If any of his attacks hit, he’s going to use Menacing Attack +10 Damage and it must make a dc18 wis saving throw or be frightened of me until the end of my next turn.
Merric curses softly as the power of his Rapier of Warning is temporarily stripped. He takes a defensive stance but leaves his weapons sheathed for now to avoid any appearance of attack.
"Aye..what the lass be sayin'. I'm thinkin' we justs wants to be talkin' an' mayhap helpin' each other. How that be soundin'?"
Not being able to see the creature, Merric focuses his attention on his blindsense. Where is the creature?
ooc: The description for blindsense does not seem to require a Perception check, but if it does, Perception: 16
Kale sighs, then pulls the bedroll strapped to his pack off. "I hate doing things without magic," he complains to the others as he pulls out the blanket and unfurls it. Then, turning to the cell, he quickly throws and drapes the blanket over the entire area, to see if it lands on any "invisible man" in the room.
(If it does hit something, Kale will not release the end of the blanket while saying, "Could you keep that on for the moment? It's hard to parley with someone we can't even see." )
That ... was bad. But on a plus side, they knew that "the invisible man" is here. Al-Ashari sent a telepathic message to both her companions: "Antimagic Field. Can not do much here. Bu we can try to move around. Usually this things are no more then 10-foot-radius sphere. We can try to either leave it, of, if it was cast on us, hit the man with it, may be it will cancel his invisibility? Oh, and the man is here indeed."
Out loud she tried diplomacy: "We are not here to hurt you. We came to help. Would you talk to us?"
Your magic seems to work just fine in here... It does not affect your brand of magic.

The attacks all hit,a nd it tries to resist being shoved...
Whitegaze lands several powerful hits on the creature, then tries to knock it down with his shield, but it bears up, the two locked in an equal-strength contest. It does not appear frightened of Whitegaze afterwards.
Both of Joetaro's strikes hit, the searing power of his blade doing extra radiant damage on it's hit.
The creature strikes back at Joetaro... Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: 18 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 slashing damage. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: 13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 33 piercing damage. Soul-Stealing Gaze. The creature targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. If the target can see the creature and isn’t a construct or an undead, it must succeed on a DC 16 Charisma saving throw or reduce its hit point maximum by 11 and give the creature an equal number of temporary hit points. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a short or long rest. The target dies if its hit point maximum is reduced to 0, and if the target is a humanoid, it immediately rises as a ghoul under the creature’s control.
Merric turns his head in the direction of the voice. He hadn't needed that sound to locate Mr. Invisible but now that he'd spoken, it would be rude not to face him. Glancing at his companions, he decides to reply, "Well, I'm thinkin' we wants many things, but what I wantin' most right at the now, is information. What be this place? Not jus' the'sylum, but the whole city? What can you be tellin' us?"
"What my companion meant to say," Al-Ashari was translating the conversation to Kale, of course, and was too tired for mind games, "is that we are newcomers in that City, and very much wanted to leave it. Some circumstances lead us to believe that "an invisible man in a house of mad" possesses something that can help us escape. Specifically, some kind of mirror. When we came here we did not know what to expect but found the place run by Illithids, that makes that Asylum more of a feeding ground, than a place of healing. Now we met you and would ask for help as well as suggesting ours."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kale releases his death grip on the blanket and straightens up, dusting himself off. "Yes, yes. I'm Kale, by the way. These are my friends, Al-Ashari and Merric. We'd like to know your name, and how you ended up in this place. And also, any information about your attempts to escape from this place would be appreciated, seeing as how we've suddenly found ourselves in a similar position."
Just to make Al-Ashari's job easier, Kale mimics in much simpler language, pointing at himself. "Kale." Then at Al-Ashari. "Al-Ashari." Then at Merric. "Merric." Then he gestures at the cell walls, to indicate those outside. "Mindflayers,"he spits, making a face and an X with his arms. Finally he points at the Auran man. "???" Performance: 13
As the others are talking, he begins to inspect the room, looking for the door, and anything within the room that might help as to give a clue as to how to force it open. Investigation: 25

In the cell with the invisible man: Continuing to speak in his language.... "I know who runs this place." He tells you. "It is a mind flayer lock on the door, so, unless you can open one of those, I think you are stuck here with me." He fidgits a bit then. "If you can open the door I can give you the mirror you seek though."
Al-Ashari senses he is speaking the truth, or else has become very good about thinking he is doing so.
"What have you tried already? So we would not waste our time. This anti-magic firld - is it part of the room?"
(Btw, how does the room look like? In details, if possible - windows (inner to the corridor or outer to the yard), what kind of door is there, how big is it - everything you can tell)
Whitegaze will move to support his new crewmate swinging his flail at the foul creature before trying to knock it down with his shield.

As Kale tosses the blanket up, it covers the figure. It shudders back, but does not try to toss off the blanket, as requested.
