(I'm going to use Renny's rd4 attack before Shae's, to move this battle along!)
Renny - you seem to be getting used to tossing fire bolts in this small quarter combat style scenario in this house. This one smashes directly into her slouched crying figure. No explosion, just absorbed (8 damage), and the Specter disassembles and kind of falls back into the trunk, not moving at all and actually now almost transparent.
Combat is over!
So we have the Specter in the trunk, her transparent body lifeless. The light from the dagger stuck into the wall from Renny's spell is still bright as ****.
There's a few rooms on this floor still not explored. There's also the staircase heading seemingly into the dungeon of the house. There's other rooms on the other floors.
" That was good....right? Because it felt evil....and I have very specific reasons for not wanting to do evil."
" I mean....she was trapped here, driven mad by the violence and terror of her death....now she can move on.", she looked up at the others tearfully.
" I didn't just torture a poor grieving and tormented girl for no good reason. Right?", she sounded very much like she was trying to convince herself rather than the others.
OOC:
Shall we do the Level Up and long rest here and then head down?
Ignatia - you close the trunk and say goodbye forever to the Specter nursemaid.
Renny - you don't see anything particularly interesting in this storage room.. except of course the stairway to... hell?
OOC: According to the module, the party only levels up and gets the long rest when you decide to head down the stairs, and not before. There are things in the house you haven't uncovered yet (level 1 related), although they are not crucial to completing the module. Some cool stuff, and some more fighting. The main thing to progress the game was for you guys to find the secret staircase which leads to the dungeon... which you did. So it's really up to you guys what is next... explore the house more, or head down the stairs. Either way is awesome with me.. I am having a blast with this game.
If you are indeed heading down, I'll need a marching order. Thanks!
Flynt shakes his head. "Not at all, if anything we have saved that poor woman from her torture. Perhaps this evil is still in this house. Do not be so hard on yourself."
Flynt will take second in the marching order.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
You all discuss the options, and seem to agree to explore a bit more.
Ignatia, you leave the storage room, and open the left door. From standing in the hallway, the room is lit up quite nicely from Renny's light spell on the dagger stuck in the wall in the adjacent room.
The cobweb-filled room contains a slender bed, a nightstand, a rocking chair, an empty wardrobe and a small iron stove. It seems to be empty, and it also seems to be a spare bedroom.
Ignatius turned to the others, " So...we've a few more bedrooms to find...the children's....and do you think the room with the doll belonged to the poor girl in the trunk?"
" Or perhaps that was the daughters room...I wish I knew more about who these people were. "

What would you like to do?
(baby crying has also stopped!)
Ignatia walked over to the trunk and closed it, then sat down next to it and stared off into space for a while.
Renny steps back into the room, having a new look around, "Think that was everything?"
"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow"
"No power in the 'verse can stop me"

OOC: I think that is a good idea.

Shae gestures at the chest wistfully.
“If anything, you’ve done her a great service. She was living a tormented existence, and we freed her from it. Now she can move on to her afterlife.”
she takes a glance at the stairway, and then looks at Flynt.
“”We should cover the rest of the house first, I think. The basement can wait. What say you?”
Ignatia rose to her feet with a half smile, " I say we go through those doors opposite."
She left the room and headed towards the two rooms north of the landing. Opening the left hand side one.
Flynt: Yes, we could explore the rest of the house before the basement."

Ignatius headed across to inspect the nightstand and under the bed.
Ignatia, as you move ahead into the room.... nothing happens. The nightstand is empty, and only a few dust bunnies occupy the bed's underbelly.
Ignatius turned to the others, " So...we've a few more bedrooms to find...the children's....and do you think the room with the doll belonged to the poor girl in the trunk?"
" Or perhaps that was the daughters room...I wish I knew more about who these people were. "
Hearing no answers to her queries Ignatia moved out of the room and to the closed door, opening it carefully.
Ignatia, after the silence, you head back out to the main hallway and try the remaining door.

The door is locked.
Flynt draws his sword in case something emerges from the room and attacks them.

Renny backs up a few spaces from the door and off to the right, staying ready for more weird stuff.
"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow"
"No power in the 'verse can stop me"
" Did we find a key somewhere? If not, Shae can pick or Flynt can smash."
Shae sets to work without a word.
