"Greetings," says one of the men. "Welcome to Lomalos, and to our little establishment. I judge from your attire that you are from Ellantar, or thereabouts. And your friend appears to be a visitor from the Feywild. I am Reglan Naica, and this is my sister Vianat, her husband Denbasi, my cousin Edlandir, and of course, my charming wife Tinanel. Would you care to join in a friendly game of cards as we speak?" His smile is charming, but there is a sudden, predatory gleam in his eyes.

Quentin shakes his head as he replies, "I'd have to respectfully decline. I've never been good at cards and prefer Dragonchess. Plus I'm waiting to talk to Lady Amryl Naica."
"here is what I know... When the original band of heroes founded Lomalos, Myriil Naica was the party's rogue. After they won and appointed themselves nobility, Myriil built this tavern and spent the rest of her life bartending and raising hell." Raven says in a low voice. "So not only are we talking about a well-connected family, but one that has a reputation as being one of the major criminal organizations of this land."
She glances around, clearly wary of speaking at all. "You wonder why those outside did not wish to enter and confront them themselves, that is the reason." She picks at her food, not really eating as much as pushing it around her plate. "I've heard rumors that every inch of this place is constantly under surveillance by one of the members of the family itself..." She says the last in nearly a whisper.
Mindartis's steak is delicious and perfectly prepared, the stuffing rich and spicy, and the baby greens and fern sprouts crisp, with a light dressing of oil and herbs. The wine is good, but not exceptional.
(Oh, and Elwin's common beer was drinkable, but meh.)
Reglan is disappointed at Quentin's refusal, and shows much less interest in the visitors, returning to his seat. "Edlund has just come from a visit to the city, and apparently, several children have gone missing lately. The mayor is instituting a curfew. Of course, there are always cases of runaways, accidents, even the odd kidnapping or two, but some street urchins have been telling horror stories about someone luring friends away and there's some hysteria among the commoners at present."

Del tries to be equally discrete without being suspicious Well, Sister, which are your father's lands? And what are you hoping to find? I have this feeling - and, mind, this is only because of every story every bard ever told to everyone - we are about to become entangled in the Naicas. Along with the happenings our good Captain mentioned, the satyrs' trouble and this pub's beer issues and the gnolls - I'd be shocked if we did not find our way into all of it. Whatever their lordships are discussing up yonder, it'll end in something we need to investigate. I say "we" - are we a "we" yet? Travel together and battle and making peace - I think we are.

Quentin nods saying, "Well probably good cause too. I mean, just imagine if you suddenly went missing. And there's been disappearances around here as well. So it seems like a cause for concern instead of hemming your outfits."
"My father lives in Rhachluksor." Raven says with a shrug. "I usually spend the summers with him there, and winters back here with my mom in the Free City." She takes a bite of her food as she considers. "My father sent me a letter, which caught me half-way to meet him. In the letter he asked me to return back to my mom's place, something about it being dangerous in the Fens." Glancing towards the stairs up she takes a swig of beer. "I do think we are a we. Do you wish to go and see what is going on up there or let them handle it for now?"
The atmosphere grows a little colder in the room at Quentin's tactless remark. "Really? Who has disappeared around here? Nobody of note, I'll wager, or I would have heard about it." Reglan begins dealing a new hand.
"Except Lemmet," says Edlund, with a snicker.
"Like I said, nobody of note."
"Oh, he'll turn up," says Tinanel. "Like a bad copper."
The girl comes back down the stairs and says, "Lord Quentin, Lady Amryl will see you now."
As you turn away from the table, you hear Edlund say quietly, "Ooh, titles. Are we not formal today, my lord Reglan?" Reglan snorts and mutters, "Foreigners."

"Thank you." Quentin replies with a smile as he gets up to head towards Lady Amryl as he does so using message to speak to Reglan directly in his head, "Your should get new clothes, those won't pass any longer as fashionable. Plus you have several angry fey creatures outside you're front door and be careful who you call a foreigner."
Elwin had listened intently as he finished his meal, being curious about Raven's background. She hadn't been... very expansive or explicit. But it was enough for him to make another mental note before he finally spoke. "I agree, it does seem that we're a crew now, like it or not. So far so good, though."
His glanced toward the stairs as he continued, lowering his voice. "That said, you seem to have more to lose in dealing with the Naicas than the rest of us, Raven, especially being from the area. No hard feelings if you'd prefer to keep your family safe by keeping clear of all this." He smiled. "You'd probably be on your way to getting on the captain's good side, at that."
"Still," he continued, looking more somberly toward both Raven and Del now. "Either way, I'd rather give our lords more time; especially if you still want to check on your father's lands. You're right as rain that dealing with criminals of this sort is dangerous, but I have a feeling the two of them are able to make more than enough noise if things get of control."
Of course, his mind wasn't set in stone. Elwin focused on Del, waiting to see what he thought of the situation.

She stands, saying, "Good afternoon. I am Amryn Naica. How may I be of service?"

She glances around the common area, trying to see if anyone there would perhaps be someone to talk to about the area South and West of here.
In the common area, Raven sees a group of people who look like farm laborers. Listening, she hears them mostly grumbling about the price of the beer, and whether it's safe to carry out their pruning detail with all those satyrs lurking around the vines, and how they ought to tell Amryn they're not going to do it without some sort of protection, or the satyrs being driven off first.
