Bekate cocks his head, staring at Zip zip through his sales monologue.
"I have a few elder cousins that would love to be what you're on mate," Gadus says as he pats the man on the back. He then enters the room behind Sereena taking stock of the shop's inventory (1).
(What do you mean by interesting? Almost everything in the shop is gnome-made, highly detailed, some things familiar, but most with adornments, glyphs, runes, or clockwork parts that are mystifying without further study.)
Zip nods his head encouragingly, seeming to mutter each word under his breath. "OhsureIcanhelpalot!Ihavejustwhatyouneed-Onemomentplease!" With a light step, he flits off into a back room, where he begins to sort through a clanking series of jars, tools, and packages. After a few moments, tottering under the weight, he dumps a large crate onto the counter of the store section of Ib-Drip's. Within are 6 healing potions (40 gp a piece) and12 healing kits (4 gp). From one of the shelves, he pulls a large bundle - a premade set for extended mining expeditions, including a bed roll, fire starter, pot, kettle, five torches, and two lengths of rope (50ft) (package cost: 12 gp), rations sold separately (1 gp, 1 day of food for one person.)
From another box, this one locked with a clever little device that he disarms in the privacy behind the counter, he unpacks three silver orbs, slightly larger than an apple apiece, and a metallic full-arm gauntlet, with odd rivets around the joints, a brutal-looking claw hand and a peculiar torso-harness. He explains that the orbs are a kind of remote surveillance tool, which, at the activation of a keyphrase, unfold into small-size constructs with a central eye and two stubby wings. Priced at 65 gp each, a groove along the base of the spheroid body transmits visual data through the touch of a designated "user" (attuned to it, but without taking up a slot). Each sphere can hold upwards of 6 hours of memory before it begins to forget. Zip demonstrates eagerly, sending one of the devices whirring quietly through the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sereena looks amused.
“These are some fascinating things you have here. I’m glad to see you have things I know I’m looking for, now I want to know more about these other items. I see a gauntlet, the claw, and, what is that contraption?” she asks pointing to the torso harness. “Amazing. And do you happen to have a clockwork device that plays any music? Or perhaps something that can make my axe or halberd more deadly? ”
Looking at those with her, she asks them, “Well, how much gold do you have? I doubt we would be able to buy the lot, but I would be willing to pitch in a fair amount.”
Back to Zip, “Excuse me Zip, but are these the best deals you can give us? Is there any group or bulk rates? Barak was obviously correct in sending us here, your supply does not seem to be lacking.”
Sereena nods her head in respect. “I am sorry, I was unaware that there was a discount already provided. I meant no offense. We appreciate it greatly. Before I talk with my peers about what our needs are, can you please answer the rest of my questions?”
Zip's eyes go wide as he overhears Salazar and Anansi's banter. Flustered, and beginning to stumble over his words, he turns to answer Sereena's other questions.
Flushed, and clearly a little miffed, he flits down among the shelves, gathering a few spare parts and looking for the so-called "rune-stamper."
(TLDR: Zip offers an additional 25% discount on all listed prices after or if you complete a side mission, for which the reward is 500 gp. The armor piece is a full arm-shoulder covering, fitted with interior mechanisms that will either function as an externally mounted limb, capable of launching an additional attack, or as an armored covering, reinforcing the strength of the protected limb.)
Sereena smiles at Zip, “Zip, I would gladly take this up in the name of Ilmater. I can not speak for my companions here, but I would wager they would join me in clearing this for you and your granpa. Give us the directions to the place and forgive their, um, awkwardness?
As for the rest, let us put this conversation on pause til we return? Sound good?”
Now looking at her peers, she says, “Well, does clearing a cave monster sound more to your liking?”
(I believe it is the four of you, judging from Gadus's last post. At this point I am assuming that we are running with 4, since I have not heard from our bard for quite a while - this is perhaps due to my absence over recent weeks.)
Zip nods happily and calls to another passing gnome - this one red cheeked, yellow-hatted and much tubbier than Zip - with a fluid string of unintelligible syllables. You realize that his common is very much slowed down from his preferred pace in gnomish. The other gnome nods, and heads for a side exit on the far wall of the shop. He props the door open with one boot and pulls out a pipe, which, after he lights it, produces a thickly aromatic greenish smoke. Zip nods happily once again.
The yellow-hatted gnome does not speak to you as he leads you into the darkness, pausing only once outside to light the aforementioned pipe and to pick up an oddly stubby torch from a nearby bucket. Instead of igniting into a flame, this torch seems to function on a biochemical basis, responding to some combination of motion, heat, and perhaps even the smoke from your guide's pipe. All said and done, it gives of 15 feet of dim light, which for the subterranean gnomes in the area is sufficient. He does not respond much to attempts at conversation, grudgingly going as far as giving you his name, Tib, and that only after five or so minutes of walking.
Your guide leads you along a smoothly cut portion of the wall of the great abyss you saw earlier when you approached the Ib-Drip's. You realize after several minutes that you have now moved beyond the areas outlined for you by Barak's crude map of the area. The stone pathway eventually narrows, tightening uncomfortably close to the edge of the abyss, though luckily not compromising your footing! With an abrupt turn, Tib indicates a narrow stairwell cut into the wall, nearly invisible unless right at the entrance itself. From here, he leads you down two more levels, and, you think, backwards towards the inn, though about 60 ft of stone beneath it. After a moment, the tunnel opens again on the great abyss, and Tib gestures to a flimsy-looking rope ladder that hangs limply over the edge. He grunts and sniffs, tapping out his pipe and refilling it from a pouch at his belt. After rekindling it, he sits down against the wall of the tunnel and pulls out a little book full of neatly drawn dwarf runes.

Anansi follows the others, examining the wares along with them.

The mention of food has distracted him though.

What uses do the runes have Tib? Will they help uss identify the creatures we hunt?
Tib gives you glare that some might call friendly, but most would not.
"No. It's poetry. I'm going to wait here while you do the job."
With a studious puff, his eyes fall back to the page, flicking from rune to rune at a steady, measured pace.
