"I had came out here ta check on tha storm an' tha bird-thing" he tells Boko. "an' when I came out I saw tha bird-thing over by that tree." Dwal points to the tree. "It bent it's head down an tore out tha man's heart. It looked up an' I think it saw me so it took off."
Dwal pauses and strokes his beard. "If'n it pulled that man off a ship, makes me suspect either tha pirates our prisoners dealt with are about or, its their fellow cultist. Either way it may mean another fight on our hands an' greed an' blind obedience may have put us to a disadvantage."
((OOC: Peri is smart enough to know that these passages are turning back on themselves, but without a map he wouldn't know that this door is one they've seen from the other side. He thinks this is just another door.))
He follows Kei, who seems to have forgotten about the acid pits and the tripwires as he forges ahead. "You wanna open that door yourself? Did you fail to notice every door in this place has been trapped?" He offers to once again use the mage hand.
Staying out of the way around the corner from any falling masonry or ballista bolts, Gerrard nonetheless has his blades out and ready to rush forward if foes reveal themselves.
"Let us keep searching carefully the doors from a distance, then the walls for hidden doors or compartments. When we have satisfied ourselves that the place is truly clear of additional dangers, we can rejoin the others at the entryway," he suggests.

The light of Gerrard's moonblade throws a faint light along the thin wire connecting the door to the roof of the hall. He holds up his hand to stop the others from approaching. "This is either a release for another deadfall or maybe to a secret passage. Whichever it may be I think it's best if your magic hand give this a tug." He corrales the group back out of harm's way and waits. Unseen to the others he crosses fingers on both hands and whispers under his breath "Treasure. Treasure"
Peri opens the door remotely. Trapped, as suspected, but this trap is a little different from the others. A vial falls to the floor from a hidden compartment and shatters; a yellow gas is released in a 10-foot-by-10-foot area around the (fortunately vacant) doorway, its effects unknown.
"Huh, that's one we haven't seen yet. Good to get some variety down here. I don't know what the stuff in that vial was, but I'd like to get some to hang onto. Never know when it might come in handy." He looks through the door and recognizes the room. "I'll be a -- Those things were just guardin' the back door to this room? Well that's just -- I'm really startin' to hate these people!" He stomps through the room and looks through the secret door to the hallway beyond. Without waiting for anyone's input he mage hand flings the last door open.
Boko carefully examines the body, checking the pockets and examining his garb closely. He definitely appears to be a sailor. His clothes and hair are saturated in saltwater as if he had recently been plucked straight out of the sea. His pockets are empty save for a single gold piece, the markings on which definitely suggest he had recently been in the Hold of the Sea Princes. He is undoubtedly one of the many pirates from that realm who raid these waters. He is empty-handed. There is nothing in the scrubby area around the stunted tree other than a little blood, and no sign of the bird.
Dwal returns to the cellar, and in the shelter from the wet, cold, gusty wind.

Meanwhile Peri, waiting for the gas to clear, makes his way to the final doorway. Using his mage hand again, he pulls it open, revealing an ordinary hallway with another door at the end. He sees neither traps nor magic in that direction.

Gerrard:
The young noble moves up behind Peri and says, "Remember your own warning and watch out for traps as you proceed." In the glow of his elegant rapier, Gerrard motions for Kei to come up and join them, as he has been excellent in his searching for traps when he was not being too impulsive as well...Come to think of it, the three of them just seem to take turns being cautious and reckless--where are Dwal and Boko when you need them?

Boko nods to Dwal and goes back inside. She stops by the door to the prisoners. "Ever seen a giant bird flying about out there?" she says to Bayleaf through the door.
She also listens for any activity of the rest of the group.

Boko calls through the barricaded kitchen door. Bayleaf pauses to think about it. History check: 3
..."No." He pauses again. "There's that thing they call 'Rasp' up north. It's been hunting up north of Seaton for years, attacking fishing boats and passenger ships. Why - you seen one? Is that what all that noise was? You guys going to take care of it?"
Peri advances and peers carefully around the corner near the closed door, followed by Gerrard and (presumably) Kei. More corridor.
Peri's sharp eyes spot a tripwire about halfway down the hall. And while his Devil's Sight sees nothing more, his Eldritch Sight identifies another patch of illusory floor at the end of the hallway.

Peri:
"Guess what, more traps!" he tells his companions. "One tripwire in the hall, another illusion pit down in the bend." He edges down the hallway toward the tripwire and draws a chalk line in front of it, then another behind it. Rather than leaving it behind, however, he investigates6 the trap, following the wire in the hope of finding another vial of poison.
After carefully marking it, Peri examines the trap closely. It looks very similar to the other tripwire traps here - rigged to pull a large piece of the ceiling down atop anyone unfortunate enough to spring it. No gas vials, alas.
Carefully stepping over the marked tripwire and peering around and over the illusory area, Peri sees more: another dark hallway ending in another door. And at least two more traps – another tripwire midway, and another slightly mismatched floor area that looks like another trapdoor trap.
Bayleaf calls out to Boko and Dwal. "You kill that bird yet? We used to have some big crows eat our corn. That's what them statues were supposed to be for. Then we just shot at them with crossbows."
Moving carefully with Kei down the trap-littered hallway after the perceptive Peri, Gerrard asks, “Did we skip that door to the south Master Kei, or do we know it is just covers a blank wall?”

Gerrard's voice gives Kei a start. "Don't scare a guy like that" his concentration obviously on the hallway and any traps. He takes a moment to bring his attention to where the two were standing. "I think you're right. Seems our anxious trap detector has missed one." He grins at Peri's mistake, glad it wasn't his own. He calls out to the hasty halfling "You missed one! I guess the handle was too high you couldn't see it!" He takes a step down the hallway towards the tripwire and waits for Peri to return to have his magical appendage open the door.
