Unless you have further business on the harbor, your pilot pulls the skiff up to the edge of a marshy area where it looks like several buildings had collapsed years ago. A series of slime-covered planks make a primitive scaffolding to tie up and debark the skiff.
"I dunno where you're headed, but we're safer here than out there," he grumbles.
Qivys will quickly use Prestidigitation to clean the slime off of the dead priest. "Wouldn't be right ta leave her that way." he says as he does so. Once the boat reaches the shore Qivys will help move the body off the boat.
With the boat ashore his legs seem to regain their ability to jump. Thwack launches from the deck and lands on the slick makeshift jetty. "Whoa" he catches himself as he slips on the scum coated timber.
The party finds itself on the slippery scaffolding on the edge of waterfront ruins, carrying the cleaned-up body of Janore. Paths lead everywhere, and there is evidence of habitation. The city surrounds them; this appears to be just a partially-abandoned open section. A rickety bridge leads across a wide canal to the south toward a run-down manor. Further toward the west, behind some nondescript (if architecturally-jumbled) buildings, you can see Thornwell Tower looming – the tallest structure in the Styes, a pinnacle of black and red marble surrounded by a stone wall. Far to the south, in the direction of the canal, you can just make out Hopene'er Asylum, an enormous, windowless stone structure.
The boatman proceeds to depart along the edge of the marsh in his skiff, whistling an off-key tune.
"This look like my home. Cave everywhere. On top each other." Thwacks eyes wander from left to right taking in the similarities between the ramshackle buildings and his old warren. Anyone looking close enough would see a tear welling in his eyes. For the first time since Peri rescued him from his island prison he actually was beginning to miss his clan.
Looking at his own disheveled state, Gerrard looks over and asks, “Master Qivys, might you help me rid myself of the grime from the harbor—in case we need to speak with the nobles.”
He asks Boko, still in awe from her mastery over the water, “Mistress Alcor, what do you wish to do with the body?”

Gerrard:
”Thank you,” responds Gerrard sincerely, also hoping Boko has a plan for the body that doesn’t involve lugging it around. He looks at it to see what killed the priest so quickly and completely….

“Shall we go to the Asylum next, or straight to the tower? I am thinking a bit of research may be helpful for the local murders, but warning the authorities about the undead invasion should probably take first priority,” asks Gerrard.
(Maybe you can gain access to information and witnesses that I can’t. You could go ask at Hopene’er Asylum, where Jarme was held for a few days after his capture. And maybe speak with Constable Jute, the militia guard who found Jarme crouched over his victim. She's at the district garrison. They'd never talk to me.")

"We came to warn 'em of the undead. Let's get that over with first. Then I'm going lookin' for Kei. As for the murders, if they were convinced they got their man, so much that they hanged him, well good on 'em. Case closed. Besides, we just watched two murders by somethin' in the harbor. If no one cares about that, I don't know why they're in a twist over a coupla more murders on land."
He begins stomping off toward the tower as he speaks.
Thwack starts to follow Peri but then pauses mid step as he doesn't hear the others following. He stands between the departing halfling and the others who appear to be formulating a plan. His head twists side to side anxiously. After what seems like minutes he quickly dashes to catch up to Peri.
"We going without the other?" he enquires as he looks back over his shoulder.
”Going to the tower first is perfectly reasonable, but I don’t want to leave Janore’s body here in the boat for carrion birds to pick apart,” says Gerrard in response to Thwack’s question.

Peri turns around, still walking backwards up the hill, and says to Gerrard, "Shouldn't've washed the gunk off her then. Birds probably woulda left her alone. But if she's too far gone we can drag her up to that tower and hope -- against all reason -- that someone will resurrect her. Or we can throw her back in for her god to sort out."
He stops walking and asks, "What? You think she needs some last words? Her people are all dead, so we're the only ones left to speak for her. Fine, I'll give it a go, shall I?" He removes his hat and places it over his heart, and with mock solemnity intones, "Oh Great Lord of the Sea, receive one of Your most faithful followers. We didn't know her long. When terrors from the deep -- Your realm -- climbed up and slaughtered most of Your followers, she hid two of them in a basement and watched them nearly die of an evil curse. When we fought off another wave -- again, outta Your ocean -- she, uh, prayed I guess? And praised You for delivering them from death, though it was Boko saved me and Qivys, but nevermind all that. Indeed she traveled to this horrible, filthy, disgusting cesspit of misery and despair, just to deliver a warning, full of faith in her god, when she was suddenly snatched away by something evil from... Lemme see, was it the sky? The forest? Another plane? Oh no, wait, it was THE SEA! If only she'd had an in with some sorta power there..."
He shoves his hat back on and asks, "Good enough? Send her back to the protection of her god and let's go. Unless you think my eulogy so moved Procan that he might bestie His mighty ass to save this place Himself?"

