Peris sidesteps the pirate's slash and watches his shirt buttons bounce off the deck. 'Sallright -- we're due a new shirt anyway. With silver buttons! He wrenches his spear free of the deck and swings it in a wide arc behind his back, then right at the pirate's head. Attack10 + 2 for 11 damage.
(Assuming a 12 misses) Peri launches a flying knee at the pirate's chin Attack11 + 4 for 6 damage. "Shoulda' gave up. Still time t'drop your butter-knife."
((Good thing Peri's before Dwal in initiative -- that bless made the difference!))
"Duke Feldern does not suffer the Sea Prince's smugglers to ply his waters, scum," answers Gerrad, stabbing at the crewman with his rapier, then following up with another quick jab (either at the crewman if he is still up or the captain, using his action surge). Gerrard continues using the fan, keeping the wind where it is (should affect the three up there unless the further away crewman moved off to the side).

Gerrard Feldren - Human Noble in Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
Grabbing the coil of rope nearest the forecastle he attempts to open the hatch to the hold. "Ahoy! If ye want your freedom now is the time. Rise up against these scurvy ridden scum and join us. Freedom awaits."He ties the rope to the bottom of the mast and lowers it into the hold.
Qivys springs open the large cargo catch, and, tying one end to the mast, throws down the coil into the hold. Looking up at him, however, is not a slave but a confused and well-armed woman with half her face covered in a skull tattoo, together with a handful of other rough-looking characters in leather. "What ...?" she asks. They appear agitated and distracted and alarmed by something going on down there. You can't see the whole hold, but it appears fairly full of bolts of cloth and casks. She swivels her crossbow and points it at Qivys' face. "Frithoff! Another one!" she shouts.
Peri, meanwhile, clobbers his opponent with a might crack of the spear across his skull. The crewman is out cold, drooling on the deck. Peri launches his flying knee anyway, just for flourish.
Looking around, he takes stock of the forecastle for the first time. In the center of the deck area is the ship’s capstan. From it, the anchor chain runs down the chain vent to port of the prow.
Dwal lands a smashing blow to his attacker's chest with his glowing warhammer, knocking his attacker back a few feet behind the doorway and sending his crossbow flying. He is seriously injured but not giving up yet. Behind him he sees four more pirates, including a large man in studded leather with a warhammer and a hook for hand, and a hold full of cargo.
The pirate returns the attack with a flash of a hooked blade. Attack: 9. Slashing Damage: 3
Two more fire their own crossbows at Dwal, firing dangerously close to their compatriot. Crossbow attack #1: 12. Piercing Damage: 8 Crossbow attack #2: 8. Piercing Damage: 8
Adding Foul Frithoff to the initiative: 19
Dwal easily parries the blade; the two bolts fly wide.
Frithoff and the fourth crewmember, a tattoo-faced woman are distracted by Qivys above them. She fires her crossbow at Qivys: Crossbow attack #2: 10. Piercing Damage: 7
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Meanwhile, Gerrard is attacked by both the Captain and his crewman.
The crewman abandons his crossbow and lunges forward, successfully fighting to move against the powerful arcane wind. Reaching Gerrard, he swings his scimitar: Scimitar attack: 18. Damage: 2
Gerrard parries the blow. (Using a second superiority die to negate 4 of the scimitar strike.)
The captain goes next. "D'ye want t' die easy or die hard?" he asks, and spits on the deck. He takes another massive swing with both hands on his longsword: Longsword attack: 20. Damage: 10
(OOC: Sorry - I keep pushing my luck with the edits. The numbers are still good - Gerrard takes no damage after expending another superiority die, and the captain missed.)
OOC: Did the wind blow the captain or the crewman back this round? It takes a bonus action to re-direct the wind, but they should have both still been in the wind--and Gerrard had a bonus action to spare if you rule he needed to 'refresh' the wind, so they need to make the Strength DC 13 saves to not be blown back.
Giving up on the wind fan for now, Gerrard quickly slips it into a pocket and draws his off-hand parrying blade, stabbing with both blades at the verbose captain. "I'm not the one dying tonight, smuggler."

Peri:
Having finished off the crossbowman, Peri surveys the field. Astoundingly, Gerrard is alone on the poop deck, dueling with the Captain. Fancy Lad knows his business with that sword, he thinks, impressed. He sees the nobleman stab the captain twice and takes advantage of the distraction to fire an eldritch blast24 at the captain. 7 damage
Then he vaults over the rail to land nimbly upon the deck -- Acrobatics7 -- and runs toward the after ladder. As he nears the open deck hatch he hears the commotion from below and looks down. "Arvoreen's arms, ya dwarves have kicked open the wasps' nest now!"
(He will end the turn as near as he can to the aft ladder, to the port side of the open hatch.)
Dwal will make his way into the thick of the pirates. He will raise his hammer and strike the one pirate he struck before.

Qivys
Peri runs by him shouting something about bees. "What in the Forge are you on about pint size?" he shouts back as the halfling nears the aft ladder.
The tattooed woman draws Qivs' attention with her comment. Dwal must be downstairs. That sealed the deal. He drops down the freshly secured line. (Skill check? 2 unmodified) "Not just another one lady! The last one you'll ever see! Argghh"
If he lands on his feet he'll attack the tattooed woman
Attack: 12 Damage: 9
If he lands...less gracefully, he'll spend any movement he has left regaining his balance.
Qivys slides down the rope and lands with a satisfyingly impressive clank of his platemail ...and on his feet, yet!
With a swing of his glowing hammer, he crushes the skull-faced woman in one blow. Down and out. Promise kept.
Meanwhile, in a parallel move, Dwal crushes the wounded sailor who'd attacked him with his own glowing hammer. The man's body flies onto a row of carefully stowed casks. Another one down.
Dwal has struck uncertainty into the hearts of the two remaining crewmen - they pause. Hook-handed Foul Frithoff, however, pulls out his own hammer and grins with a mouth full of rotten teeth.
Peri fires a beam of crackling purple energy down the length of the ship, narrowly missing the captain. With a graceful leap and a sprint across the deck, he finds himself between the cargo hatch and the ladder to the poop deck.
Everyone may act.
Dwal
Dwal will look around and say: "Ye lads have come to the end of yer run of thieving and slaving. I'm here to make ye pay for the things ye done."
Dwal will use his bonus action to cast Divine Favor on himself. If the pirate is in range he will attack.
Hit: 18 Damage: 5 Divine Damage: 1

Gerrard skewers the crewman again. This time he crumbles to the deck, dead.
With a burst of adrenaline, Gerrard takes a second swing at the captain, who easily parries it.
"Feldren??" laughs the captain, heartily. "Boy, you stepped aboard the wrong ship."

Sorry. Forgot the Divine Favor 3
(You're totally correct - I managed to forget how the fan worked. Sorry about that! Amends will come in mysterious ways.)
Gerrard manages to strike the captain twice; drawing blood for the first time. The captain doesn't even flinch; this guy looks tough.
"Smuggler? What does that make you?" retorts the captain.
Qivys slides down the rope and lands with a satisfyingly impressive clank of his platemail ...and on his feet, yet!

The hook cuts straight through Qivys' plate and into his shoulder. In addition, he is grappled. (Escape DC 13)
