The Adventures in Odaigo

"Lets get back to her and see if we can get on the road to Odaigo."

"Sometimes I cannot help myself, friend." Ash replies to Stilgar. 
Still holding a pickle in his hand, Ash takes a bite resulting in an audible CRUNCH sound.
"Good work as usual here too, though...a bit different than usual I believe?" Ash continues, putting his hand on Darrimus's shoulder. 
Receiving the book from Stilgar, Ash flips through the pages then looks at Laurentia. 
"This looks like the right one?" he asks rhetorically, looking for confirmation in her eyes. 
"We should be on our way back before the witches realize what is happening. 
Ash snaps his fingers. 

"THE ARMY OF SOZOS WILL RETURN. KNOW YOUR ENEMY." the illusion shouts, before dissipating. 

Ash stares into the town but does not see any witches running about anymore. They have fled inside and have not exited. However, he is quite satisfied with his display.

Darrimus returns the grasp to Ash.

"That was a neat trick.  Let us make haste before the witches wisen up to what we have done."

Fireside emerges from the wood to join the group.

as they begin their journey back to the witch, stilgar suddenly remembers his desire for darrimus’s crisp and delicious pickles!

”looks like you had quite the crowd selling pickles, might even be time to hang up that shield and change professions!”

Laurentia nods back confirmation to Ash as convincingly as she can.

"With those cute faces, they make quite convincing salesmen. I'm sure a town full of ladies like this was all over them."

Darrimus nods

"When you believe in something like I believe in the taste of those pickles it's easy to convince others.  If only people were as willing to accept Tempus as they were pickles."

The group packs up all their books and heads back towards the town from which they came. They quickly find their way back to the trail they used on the way here.  Traveling for about an hour they reach a bridge that crosses over to the board walk near the town.

Darrimus can you give me a perception check since you are in front.

As Darrimus goes to get onto the boardwalk, he pauses right before the steps. Looking out into the water only 10 feet from him is a giant crocodile ready to ambush him. He quickly alerts the party and they ready before the beast lunges.

Roll initiative please.

"That croc looks hungry!"

Laurentia speaks to the creature as she pulls out her quarterstaff " Dear Crocodile, I understand you are hungry and would love to help you find something to eat, but if you intend to fight us we'll have to kill you."

stillgar licks his lips ready to compliment the pickles with some gator stew!

The crocodile goes to lunge and the group prepares for battle. It is a huge beast.

The combat order is

1 is croc 2 is for Darrimus

The giant crocodile takes a lunge at the Darrimus and tries to bite him:

Attack: 11 Damage: 19

The croc then turns his tail and hits (1) Laurentia with his tail .

Attack: 19 Damage: 15

Both attacks are dodged and as the fight begins!

"Time to cook." 
Ash fires a firebolt at the croc. 

Attack: 21 Damage: 8

As the croc enters the area near Laurentia the air suddenly glows in a steak towards the croc as Laurentia's spores react in defense.

Laurentia uses her reaction to hit the croc as it moves into her circle of spores. 6 Save Con:15 Croc con:2

She quickly utters something intelligible and rubs up and down her quarterstaff. Small glowing roots begin to extend along the staff from her hands.

Laurentia uses her bonus action to cast Shelaleigh

Her eyes glow  for a moment and suddenly, her skin pulses and the surface writhes as if alive. A puff of the glowing spores begins to radiate from her and several gather around her quarterstaff.

She uses her action to awaken the spores infusing.

"You can use Wild Shape to awaken the spores that infuse you to gain +24 temp HP, roll double damage dice for your Halo of Spores damage, and deal 1d6 additional poison damage when you hit with a melee weapon attack. These all last for 10 minutes, or until you lose all these temporary hit points, or until you use your Wild Shape again."

with the crocs attention turned to darrimus, stilgar draws his blade and charges the beast.

Darrimus takes his Longsword and makes two slices at the maw of the beast.

Attack: 20 Damage: 12

Fireside will take the dodge.

Darrimus's first attack misses, but his second attack strikes true, hitting the beast for 11 damage.
Ash sends a firebolt into the crocodile's face, singeing it for 8 damage.
Stilgar attacks but is unable to pierce the crocodile's natural hide.
Laurentia hits the crocodile for 4 damage  with her spores.

The crocodile has taken a total of 23 damage.

The giant crocodile takes a lunge at the Fireside and tries to bite him:

Attack: 20 Damage: 21

The croc then turns his body and attempts to hit  Darrimus with his tail .

Attack: 23 Damage: 11

Fireside's dodge roll: 26

The crocodile bites hard onto Fireside and he must make a Strength Save of 16 or be grappled. (5). Fireside is now grappled in the crocodile's mouth!

Darrimus blocks the crocodile's tail.

Everyone can now post their turns!
