travel, Ellywick motions for everyone to stop at the crest of a small rise. He points forwards to spot through the trees and says in a low whisper,
"The hideout is just up ahead."
As you look forward, you see a low rocky hill that pushes up from the surrounding trees, about 200 feet forward of your position, and a large, natural cave entrance that's plainly visible near the base.
Lumen will look around the crest and the forested area between it and the cave for any activity, any signs of activity, and for any outposts, lookouts, and traps.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Krackle would poke his head up from behind a rock and look around as well. "I don't see any goblins. Maybe I should go closer?" He would say before quietly bouncing off towards the cave.
Chrys briefly thinks about trying out her "new technique" and following after Krackle. The look of horror apparent on everyone elses' faces stops her, and she sinks back into a squat, grumbling to herself as she prepares her warhammer. "Fine," she mutters under her breath. "I'll jus' yell at 'em if they come out, an scare 'em back into their damn hole..."
Vesper watches as Krackle runs up ahead and hides...not super well, since she can still find him without expending too much effort (Passive Perception 11) and recalls what happened when he ran up first against the stirges. "Chrys, should we warn him to not go running off so much?" She whispers

"I think it's in his nature to be impulsive... but yeah, we can try to have a talk wit' him later. Hard to change the spots on a goat, though, if ya get my meanin', and he's always gonna be a curious soul. Our best bet is to be close by when he does so we can pull him outta whatever he steps in," Chrys whispers back, preparing herself to move in after Krackle, should he need help.
Lumen certainly doesn't want to trigger any goblin hideout traps, and so when he's looking at it, and Krackle begins to amble forward, he'll try to gently grab him by the shoulders and redirect him back to Lumen's side, crouching down just behind the crest. If he cannot grab him in time, he will try to follow just behind him, catching up and trying to find a bush behind which they could both hide. In either scenario, he will whisper:
"My friend! Just because we cannot see them does not mean they won't be able to see us if we just walk up to their front door. It would make me very sad to watch you getting peppered with arrows, when we can sit and watch them from hiding. They might have guards out, hiding somewhere, or perhaps patrolling. Let's sit here like real adventurers and observe, quietly and carefully, because once we start a frontal assault, we can't un-start it. Understand?"
Lumen's been able to survive as long as he has by not rushing headlong into things, and he's beginning to wonder how Krackle has survived as long as he has. He looks at his other companions with slightly wild, bugged-out eyes.
"hhhuuuggghh!" Krackle would grunt as Lumen catches his arm. "Ohh... Ok.. Well what If I do this.. will this help?" The kobold would ask as he casts mold earth. Immediately the ground beneath them would churn and sink as a small trench is created under them. "There! Now we should be harder to spot while we ob..ser..ve." He would say with a smile.
ooc: I was trying to lower their area a bit so they can move around more easily in their current hiding spot with more of their bodies hidden from view while they hang out and wait for goblins.
Vesper nods as Chrys gives her thoughts, but it doesn't change her opinion on it needing to be said. She gives Lumen a thumbs up, silently thanking him for pulling back Krackle as she takes position and waits for the goblins to come out.

From your current position, you have a pretty good view of the cave opening and the surrounding terrain at the base of the rocky hillside. However, as you survey the scene, you don't see any other creatures in the vicinity, nor do you see any kind of lookouts or large features or obstacles that might offer a secure watch post near the entrance.
"Well, I have a plan, don't know how good it is, but it's a plan. How about one of us who's good at stealth place all those caltrops that Chrys bought in the cave, and then you make some loud noise so that they all come running out. They'll run onto the caltrops and then we can attack while they're pulling them out of their feet. Thoughts?"

"Pepper 'em full o' bolts and javelins before rushin' in. I like it," Chrys says, holding up the bag of caltrops. "If ya want to be extra nasty, spread some oil, too, an' have someone standin' by with a lit torch to start a bonfire on 'em, too."
"I can do it! I'll help!" Krackle would offer as he jumped up and down amd waves his arms. "don't you worry. I won't let ya down." The tiny kobold would say as he extends his hands, hoping to receive the oil and pointy metal bits.
"Don't put 'em down yet,"Chrys says as she hands over the goods. To Ellywick, she asks: "Can ya tell if they're home or not right now, 'fore we begin this lil' raid?"
Ellywick has been silent during your strategic exchange, keeping his eyes on the cave entrance. Occasionally, he looks around and checks the areas off to the side, and even behind you.
"I'm seeing what you're seeing, lady dwarf, so I can't rightly make out whether anyone is in there any more'n you can. As I relayed earlier, last time I was here, I seen three o' them green buggers amble out of that opening. Other than that, I'm afraid I can't be much more help."
