You all reconvene and Crag guides you quickly to Candle Lane, the buildings here are tightly packed together. Gloom envelops the narrow alley as dark as a dungeon — and as odorous as one, too. Nearly all the streetlamps have been smashed. The only light that pierces the darkness is a faint flickering from down the lane, like a distant candle.
Directly across from the only lit lamp on the street lies the warehouse with a black winged snake pained on the door eerily illuminated by the flickering light. It is a ramshackle two story warehouse set back in a small yard surrounded by a rather tall fence with a gate set in it.
From the light of Aida's mace you all can make out what appears to be 3 entry points to the warehouse, a front door, a large warehouse loading door, and a painted-over window.

Unfortunately even though the only noise coming from the alley you are in is the slight sounds all of your gear makes as you all shift from foot to foot, you hear nothing coming from the warehouse at this point. Alec, You do recognize that you are still some distance away, and it would be fairly difficult to hear anything from this distance.

Should we continue to make our way closer and investigate?
"Justin, you appear rather nimble and discreet, aside from your weapon there, think you might be able to approach undetected and perform some reconnaissance? "
Crag looks towards Alec with a slight concerned frown.
"I am fully in favor of us investigating, particularly if it roots out crime and injustice; but we are not a group of burglars or thieves. There will be no breaking or entering if that is what you are suggesting. If we have questions or wish to look around, I say we should approach and make ourselves known."
As Justin ispects the door I look over to Alec "I agree with Crag, we are good intentioned and shouldn't be breaking into places. And besides" I move around slowly, metal armor scraping and clinking as it shifts. "I'm not exactly quiet wearing all of this."
"I may not disagree with you, but I am cautious. We have seen what the Zhentarim is capable of and it does not appear like they are afraid to make a spectacle of violence in the streets. My largest concern pertains to the safety of every one of us and I cannot say that waltzing in the front door would be my first, or even second, choice. But alas I will follow suit. How do you fancy we go about coercing our way into this little hovel of theirs? Surely they are not going to allow us to just wander about."
Justin you quietly make your way past the outer fence and sneak up to warehouse. in this lack of light it is not difficult. You reach up carefully and try the door, it is locked.
Justin go ahead and make a perception check.

Justin you slide your thieves tools into locl, it is not an overly complicated lock, and you quickly and quietly shift the tumblers. You hear a gentle click as the lock releases.
Justin you slowly and carefully slide the door open just enough so you can see inside.
Tables and chairs have been carelessly tossed across the floor. The corpses of a dozen men lie along the walls, their rapiers and daggers lying nearby. On the north side of the area, stairs rise to an open level above. You see four small birdlike creatures wearing short robes. They have small black feathers all over their exposed skin, and large bird like feet. The Kenku have not yet noticed you and seen pre-occupied with searching through the many boxes and crates scattered around the room.

As we case the joint, do we see anyone coming and going?
Can we hear any noise coming from within the warehouse?

"What do you say, crew? I, myself, prefer a more sleuth-like entry, but from what I have gathered, you all seem to enjoy a more...forward approach."