Boko, as soon as the others were safely on land, takes off in winged form, and zooms for the tower. Her eyes seek the best pathway for the group to get to the tower, and she also looks for anything odd about the tower and its environs. She returns quickly.
Perception: 20
She is frustrated that Janore was killed and she could not immediately bring her back. Something pulled her into the water and killed her immediately. The group was just here to warn about an undeadly invasion, and then likely head back out to sea to the wreck to try to do something about it themselves. But this place has so many problems itself that she was beginning to doubt that it would care about an undead invasion, much less have anything to offer. And even more frustrating was the long series of unfinished problems and business she continued to leave behind her.
As she listens to the mock eulogy, she thinks, still in her bird brain, if there was any obvious place between here and the tower that seemed like a good place to put Janore, or if it would be safer to just bring her to the tower. If the latter, she considers grabbing the priestess in her talons and depositing her on the top of the tower or a balcony, and then returning to guide the party to the tower.
Qivys raps Peri on the head. "Ya best be more reverent than that hair toes." he scolds the halfling. "Yer life is that of tha sea an' mockin' tha divine whose abode is that very place has consequences. Tha gods watch an' listen an' if'n ya keep doing things ta offend them they might just reach out an' teach ya a lesson." Qivys pauses then says. "Tha dead listen too." That last part seems Qivys is reminding himself as well. Qivys pauses then looks to Gerrard. "Tha halfling's got a point though." he tells the noble. "Us luggin' a dead body around won't endear us ta tha local militia and we might end up on tha business end of a gallows. If'n these folk are anythin' like we've seen so far, we won't be dealin' with fair folk with kind hearts." Seeing Boko bird looking around Qivys considers something then tells her. "If'n yer lookin' fer a place ta take her body," he tells Boko bird. "Fly her out past this place ta open ocean an' drop her inta tha arms of her God."
At first Thwack starts chuckling at Peri's speech. About halfway through it begins to dawn on him that the halfling is actually speaking tongue in cheek. By the end, Thwack starts to slink away. He may not believe in this Procan figure but speaking ill of the gods was not something to take lightly, even for a kobold. He approaches Peri once he's finished and whispers "You OK Terry? You look angry at something. We go fix it? Together." His concern for Peri genuine. It was, after all, Peri who rescued him.
Gerrard can see the Janore has a hole in her back, and some kind of wound in her neck, but he has no idea which killed her.
BokoEagle spies the way forward. The neighborhood on the far side of the rickety bridge seems a little cleaner and kept up than, certainly, the ruins in which they currently stand, or the neighborhoods of the Styes they have trekked through to date, but yet there is something starker and grimmer about the buildings ahead. It seems to be a straightforward walk to get to Thornwell Tower - maybe 15 minutes along the waterfront. The tower itself is tall, thin and black, with few windows and fewer balconies, but several spiked peaks. It is constructed of polished black and red marble and is surrounded by a thick and humorless stone wall. A little nearer, a rundown manor just on the other side of the bridge has an old-fashioned arched entrance flanked by a pair of massive identical stone figures. Guards can be seen on the streets in front of both, patrolling in small groups.
As to finding a place to leave Janore, the canal and the small harbor appendage stretching to the southeast look just as filthy as the water they recently traversed. There are plenty of hiding places where they are, although many of them seem to serve occupants, currently absent. Thornwell Tower has a few high ledges and nooks where a body would likely rest unreachable and undisturbed, although it's hard to know how visible it would be there, or what defenses the building might hold.
An old man watches you from the ruins, smoking a filthy pipe. A few distant figures cross atop the ruins. The boatman has departed.
He snorts at Qivys. "Some gods listen, sure. This one appears to be nappin'. You just mind your Tinkerer gods and I'll keep to the Quiet Ones."
At Gerrard's suggestion he nods, as though the matter is decided. "Sure, drop her in the ocean. She might like that, though how would we know?" He turns and begins walking toward the tower. He nods when Thwack approaches. "Yeah, I think we do need to go together. After this little powwow you and I are gonna go find Kei."
