The low lighting of the tunnels makes it difficult to see much. Fortunately, as Jhar manages down the rope ladder, his eyes catches a glint in the dark, and a definite point to the end. He barely has enough time to shout "ambush!" before a bolt zips pass his boot. Archibald and Falcorn instinctively yank the halfling back up and out of the trap. Jhar describes the room below: the tunnel leads directly down into a circular room, ringed with fortified positions made of crates and barrels. He couldn't see just how many kobolds are down there, as the wooden makeshift barriers hide them well, but from the sound of bolts smashing against the tunnel walls, there are many.
"Why would you do that! I could have taken them, especially if you two would have joined me. Now do one of you two fancy magic throwers have a spell to hit a lot at once?"
(Jhar's hope is that Archibald has a big spell. Jhar can get on his back, he can jump down, carry a big spell. Falcorn can be right behind us. You two can do your magic stuff and Jhar can hack and smash.)
"No major spell to hit all of them right now, I'm afraid I'm still a bit inexperienced. However, I could fill the room with fog. This way, any long distance fighters can't see us, and we could hopefully get to the outside of the ring without any trouble, and take them down closer range one by one. Or, first, I could also create an illusion of something like a wizard teleporting to the middle of the area, and see how many try to attack it, to gauge the amount of enemies."
If Falcorn is okay with it, I'd like to use minor illusion to cause a loud draconic shriek. Followed by a use of minor illusion to cause the shape of a large (slightly under 5 foot long) skeletal dragon head to burrow out of the middle of the cave, with the sounds of the earth rumbling. Followed by the dragon shrieking again, and it releasing fog from its mouth. At that point, I'd like to cast fog cloud in the middle of the area to block the view of the enemy, so we can cross the cave and take them out one by one.
"If the fog engulfs the the smallest ones, I will throw some weariness their way and put some to sleep. That should add to the illusion . Easier sneaking that way too, yes?"
I'm afraid Minor Illusion cannot do all that. You can make the sound of a roar, or the sound of the earth trembling, or a still image of a silent dragon skull. Nevertheless, the kobolds do begin to speak in hush tones. If you speak draconic:
"Dead magic! To the second line! Jirrack, you're the oldest!"

"I don't bloody care what we do, let's just do it."

(Cast sleep)
I'm afraid Minor Illusion cannot do all that. You can make the sound of a roar, or the sound of the earth trembling, or a still image of a silent dragon skull.
Nevertheless, the kobolds do begin to speak in hush tones. If you speak draconic:
"Dead magic! To the second line! Jirrack, you're the oldest!"
Roll the hit points on the sleep spell.
Ah, I forgot minor illusion is a still image, though since I'm in the school of illusion, minor illusion can have sound and an image at the same time.
I'd still like to cast fog cloud and cause the sounds. I also do speak draconic.
18 I then sneak through the fog, looking for a boulder or other obstacle to take cover behind.
