When Peri leaves Dwal will clap Qivys on the back saying: "We will aid ye in your endeavors Qivys".
Dwal drains his cup then stands. He looks at Qivys and says: "Mourn not too long for those that pass lad. They return to the forge whence they came. The Master Forger will take them in and decide their fates now." he says.
Dwal then stretches out his hands, hovering over Qivys a moment and say a short prayer: "Moradin's blessing be on ye this night. May the comfort of his forge warm your soul and it's spark relight the light and peace in your soul."
Dwal lowers his hands ans smiles. "Till the morn lad."
With that Dwal leaves to go find his room, his bed for the night.
Qivys heads out into the night. The town is cold and quiet, and he manages to get back to the Mariner's Guildhall without incident. Red is already asleep when he arrives.
Peri stumbles upstairs and falls asleep quickly.
Alone, Dwal observes his fellow company employees become increasingly inebriated, and wonders how he is going to tell the boss he can't work tomorrow.
By the time Qivys crosses town, crosses the bridge, and catches up with Dwal, he's soaking wet.
They are immediately hailed by a group of town guards walking horses. Farbern is with them. Irritated that only two of you bothered to show up, Farbern commands a couple of guards to go and find Peri and Red.
He introduces the guards who will be leading the expedition. It's a sad-looking lot. "Butter" is a grouchy old man of maybe 65. Farley is teenaged goon with terrible acne (Qivys remembers meeting him the other night.) Missy is a young, white-haired tiefling with grey skin and pale freckles. And Seth is their dubious commander - a young man with long blond hair falling out of his feather-plumed helmet.
The four guards each have a mount; there are four sickly-looking horses ready for each of you, as well.

Qivys
Upon catching up to Dwal " Well met brother. A sad day is upon us. May Pelors light guide us today."
As he approaches Farbern he immediately begins apologising for Reds absence. "Forgive my tiefling companion, she has come down ill at the Mariners Hall along with a handful of the sailors. I shall cover her workload today. As for Peri, I fear that is my fault. My new friends indulged my grieving last night and I don't think a Halfling can keep up with a pair of dwarves. I'm sure he will be along shortly."
Qiv snorts as he is helped onto the horse. They've never been a friend to the squat dwarf.
(OoC: I was soooo expecting to have to pick Qiv up off his dwarven derriere. With perhaps a mouthful of dirt to boot. But NOW I roll a natural 20, where was that during the battle of Sanbalet?)
An enormous woman in leather appears with Peri, who looks a bit harried and discombobulated. In a little show for her colleagues, the woman grabs him gently by his collar and grins to her friends up the hill.
Dwal, meanwhile, mounts his horse respectfully, albeit not as masterfully as Qivys.

