Kale looks up, and then wishes for a moment that he hadn't. The sight of so many eyes swiveling about makes him a little dizzy. "Aeh... well, of course we wouldn't think to treat the Chief Librarian as some mere assistant! I was thinking more that you might be able to give us a tour of the library, and a brief history of Elysium, and how the city became the... aeh... wonder that it is today. We're particularly interested in this 'Dungeon of the Gods' rumored to be located in the city. Librarians amass knowledge, and chief librarians more than most!" Kale adds ingratiatingly. "Us mere mortals would be honored to have even a moment of your most worthy time, my good sir!"
Universal Speech: Persuasion 23
(Backing this up a bit with kale's post above...)
"That is better..." The beholder says swiveling to Kale. It glances to Al-Ashari as she speaks to the beholder. "I will tell them to find you." With a less-angry-now turn the beholder then swoops off.
Kale lets out a slight breath. "It's hard to look someone in the eyes to show your sincerity when you have to focus on all of them at once," he admits with a shrug. "Not my best work, but it'll do."
Looking at the shelves, Kale reaches out and picks out a random book, tucking it under one arm. Then he turns around and angles the mirror in such a way as to capture as much of the library's interior as possible in the mirror's reflection. "Tell me, what exactly is my good friend Merric doing right now?" he asks the mirror.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kale you see nothing in the mirror at first, then something forms, moving towards you. It is visible to the others though as well...
A shadow appears in the distance. It’s very presence withers the pages around you. The air is very still, and you begin to understand why this place was abandoned.

Merric turns as the large, dark thing appears, it's slow appearance triggering his blindsense. "Now, there's somethin' you'll not be seein' too often, an' that be somethin' I'm thankin' all the gods fer."
(Reviewing Lia's spells I think we can pass by this encounter...)
Lia sees the oncoming creature and uses her most powerful spell. She casts maze The nightwalker blinks away, banished to a demiplain for ten minutes. (It does not get a save prior to the spell, nor can it break free as the DC is 19 and it has -2 to the Int check so can only get an 18 as its max roll.)
"I'd suggest being somewhere else when that thing comes back." Lia observes as she moves off into the library a bit further.
Merric shakes his head. Kale can certainly load the shit when he's of a mind to do so.

"Smooth, Kale, very smooth" approved Al-Ashari, patiently waiting for librarians to appear.

You wait and no one appears. What do you do?
"Anyone mind if I use my mirror again?" Kale asks.
"If you have to." Al-Ashari did not have other ideas anyway.

Whitegaze starts aimlessly wandering up and down the aisles, keeping the others in sight, and reading random titles.
Merric tucks the book on the sewers away and starts looking for a place to check it out, being sure not to wonder too far from his companions.
