“I would feel better with some rest as well. But we should plan on going first thing upon waking then. I do not want to be down here any longer than I must.“
"If you feel dirty, I could inquire about a bath for you" Jax would say looking to Tara. "however, I highly doubt that they bathe.... "He would add as he nudges one of the scaly pillows with his metal foot. "I am willing to rest if you would like. I am prepared to perform out task once everyone is ready." He would say as he looks down to his armblade... inspecting the area where it has been strapped to his arm and is integrating into his body.
"Figure of speech," Tara explains to Jax as she crosses her legs. She glances at the lizardfolk guarding the door. "Suffice it for now to say that I had a personal aversion to that. I will explain further at a later time, if you wish."
If our hosts have our quarry under lock and key, then sure, I could go for a few hours' nap. He winks at Squall: Gotta get my beauty sleep in, after all.Lucky looks around. What a charming place. He grabs several pillows and, as the others are still standing around and chatting, he starts to settle in for a nap, taking his pack and jacket off.
After Squall’s question about finer lodging, the group comes to terms with the fact that you’re all fortunate enough to have survived and not be locked up or worse. This for a lack of better term holding area is the expected sleeping quarters for the night.
You all find enough pillow and spread out as you make preparations to sleep. It’s uncomfortable, hot, borderline restless night. Even Jax can tell his system is having to work extra to keep is fluids and pressures correct with the prolonged exposure to heat.
You all awake to the same two guards standing in the same spot as you drifted off to sleep. Wiping the sweat off your brow, gives you a sense of urgency to complete your task before becoming exhausted You gather your items ready for travel as a small reptilian child comes in and brings in a platter of crispy looking large yellow beetles. He sets them down and waits expectantly. He does a quick demonstration to peel off the shell off the back to expose the soft thorax belly and pushes the meal towards Squall. His soft red skin hasn’t hardened to the rough black scales that come with maturity. His large black eyes just gaze upwards.
"I would suggest you eat the food provided. You will need the nutrients and you do not want to offend our hosts " Jax would say in a voice that would surely accompany a smirk if he had a mouth.
Tara manages to slip in some quiet praying that night to get her spells changed, although she seems unaccustomed to the heat, sleeping badly and waking up with sweat covering her face.
When the food is brought, she peels a beetle and pops the meat into her mouth without a trace of disgust, chewing thoughtfully.
Squall at first looks kindly upon the youngster but when it becomes clear what they are expecting her face turns a bit green. She responds to Jax "I don't think I can ..." She stops talking as Tara takes a bug and eats it, seemingly without issue. Her eyes go wide and she watches the cleric closely. "Well, I guess...I could try." Picking up a bug Squall carefully pulls the shell off as the child had demonstrated. Then pulls the meat off and pops it quickly in her mouth. Eating and swallowing it as quickly as she can.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lucky grabs a beetle and eyes it, and then the lizard child, suspiciously. Is this the thing where they feed the most disgusting food to the foreigners and laugh as they pretend to like it? Insight10
You all take your prepared meal and perhaps not so eagerly consume the insect. Surprisingly it isn’t horrible, opposed to topside bugs filled with viscous innards that pop, this subterranean beetle is quite meaty. The taste however is less than inspiring, like the flavor of snot with the consistency of egg whites that have been over peppered. But alas it is filling and you begin to be escorted out.
Behind the two hulking Lizardfolk guards you begin the winding trails and double backs through dark corridors and tunnels. It seems as though it’s deliberately convoluted and maze like, giving the people who make this their home an advantage in navigating the system.
You see sporadic pockets of civilians poking their snouts into the light as you pass by. A sight be to be seen and talked about for who knows how long.
You make your way to the alleged outskirts of the what now seems like city. To your surprise, the tunnel opens up to a crawling, expansive cavern. A stream of lava flows across the land, pockets and pools of magma sit bubbling. The river like system of lava illuminates certain areas between the black void of pitch black. The guards give you a slight push before the retreat back to their tunnel, sliding a rock to cover the hole.
What would you like to do?
(anything in particular? Marching order is needed, person up front makes a survival check to navigate are the only things required)
Jax would draw his revolver as the glow of his lens casts a red light in front of him. with his other hand resting on his tools inside his leather jacket, he would move through the tunnel. Leading the group.. the warforged would occasionally pause and his head would quickly turn as though investigating a noise or movement before he would continue on his way.
Survival6 plus 19 if given guidance! Perception if needed 9

Sticking to the middle of the group Squall follows behind Virnen. “Good advice. I think a swim here would be most unpleasant.” After a short while of walking. “I never knew the air could be so stale. I didn’t really notice yesterday with all of the excitement.” She begins fanning herself with her hand. Then stops and smiles. ”I know what will help. "Kākutu.".” A gust of air swirls around Squall offering a slight relief from the heat and the oppressive environment. “Would anyone else care for a breeze?”
Tara stays near the back, although she slips up occasionally to provide Ourelonastrix's blessing to anyone who needs it. The heat continues to assail her, and she gives Squall a slight smile. "I would welcome one, my mentor's home is much cooler than this. Such heat...I've read about lava, but experiencing it is something else entirely."

Virnen chimes in. "We shouldn't take any risks. A rest sounds like a good thing for all of us."

"Wait, we sleep here?" Squall glances nervously over at the guards. "Tara do you think you could ask them if we could get rooms?"
