Whitegaze winces briefly, then rolls his eyes at Kale, “Was it worth it at least? And I’m very tempted to take the mop and bucket with us to see who comes looking for it...” He’ll wander over and look at the carving.
It looks like a carving of a spider, nothing much else stands out.
Finding nothing else of interest in this room, you head back to the stairs. Do you go up or down. I assume Al-Ashari scratches the stone near the door.
Kale's gaze lingers on Lia thoughtfully, eyes narrowing. "Life's nothing without a bit of risk-taking, my friend," Kale tells Whitegaze airly, as he rejoins the others on their journey back down. While walking, he takes the time to surreptitiously signal to Merric in the cant.
How interesting. Not all of the bling on our precious new companion is real, so save your sticky fingers if you're tempted by her jewels. I meant the ones on her fingers, of course...
"No many of my items are illusions." Lia tells Kale and Merric out loud, her own fingers moving in the thieve's symbols. 'And I have other surprises as well...'
"Please, do," nodded Al-Ashari to Whitegaze. "May be we can find some clues about orientation in this place at the door to the tavern".
((Unless Merric immediately run away several flights of stairs down without waiting for everyone to leave the room, he could hear the question and the answer, and can safely return to the group.))

(That wasn't what I meant. We'd already left the room...I was just wondering if anything happened to Merric as he started downstairs, or if heard or saw something. I think that post kind of got missed.)

Merric, as you start down the stairs, you don't see or hear any sign of the monster Whitegaze fought before. You do hear the others talking about going up instead of down, what do you do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Merric pauses as he hears the others moving in the opposite direction. Fool woman wants to live forever in this cursed place, he thinks to himself. Then twinges at the idea that he no longer has a way to make that thought not just to himself. With a sigh, he turns and follows his friends back up the stairs, with an eye and ear trained backwards.

Merric begins heading downstairs, all senses alert.

"You would look splendid with the mop," wholeheartedly agreed Al-Ashari and also returned to the stairs.
There she took out the magical dagger and asked to guide the group to Cicero in the Cicero’s Bar.

Whitegaze will take the mop and place it in his quiver before following the others.

Merric catches the subtle signals of the cant from Kale and gives the acknowledgement sign without ever making eye contact.

The dagger in Al-Ashari's hand indicates upwards to get to the tavern.

You don't hear any claws on the stairs as of yet, the monster Whitegaze fought before has not noticed you yet.
Whitegaze will look to the dagger and then shrug, "Looks like we're headed up, shall I lead?"
(Except that Merric had already begun heading down. What, if anything happened with that?)

You reach the next level above, and the door still has the scratch Al-Ashari placed on it. the dagger indicates upwards still.
At the next landing you find another door.
20 and 12
The dagger indicates the door as your destination.
Is there anything special about that door distinguishing it from other?
