In time, three elves and two gnomes in uniform run into the alley as the elf on the rooftop suddenly dissolves into silvery mist and appears on the ground among you.
"False alarm," she tells the newly arrived cops. "Constable Rosewing was confused by some amateur detectives attempting to set a trap for the kidnaper."
The sprite winces and says, "Sorry, Lieutenant Hooleran."
"Not your fault," the officer says, turning her glare onto Quentin, Mindartis and Del. "I appreciate your community spirit and desire to help, but police work should be left to professionals. It would be best if you restricted your activities to keeping a vigilant eye on your own neighborhoods and--" She stops suddenly, as if listening to a message you can't hear, then says, "I'm on my way."
Turning another glare on you, Lieutenant Hooleran says, "While patrolling officers wasted their time on you, a child has gone missing near Eastoak. I can't spare the men to have you escorted home, but I suggest you go there. NOW." She transforms into an owl again and takes off, followed by the sprites. The elves and gnomes on foot give you a dirty look as they turn around and run back the way they came from.
In a few moments, the alley is quiet again.
(It is still quite early, this happened in your first hour on stakeout. What do you want to do?)

"Ignore the police and try again." Quentin replies simply before adding, "She's going to blame us but truth be told she was looking out in the exact same place and if she was to use her brain she'd understand that stopping the assailant will save one because they'll more than likely never talk. But following the assailant and she'll save 32."
It was a fine idea, except for bad luck, but I don't think it will ever work now, the cops have spoiled it. But someone is moving from Eastoak towards their lair. Instead of the cop's approach of rushing where the Candyman was - can we try to intercept to find where he's going?

"Or else we try this again, but only allowing those who are actually good at keeping out of sight doing the steak out..." Raven says as she comes out of hiding. "Maybe just have the rest of you do something a block or so away?"
"I'm fine with trying this again," added Elwin, also stepping out of hiding. "We could try to intercept, but we only know where the child was, not where he was going, or even what direction he went. And if an abduction just occurred elsewhere, then chances are, the Candyman didn't have eyes here yet."
Well, Siblings Edwin and Raven make good points, the todo off at Eastoak might be enough distraction. And it isn't being bad at stealth per se, but the more there are the harder stealth is. I guess I will sit as bait a bit longer, and Lords Quentin and Mindartis go as far away as you can. Can Owl Henry know to fly back and alert you if anything moves?
((I think our luck is cast the rest of the night? Can we try a bit longer?))
