Back at the hideout, Gregor pours himself a drink and rattles the stone in its jar, "This is a problem. Manshoon is potentially a much bigger one. I recommend that we alert the Watchful Order to his presence."
” That will certainly help distract his attention from murdering us, our staff, our loved ones, our business acquaintances, and anyone who has so much as been associated with us.”
"Excellent. I'll head there at once, afterwards... something about that stone strikes me as familiar. I'll need to do some research though, as I don't remember exactly WHY it seems familiar."
Falshen will ask Gregor to hold before leaving. "Companions, before anyone goes anywhere, perhaps we should make security arrangements to keep the stone safe. After all, multiple groups have shown intense - and, in some cases, deadly - interest in acquiring it. How shall we ensure no one takes it from us?"
Akai contributes an idea: "Leave it in tavern, out of sun and sight! Keep it secret and safe 'til we all ready to strike out and claim wealth and glory! Akai has fire and fury enough to drive out thieves and trespassers, and no need to venture out in blinding lights! Walking-bird and tavern-ghost can watch for sneaks, and Akai can burn them out!
Tavern-ghost! What say you?" he calls for some sign of the poltergeist's agreement.
Prior to turning in, Gregor reveals that the Watchful Order is taking the Manshoon threat seriously, but are hesitant to move on Kolat Towers due to some political concerns. At the very least, eyes are on the situation.
He also reveals that he did some research and found out why the stone looked familiar to him: The three vertical eye motif is strikingly similar to depictions he has seen of enormous and enormously powerful psionic amphibians called Aboleths. He does not know if the design is an homage or if the stone is in fact some sort of Aboleth artifact.
Falshen, likewise, pauses before bed to inform the group that his day's investigations allowed him to uncover certain details of the Stone. "It seems to behave like most powerful magical artifacts - one must attune to it if one hopes to unlock its secrets. However, It is said that only a strong-willedsoul should undertake to commune with the thing as it may have a mind of its own. I recommend we proceed with care and take what precautions we may against malevolence prior to any attempted attunement."
[OOC: Falshen is highly intelligent, but only adequately wise. Realizing that much depends upon what it means to be strong-willed, Falshen is willing to attempt the attunement if no one else wants to try.]
Irma reports the Order of the Gauntlet's news to the group and how little the Order themselves know about Manshoon or whether they are withholding information. Irma tells Falshen he can buff him and ward him with: Protection from Evil and Good and Sanctuary. If he wishes to continue investigating the stone.
Sanctuary: You ward a creature within range against attack. Until the spell ends, any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell. This spell doesn't protect the warded creature from area effects, such as the explosion of a fireball. If the warded creature makes an attack, casts a spell that affects an enemy, or deals damage to another creature, this spell ends.
Protection from Evil and Good:
Until the spell ends, one willing creature the paladin's touches is protected against certain types of creatures: aberrations, celestials, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead.
The protection grants several benefits. Creatures of those types have disadvantage on attack rolls against the target. The target also can't be charmed, frightened, or possessed by them. If the target is already charmed, frightened, or possessed by such a creature, the target has advantage on any new saving throw against the relevant effect.
Akai cracks an audacious grin. "So, only strong of spirit can control eye-stone? Kahah! Akai is glad to take this challenge! Akai will show stone's 'masters' his might! Then to conquest and glory!"
"If anyone gives the Kobold the stone, I will personally stab them unless we can find an all stone room and a blast shield first." Gregor says before going upstairs.

Irma nods in agreement, "I agree, let's head back where we may regroup."
Back at the hideout, Gregor pours himself a drink and rattles the stone in its jar, "This is a problem. Manshoon is potentially a much bigger one. I recommend that we alert the Watchful Order to his presence."

Gregor will head out asap.

Tavern-ghost! What say you?" he calls for some sign of the poltergeist's agreement.
The glasses on the shelves rattle in a show of dusty enthusiasm.
Gregor shrugs, "I can prepare an alarm spell for whatever hiding spot we choose. It may not be much, but it's better than nothing."
Irma nods in agreement to the stone protection plan.
Then Akai will remain in the tavern during the daytime to guard the stone/blast intruders.

Gregor laughs and says no. He plans on spending tomorrow trying to secure a means to Identify the artifact for a less risky means of understanding it.
Before he turns in, he sets his alarm spells and adds an extra one for the artifact.
Ian says,
”I have no desire to touch the thing.”
Ian will sleep in his armor tonight.

Irma will now head to bed assuming all conversations are done.
Falshen plans to retire and take Irma up on the offered spells in the morning, if the group wishes to attempt to active the stone.
