Taraki (Tara), Variant Human Knowledge Domain Cleric
Tara narrows her eyes at Virnen, giving him a disapproving frown. "Hmph." She then turns a calm gaze on Jax. "It was previously requested by Salqwyn. If you would like, I can make you a copy of it, but the original should go to her. And I agree with going to her quarters," she finishes to Squall.
"Thank you Ms... I am afraid I don't know your name. I am Jax" Jax would say as his the light behind his lens grows a bit warmer. He would lean in close to her and focus on her face. "As an artificer, I am always looking for new ways to create and improve on arcane devices. You appear well studied in the arcane... perhaps your knowledge even surpasses my own. If things go well on his trip, perhaps we could work together to create something truly impressive." The warforged would say with a nod of his wide brimmed head.

The warforged would take note of the "Hmph" given by Tara towards the woodelf but wouldn't think anything of it... he would simply follow along towards the direction of the quarters.
Taraki (Tara), Variant Human Knowledge Domain Cleric
Tara rises, giving Jax a nod. "I have studied the arcane, particularly the Draconic Prophecy, for my entire life, and was fortunate enough to have a powerful sage as my mentor. I would be delighted to work with you in the future, I have never met a warforged before, although I have studied your kind extensively among other subjects. I look forward to seeing what we can do." She gives the warforged a ghost of a smile as she immediately sets about retranslating and copying her copy of the sheet, making one for Jax in Common. "And you may call me Tara."
Looking at the page you see writings and pictures describing the glyphs on the floor. With possible hypotheses on how they work. Notes make it seem she was working on more than just copying the work, but more so to fully understand the magic behind it.
Lespin nods at the request. “We’ll see you it that she is taken care of.” Before he waddled up the ladder.
You as a group leave the horrid sight. The dark red blood shining purple in the light blue hue of the runes. Sophie left in the meantime, stuck in her final moment, waiting to be retrieved and taken care of. You follow Lespin’s trail up the ladder but stepping of into the next floor. As the warm red lights turn on in your presence, you walk to the plain brown door, second on the left. Turning the handle to find that it is locked.
Tara shakes her head. "No, I did not." She looks at the lock peculiarly, as if it's some sort of exotic creature she's read about but never actually seen in person.
"I am trained in the use of thieves tools..." Jax would say casually as he moves towards the door. "Just a moment..." He would add as he opens his jacket to reveal a strange box. Opening the box, the artificer would remove a long thin piece of metal with what appeared to be multiple wire-like sntennas protruding from the end. The antennas would flick and move as though searching for something as the warforged moved his free hand over top of the strange set of thieves tools. As he does, the antennae would quickly stiffen in the shape of a key as he slid the tool into the door.
Lucky tries to hang back, watching the others and storing everything he sees in his memory. He also looks around from time to time; is anyone watching them or otherwise hanging around nearby? Perception8. An interesting skill,he notes to Jax. Opening locks, I mean. Has it proved useful often?
As lucky looks around, he doesn’t notice anyone walking around in the lower decks. Knowing that The co-captain William is aware of the situation, hopefully no one will be down here.
The lock requires many varied angles that don’t quite line up with Jax’s built in tools. One such tool springs out as Tara catches it. She then listens and hold it in place until Jax turns the knob and the door freaks open. The room is dark as you peer in.
A small cabin with a bed, chest, small desk, wall mirror, chair, and built in shelf. Noticing the main furniture you begin to focus on the room as it’s been completely tossed and searched. The sheets on the floor, papers are crumpled up and thrown about, the shelves are in disarray. The chest open and clothes tossed about.
A port window roughly 2’ x 2’ is open to the sounds of the wind blowing by.
"Yes please..." The warforged would reply to Tara before pausing a moment to look to Lucky. "I was manufactured by Breland to serve a reconacence and ranged support role within their military. Proficiency with thieves tools was deemed necessary by the artificer that oversaw our production." Jax would say before turning and continuing to work on the door. "Please hold this in place here.." Jax would say as he handed the lock picking tool to Tara before pulling out another thin metal Shiv and sliding it alongside the tool Tara was holding. "While I was not given the choice as to whether or not I wanted to learn this skill.. it did come in handy during the war... and occasionally since." He would add as he moved his face closer to the keyhole... his entire head bathed in yellow light as it reflected off of the plain brown door.
(ooc whoops posted at the same time as woogles but my post still holds up I think.)
As the door pops open, He would take his tools and place them back inside of his jacket. Standing up straight, he would proceed inside of the dark room as the yellow light from his eye illuminates most of the quarters in a dim light.
(Ooc just as an fyi, I used one of my artificers magical tinkering so that his face literally casts bright light for 5 feet and dim light for another 5 feet.)
Tara follows Jax's directions carefully, beaming as they get it open. "Fascinating! That was very interesting. The war...oh yes, that's right." She glances around. "Someone was looking for something, further supporting that motive." She begins to search through the papers on the ground methodically. "Thank you for the light, Jax."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jax would look around the room with the others, directing his gaze towards where other people were looking in an attempt to help them see better in the dark room. The warforged would cautiously move through the small cabin, looking for anything of value or interest.
Moving aside Salqwyn allows all the others into the room. “I will remind you that anything you find is property of House Lyrandar. Please refrain from copying anymore of it.“
"I am begining to dislike house Lyrandar..." The warfoged would say as he continues his search.. having a hard time focusing as he is constantly trying to provide light to others.
“My apologies, warforged, for not allowing you to profit more from the death of my family.” She checks the hall once everyone is in the room. Telling any remain crew that the group will handle things from there. Then closing and locking the door behind her she pulls her pack from her back and dumps its contents on the floor. Then looks up to the others her hand held out “None have mentioned it so I will. The page in her hand was torn out of a journal. It seems that the person who murdered her has the rest of the journal. As you can see I do not. Now all of you empty your packs. Once we ensure none of us are this Changeling we can better trust each other.”
Holding Ray of Frost for anyone who acts threatening.
(Was Lucky able to hear anything from the recording stone before it was snatched away from him? He wouldn't have resisted Squall taking it.)
