Perception check?

Randy investigates the store to see if there is anything curious or of value.

Kevin: A Perception check to take a general look around the room or a Investigation check if you're looking for something specific.

Randy: Roll a d100 to see which of the trinkets catches your eye. (The same goes for anyone else browsing the purple shelves.)

Sol Rhea: You spot a ornate brooch of dwarven design that has been dyed violet. Xoblob notices your interest and says, "A fine piece, I can let it go for 4 gp."

Randy: A multicolored stone disk catches your eye. It appears to have resisted Xoblob's dying attempts. "That unearthly object is 3 gp," he says while puffing his pipe.

Dewey: You are drawn to the same disk as Randy, but he beats you to it. Instead, you show interest in a simple candle. "Ah, truly a blessed object," you are informed by Xoblob, "That is a magic candle that can not be lit. It cost 4 gp."

Kevin rolls a 97

Kevin: You find a shard of obsidian that always feels warm to the touch. "That will set you back 5 gp."

“Why would I want a candle that can’t be lit?” Dewey asks Xoblob, incredulous. “What else does it do?”

Kevin asks, "It feels warm to the touch.  What properties does this obsidian obtain?"

Dewey: "It's the finishing touch on a nice centerpiece for your dinner table."

Kevin: "No one knows, it's a mystery."

Randy turns away from his item, unimpressed.

Randy turns to Xoblob, "Where is the Skewered Dragon?" Randy asks in his monotone, simultaneously whispering the question directly into Xoblob's mind.

Randy: Xoblob puffs his pipe and exhales purple smoke. "The Skewered Dragon faces an alley that runs between Net Street and Fillet Lane, just around the corner from here." He makes a sour face. "Why would you want to go to that horrible place?"

"What can you tell us about it? Are there any dangers of which we should be aware?" Randy tries to probe Xoblob's mind while waiting for an answer.

Randy: "Well, the only danger I can think of is their watered down ale. But it isn't the most friendly place to outsiders, you might have to buy a few drinks for people to get them to talk to you."

Randy lifts the palm of his hand towards Xoblob, dismissing him completely from his attention. "Let's go," he says in a whisper.

Sol, shakes off her awe at the numerous purple objects and picks up the purple broach.
