Carefully skirting the edge of the red-hot pit and over the blasted pieces of iron door and stone, Gerrard, Dwal, and Boko venture back through the vampiric jade statue room and into the chamber where the two living iron statues were so recently encountered.
Boko looks and listens carefully, but all is still and quiet.
This room is a large square whose ceiling is held up by two massive gray granite pillars. The walls, floor, and ceiling are made of shiny black iron, and several bags, chests, and urns lie scattered about, together with a large chest in the northwest corner.
Looking at the door the iron statues broke through in the treasure room, Gerrard says, “Well, I don’t think we can close the door behind us, but at least we can rest and mend a bit.”
Noticing Boko looking around, Gerrard does so as well, asking, “Do you see anything g dangerous, Mistress Boko, or should we be able to bandage and rest here while we search through the treasure?”
Help with searching if Boko wants to roll for advantage…
OOC: Suggesting a thorough examination of the treasure and a short rest.

Peri whoops in victory as the statues crash back into the pit. "I don't think we've ever had a plan go so well! That door was a brilliant move! Well done indeed!" At Gerrard's suggestion of a rest, "Sure, and now you're the one's banged up, we get to take a kip. Well I'm not gonna argue; that jade thing did a number on me."
He follows the others into the iron room. Seeing the gleam in Kei's eye, Peri warns him, "Just cuz the guardians are dead doesn't mean there's no traps in here! Take care 'fore you get another poison dart shot at ya." He surveys the room with his eldritch sight and reports any magical auras he detects before leaning back against a wall and binding up his wounds.
((Hit Dice if we're able to get in a Short Rest: 5; 5; 8))
Peri examines the room for any magical signatures, and he finds them - the iron walls themselves have an arcane aura from the school of illusion, and the large chest in the corner seems to have a few arcane contents of an indeterminate school of origin. He also gets a faint glimmer of something deeper, behind the walls of the southeast corner of the room, also of the school of illusion.
Is Boko making a second round of perception within the room (and with Gerrard's help)? And if so, anything you're looking for in particular?
Are you all intending to spend a full hour-long short rest here, as Peri suggests?
"We can stay and rest." Dwal suggets. "But, there are folks back in tha other room that I wouldn't trust an' our boat ain't guarded. I'll heal you folks as much as I can but I say we find out what's here then get back to tha folk that are ta be judged by tha council in Saltmarsh."
Boko accepts Gerard's help, looking around more, specifically for traps, and any treasure, including the snowglobe: (adv perception roll: 10)
She walks to the walls and tries to touch them in various places after she finds out there is illusion magic on them. And special attention in the southeast corner.
"Dwal is right, we do not want to leave them alone for much longer. Let's look around here, find anything we can, and return. Was anyone counting ghosts? Was that last one the last one? I can also help heal in the meantime."
A close examination of the walls reveals that the shiny black iron is an illusion - the walls appear to be made of the same stone-and-brick composition as the rest of this complex, with an illusion laid upon it to give the appearance of iron. The southeast corner is no different, and the walls there are as solid as elsewhere. Peri reports that the secondary illusion is somewhere behind the wall in that direction.
The bags, chests, and urns scattered about are closed, and no traps are apparent. Same with the large chest in the northwest corner.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kei
"Indeterminate you say? So, a little bit of everything...that's what I like to hear" Kei heads straight for the chest. Carelessly, he goes straight to open it. At the last minute he thinks to look for traps or hidden mechanisms. "Can't have you diving to save me twice in a day" he jokes with Boko as he caresses the latch. He quietly whispers to the unseen spirits that inhabit his cards - seeking guidance on how best to proceed.
Investigation 3 + 3
Regardless of the outcome of his search his desire to open the chest gets the better of him. He opens the chest lid slowly.
At the word there are no detected traps on the bags or urns, Gerrard starts opening them up and bringing them to the center of the room so their contents can be seen by all.

Boko helps to go through every container and hidden opening possible. She doesn't understand why the man she's never met needs a snowglobe but she doesn't want this trip to have been a waste.
After examining the chest and finding nothing alarming, Kei opens it. It contains five bolts of expensive-looking silk, two stoppered reddish potions, a fancy bag decorated with beads and small mirrors, and a set of high-quality dwarven-made armor.
Gerrard looks through the sacks and urns. The bags are full of hundreds or thousands of gold and silver coins, many centuries old by the looks of them. The urns are full of jewels, in a wide variety of sizes and colors. Unlike the fake treasure in the other room, this looks genuine.
