Elwin's eyebrows raised as he thought. Indeed, hadn't they known the fancier ladies of Slate City to enjoy gloves made of the material?
"I suspect you're right, good Del. This might be profitable just yet." He thought to ask Beezger what he planned to do with the mole, but then he recalled the names Del called out. The missing satyr? Down here?!
He turned and waited, arms crossed (his spear planted beside him) to hear what they all had to say.
"Might want to let the others know we're okay," he suggested in a low voice to the two students, while continuing to watch the newcomers.
Beezger seems a little comforted at Elwin's assurances.
As soon as Elwin and Del call out to the strangers, the elf mutters to the satyrs, "Cover my escape!" and turns and runs. The four satyrs look wildly at each other for a second, then follow, tripping over themselves in their haste to leave.
"I don't know about smart," says Beezger, "but this was my doing and I had to see how it ended."
"And someone from the family needed to see whether the trouble was dealt with," says Teydaar. "What, was that really Lemmet Naica? What's he doing on Simul lands? He's no student." He steps up into the chamber for a moment, and looks around, suddenly turning beet red. "MY POTATOES!" Teydaar bellows. He turns to go back up the tunnel, furious. "Yes, we'll tell your friends. I'm off to fetch the guards. Beezger, you'd better keep an eye on your field till they get here, in case anything else comes up out of it."
The two students leave.
As they emerge from the tunnel, Teydaar calls to Raven, Quentin and Mindartis, "The mole's dead, your friends need you," and runs off. Beezger nervously picks up a pitchfork and stares at his radish field with a haunted expression.

The room is smokey and smells...odd. There is a fire burning, and no chimney. On the fire is a tightly lidded vat. A coiling copper tube leads from the lid of the vat to a rusty bucket nearby, slowly dripping liquid into it. A pile of broken crates is stacked against the wall, apparently for use as firewood. There are also a lot of unbroken crates, some with the lids off, that seem to be filled with empty bottles. One crate is filled with corks. In one corner of the room is a very large pile of potatoes, with an equally large heap of potato peels of varyingly advanced ages moldering away nearby.
There is an open doorway to your right, and another across from the mole hole in the wall.

He just shook his head as he groaned. Well, a few mysteries cleared at once. And a new one added. Elwin silently vowed to personally beat both the satyrs AND the "missing" Lemmet Naica when they got to the bottom of this.
As Raven examined the door, Elwin poked around the makeshift moonshine shop alongside Del, his armor of frost evaporating as he did so. If the door wasn't trapped, they should be able to find where the tunnel it opened to led; then, hopefully the last few answers would appear.
(( Investigation Check to search rather thoroughly: 9 ))
Elwin doesn't find anything further in the moonshinery.
Raven moves into a large room, its walls lined with piles of sealed crates, and examines it with sharp and thorough eyes. In the center of the room is a makeshift desk made of more piled crates. A nearly full bottle of ink, two bars of sealing wax, a signet ring, a still-burning candle, and a pile of fresh parchment sit on the desk. There is also a rumpled stack of what look like receipts, a pot of glue, and a pile of labels. On top of the parchment lies a partially written letter, stained with wet ink from a quill that was dropped on it. It seems that the letter writer was interrupted...perhaps by the sound of a large mole crashing into his hideout. The wooden floor shows scratch marks, as if the desk tends to be moved regularly...probably to cover the splintery hole in the floor, which is now uncovered. A shred of torn cloth is caught on a large splinter there, and the bottom of the hole and the floor around it have a scattering of coins...it looks as if a sack of loot was hastily pulled out of the hole, snagged on a splinter, and tore, losing some of its contents.
Raven also notices that the room looks quite old--the roof beams are dark with age, half rotten with moisture, covered by moss and sprouting patches of wood fungus. Whatever this place is, it looks like it's been here for a long time, and has been unoccupied until fairly recently.
There is another exit to this room, a narrow, twisting corridor.
((Oh, you said you were examining the door. There is no door, just doorways....with no doors.))

(Sounds good, examine room instead of door is fine...)
"Seems like they left in a hurry." Raven comments, kneeling down and looking at the hole in the floor closer, collecting anything she finds there for spilled loot. She then moves to the desk and goes through the papers and letter, trying to get an idea of what they are. "Anyone check that other room yet?" She calls to the others, nodding in the direction of the side room back in the moonshine room.
No. Absolutely not. The arrangement for pickup of the merchandise cannot be changed. I have nobody here I can trust to deliver the product to your warehouse. As for your suggestion of a 'surcharge' for the pick-up, I regret to say that the loss of profit makes it unacceptable. Here is an alternative suggestion. If you are unable to send drivers to receive my merchandise, I will be forced to deal with some other merchant company. It has come to my attention that, although some shipping companies have suffered major losses from gnoll raids, and some have suffered minor losses, only your caravans have never been hit by gnolls. Not even once. Why is that, do you suppose? If I must pay someone to carry and sell my goods, I will make sure to point out your apparent immunity to gnoll harassment, so that they can study your methods carefully and emulate them, the better to secure the safe arrival of my merchandise to you. I am sure they will be most interested. I am quite certain that certain OTHER parties will share that--

If we investigate here we probably won't make the evening coach - which is fine, we had though earlier we'd stay the night and continue on in the morning anyway. Maybe we can build some good will with the Simuls. But I bet those four moonshiners are beyond reach by now. Not as interesting a mystery as I thought. I wonder if the other Naica's know about Lemmet's side gig - are we looking at a Simul-Naica feud or a Lemmet's in trouble situation.

Raven will split the coin evenly. Everyone gets 12 gp, 7 sp, and 7 cp. 3 people get an extra GP, while two get an extra SP. She will just keep the extra CP, since i doubt if anyone cares about it.
