The rogue's rapier plunges into the man's breast, and he opens his half-mouth in a silent gasp - but otherwise shows no sign of hurt or hesitation.
Withdrawing the blade, Falshen sees not a speck of blood - just streaks of some white stuff that slides sloppily off the sword to plop wetly on the floor.
The half-mouth continues to yammer its garbled incantation, but the head snaps around to look where Ian has pointed, the body sags to one side, and then the head lolls onto one shoulder as though the neck is broken, and the thing begins to convulse uncontrollably, and then fall to the ground, prone. The gasping, wheezing, barking noise it makes could only very loosely be described as laughter, especially once globs of cold white gunk begin to spit from the deformed mouth, and the whole face begins to melt even further into a puddle of pallid flesh.
The quick elfin bard jumps over the prone madman and dashes up the stairs.

Akai will dash up the stairs with the rest of the party and launch another Fire Bolt (at disadvantage against the prone enemy) as he reaches the mausoleum exit.
Falshen will also dash away, making for the exit. However, he will pause at outdoor exit just long enough ensure all of his companions are out or on their way out.
Pelting pell-mell out of the Garloth Mausoleum, any member of the party who glances over his shoulder sees their new friend just barely manage to crawl out of the tomb behind them, the gilded arm reaching out in a last silent gesture of...who knows?
And then his form wholly disintegrates, leaving nothing behind but a heap of soft, white, gently steaming slurry.
You are standing (running?) in the City of the Dead. You possess the Stone(?). What next?

Falshen looks about for any eavesdroppers. Perception check: 4
"I'd rather wait until we get back. In my experience with such things, mind-influencing objects require direct contact. Though, I admit that my past experience entails only a tangenrial encounter with an object which was a weapon of evil and madness, so perhaps it functioned differently. Even so, let's get somewhere less open to prying eyes first."

Ian stops and looks at Falshen worriedly, “I am glad that you secured the stone when we were fighting off the creepy pale wizard monster that turned into a puddle of goo. But now your argument is that this potentially evil and possibly sentient murder-stone requires direct contact? What happens if it’s not touched? What happens if you don’t touch it? The stone was perfectly fine in the mausoleum until it seemingly just melted and destroyed a creature that also plausibly should have just killed us all and you are required to touch it? Friend, take the moment and distance yourself from the stone as we planned. It will only take a few seconds for Gregor to get the jar out and ready. We can touch it or not touch it all we want later at the manor.”
With a raised brow and a shrug, Falshen says, "If it will soothe your nerves... Gregor, would you be so kind as to ready the jar?"
Assuming Gregor does so, Falshen will utilize Mage Hand to quickly move the stone from his pocket to the jar and seal the lid (leaving the jar in Gregor's possession?).
Once sealed, Falshen adds, "Again, I suggest we make haste to a more secure location before we take further steps."

Ian may act.
Ian will cast Tasha’s Hideous Laughter.
Ian in reaction to the save will yell, “Who is that!?” While pointing incredulously at the top of the stairs.
Cutting Words on creatures saving throw: 6
If the spell prones the creature, he will move past him up the stairs and out of the tomb. Otherwise he will stay where he is.
Saving Throw: 21 - 5

Irma glances at Ian's scamper and moves to dash up the stairs.
Athletics: 19
Wisdom Save against Tasha’s Hideous Laughter: 10
The half-liquefied figure continues to thrash and gurgle in a diabolical parody of merriment on the steps of the mausoleum.
The party may act freely. Everyone please post your next immediate actions.

Akai will dash up the stairs with the rest of the party and launch another Fire Bolt (at disadvantage against the prone enemy) as he reaches the mausoleum exit.
Fire Bolt: Attack: 14 Damage: 6
Falshen will also dash away, making for the exit. However, he will pause at outdoor exit just long enough ensure all of his companions are out or on their way out.
Ian at the top of steps will use cutting words on Manshoon’s save after Akai’s attack only IF it hits. Regardless he says to his companions,
“FLY YOU FOOLS!”
Cutting Words: 5 ”Its okay to cry when you’re having a melt down”
Gregor flies.

Looking about at his companions, Falshen enquires, "Back home to take stock?"
"Krrr! A wise idea!" Akai agrees eagerly. "Foe beaten, and treasure claimed! Now to return and plan next steps!"
Ian says to Falshen,
"Best put that stone in the glass jar"