Boko opens the fancy bag. It has an interior space considerably larger than its outside dimensions and is apparently magical in nature. In it is a small cloudy glass globe, weathered and warn, with a miniature model of a narrow black tower embedded inside.
Boko holds up the globe. "This is what we were seeking. Can someone remind me of why this man wants it again?"
She also offers to carry the other items in the bag, testing it to see if the odd larger internal dimensions also mean that the bag does not get correspondingly heavier.
Peri's eyes goggle at the fortune. Between their cut of Aubrek's treasury and this heap of gold and jewels, they've gone from just barely squeaking by to being fairly wealthy men in just a couple of weeks. Well, except for Lord Feldren, of course. He was doin' all right already. When Boko holds up the crystal globe he feels a surge of triumph. "That there is what's keepin' old Peleg cooped up in the tower on the next rock over. Or it's the key, maybe. Whatever it is, we came here to find it and smash it, to let the old man go free. Truth to tell, now you're holdin' it I'm a little leery of breakin' him out. He said he ran afoul of the cultists here and they shut him up over there, and I didn't hear anything in his story to make me believe otherwise. Plus he had some angels -- looked like angels, anyway -- flittin' around him. His guardians, he called 'em. So everything seems to point to him bein' an innocent victim of the cult. Still, there's no way to be certain he's not some evil demigod and this place was set up to keep folks from turnin' him loose on the world. Sounds crazy, but we've been smack in the middle of crazy for weeks now."
He scratches his chin and squints at the globe, trying to glean some clue from it. ((No roll -- there's no way in the world Peri knows enough about magic, religion, or history to gain any insight from looking at the thing.)) Finally he shrugs. "Well, we probably don't want to break it here anyway. I've heard enough stories to know as soon as you break the magic thing, the ancient temple starts collapsin' and you gotta run for your life! Besides, who knows what'll happen to the old man's tower? I'd hate to end the curse only to have the tower sink and drown him. I say we gather up the loot we found, put the globe back in the magic bag, and take our passengers back to Saltmarsh. There could still be a good bit of temple left to explore down here too, though you know it'll be full of traps."
Peri finds nothing extraordinary about the old glass globe, clouded with scratches and age. It looks like a forgotten toy or some cheap decorative trinket that once sat on some old person's mantel in Saltmarsh, but is now ready for the trash bin. His Eldritch Sight corroborates its magical content, however; its school unknown.
Meanwhile, Boko confirms that the bag doesn't get heavier from its contents. You probably could put the entirety of the treasure from this room into this sack without overburdening it.
Dwal says little, letting the party take pride in the events and the treasure found. He pockets the Goodberry's Boko gave him for a "just in case" situation, Dwal knows they have to get things settled, then move back to the "prisoners" then make their way to the boat and then make to trip across to Saltmarsh.
"Mistress Boko, you found it!" exclaims Gerrard, moving over and looking at the crystal globe. At Peri's words, he says, "I have no idea what effect the globe will have on this hidden temple when we break it, but Peleg did save us from dying of thirst and hunger when we were stranded at sea, and we promised to do this for him if we could, so we should destroy it as soon as possible."
"I am curious as to why the treasure was not already all in this magic bag, if it can contain so much...Perhaps this is a trap as well, and it is cursed to consume the treasure we have found if we place it in there. I have a magical bag bought from the Procan temple that has served me well so far--perhaps we should fill it first with the most valuable treasure, just in case the newly found magic bag is somehow another trap in this place of many traps," suggests Gerrard.
OOC: Gerrard's own bag of holding can take up to 500 lbs total, of which he has only used 57 lbs.
"As far as leaving this place, I am all for returning to the prisoners to ensure they are still secured while we rest and recover, but we should discuss what to do next. If we can ensure this hidden temple is totally cleared, we can inform the Saltmarsh Council of such and they will know we have succeeded in one of the tasks they had for us. I would like to shatter the globe and go pick up Peleg as we had said we would try to do, but I expect he could probably get off the tower island using his own capabilities once the magical trap is destroyed, i going back to his island is impractical," muses Gerrard.
"I have also thought about the prisoners themselves, how generous the temple of Procan has been to us, and how their previous devotion to a mad sea god perhaps may fall better under Procan's purview than Saltmarsh Council's responsibility," Gerrard suggests, saying, "So if we want to let them see justice at the hand of the Procanites instead of the Saltmarsh Council, I would be fine with that course of action if it would be more palatable to the rest of you."