A thin, cold drizzle continues to fall.
Peri mounts his sad-looking horse - 5 - without much trouble.
Seth - the young, long-haired guy with the feather-plumed helmet - barks at you. "I'm not gonna wait for the fourth one of you. She'll probably wind up in the stocks. We move out now."
The big woman in leather leads the fourth horse up the hill, and the rest of you head toward the city gates.
There are seven of you: - Two dwarves, Qivys and Dwal - One hungover halfling, Peri - A young tiefling, Missy - A shifty-eyed teenaged goon with bad skin, Farley - A grouchy old guy, Butter. - Your already unpleasant young leader, Seth.
Farley, Butter, and Seth all wear chain mail, and wield longswords and heavy crossbows. Missy is only wearing a wet jacket, and appears to be unarmed. All four wear the town guard’s badge — the green reed of Saltmarsh.
He wraps his oilskin tighter around him, glaring at the sodden sky. Could be worse -- could be bright and sunny and hot. Not that an excess of sunlight seems to be a problem around here. He nudges his horse toward the dwarves. "A somber morning for a somber task. I apologize if I seemed flippant last night; it's why I shouldn't drink at funerals, but it's how we send off our fallen. About how far is it to this accursed mansion that holds your friends?"
About how far is it to this accursed mansion that holds your friends?"
"You'll show us where Onald is, first, then we'll deal with your old house," snaps Seth.
You stop for a few minutes at the city gate. Butter swaps out his riding steed for a horse and wagon, already prepared by a pair of gate guards. The rest of you remain saddled. The gate guards laugh loudly with Butter at some horse-related joke you can't quite hear. Butter hops on the seat in the front of the open wagon and takes the reins.
You continue on. The rain begins to pick up a little.
Missy bites her lip to keep from talking until they're outside the city gates before manoeuvring so she's beside Qivys and Peri, looking at them with curious eyes.
"They don't tell us much but... you where there? When Onald was... dropped? You saw the blob?" She speaks in a hushed voice.
"We were indeed. The four of us -- me, Dwal here, your Onald, and a boy -- we were down there,"he points down the hill in the direction of the moor. "We were searchin' for a strange light, when what should appear but a huge, white stag! We were all amazed and tryin' to figure what to do about it, when it all of a sudden bolts away. Then this strange silvery boat just pops right out of the hillside, crewed by some sort of creatures I've never before seen. They harpoon the stag, and then the four of us are all dragged into a weird silvery place. The ethereal plane, I'm guessin', though I know aught about it, so maybe it's nothin' to do with the ethereal plane. Who knows?
"Well, just then me and Dwal pop out, back into the world, and crash down onto the ground. I had ahold of the boy but he must've torn loose, because we never saw him again. When we popped out, one of Qivys's companions was dragged in, and we haven't seen her either. The boat just looks like a blob of silver, like a school of anchovies, you know? I gets a ways off, then out pops your Onald. I don't know if he was already dead when he popped out or if the fall killed him, but there was no revivin' him when we got to him."
"The stag didn't seem to mind you? But then it ran just before the boat appeared, like it knew it was coming? And all you saw was the boat? Not the blob? Until you got sucked into it? And what could you see in this silvery place? You mention the ethereal plane, so presumably you could still mostly just see this plane? And those creatures, did you get a good enough look to describe them? Did they look different in the ethereal plane or the same? Wait - are you saying the blob was the boat?" Missy leans in as close to Peri as she can while they're riding horses, her voice still hushed but rising a bit as she talks.

(We'll start at the tower the next morning, shortly. I'll post in the next few hours. Check your PMs!)
This is your fourth day in Saltmarsh. It's been a tough four days.
It's a cold and rainy day; dismal weather for a long hike mandated by the Guard. You're expected to be at the Tower at sunrise.

Make an Animal Handling check, when you're ready.
Dwal
After calling out to Qivys, Dwal will follow along to the guardhouse.
(OCC: in anticipation of the days events Dwal prayed before leaving, changing his prepared cleric spells for the day.)
Qivys
Upon catching up to Dwal " Well met brother. A sad day is upon us. May Pelors light guide us today."

Animal Handling 15
After his initial reservations, Qivys mounts his horse like he was born to ride.
Farbern nods, mutters something to Seth, turns, and climbs the hill upon his finely carved wooden peg leg.
Everyone looks silently down the hill at the Wicker Goat, expectantly.
Dwal
"So we are on our own for now?" Dwal asks.
Dwal looks at the horse, "Never had use for these beasts". he says, "A good Mule does a Dwarf much better than such a beast"
Dwal will try and mount a horse but, don't hold him to it or controlling the beast.
Animal handling: 8
(OoC: I was soooo expecting to have to pick Qiv up off his dwarven derriere. With perhaps a mouthful of dirt to boot. But NOW I roll a natural 20, where was that during the battle of Sanbalet?)
(OCC: ther was a bad Omen involved in all that so.... :P)
Yeehaw! It's Qivys the Kid!

Dwal
"Note to self, get a hooded cloak." Dwal thinks to himself.
Before the party begins Dwal will get in front of everyone and say a prayer:
"By Moradin's will, may this journey be blessed and guided by the Master Forger and by his will he bless us with success."
With that Dwal will set out with the rest of the party.
Missy
Missy bites her lip to keep from talking until they're outside the city gates before manoeuvring so she's beside Qivys and Peri, looking at them with curious eyes.
