The last shot sinks deep into the eye, and as you inhaled to released a loud vocal cheer, the star gem in the center of the cube exploded in a brilliant detonation of arcane energy. There was no warning for such an event, and it snowballed into another gut wrenching situation that required all of our efforts just to stay alive.
The explosion sent a massive shockwave everywhere and collided with the skiff. We attempted to hold on for dear life.
DC10 DEX saves all around please. If you fail, you hit the bulkhead, hard, taking 23 damage.
"The walls!!" cried Emma in warning.
Anyone who IS able to hold on can then participate in getting the skiff under control so it doesn't hit the walls.
DC10 DEX and DC10 Arcana CHECKS from someone to work the controls in this moment of panic. (Help can be received if you passed the DEX save above) Both need to be passed not to slam into the walls, which would surely cause massive damage, or worse.
"Whewww.."Misha sighed, relieved. "THAT could hef gone a lot worse.."
"Great job everyone!" Emma said. "That was close."
When she saw that everyone was ok, Misha stared at the messy pile of ash that was once her shield, and some of her armor. The bits of armor that remained looked brittle and broken. It looked strange on her, like she was only half dressed. It failed to retract back into her spine attachment.
"To an Acheronian, there is nothing more sacred than a Prime's hammer and shield...after Honor and Glory, of course." she said sadly. "My hammer and shield were created well before I was, and hef been a part of my life seense I was a child."She smiled softly, remembering, as a child, how difficult it was just to wield them. "Lately, so many theeng hef been..taken away from me."
"Come." Emma said, putting her hand on her bare shoulder. "Let me look at you, help you remove..what's left of your armor."
Misha laid on the surgical table face down. Emma used some hand tools and the med scanner to work on Misha's spine brace and did her best to remove the damaged plates from the brace. "Well, they won't retract anymore, that's for sure, but the plates can be removed. Such interesting design - like it, wraps around you. Did you have the brace surgically installed, or were you born like this?"
"I hed eet surgically installed."Misha said quietly.
"Well," Emma continued, pulling on the damaged plates and using her other hand to disinfect the area where flesh met metal, "Quite a feat of cybernetics I might say, from this time and age. Although, if you want to see something truly amazing, my people evolved away from a physical form before this galaxy was even formed! Can you imagine?"
Misha didn't say anything. Emma continued to tug and pull and detach the broken fragments from the brace, until eventually there was nothing left but the long metal spinal column that housed the armor as it folded in on itself.
"Would you like me to remove the spinal encasement?" Emma asked leaning over to see Misha's face, but couldn't - she was looking the other way. "It won't hurt, I noticed your pain suppression algorithm has kicked in during my procedure."
"Yes."Misha said, not bothering to correct her: it wasn't an algorithm, but a genetic feature. Emma continued.
"I was programmed as a maintenance algorithm, I am designed to assist in many forms of communication and skills. While my creators designed me to observe and record, I also picked up a few things along the way travelling from world to world, reality to reality. My creators lost the capacity to procreate naturally so very long ago, but had mastered the art of synthetics as our physical world became something else."
Emma continued to talk as she worked, but didn't notice a teardrop that fell to the floor from Misha's face.
We set course for the next cube. When we entered it, the air was as warm as a spring day. A gentle breeze carried the pungent odor of rotting fish. The cavern was a perfect cube - we guessed it to be over two miles on each side. The side of them cube that we entered contained a small village surrounded by pools of brown med. The four adjacent faces appeared to be nothing more than immense shimmering mirrors. A sense jungle fills sixth face. A massive crystal decahedron floated in the center of the room.
FACE ONE: The Village FACE TWO THRU FIVE: Crystal Dams FACE SIX: Ceiling Forest
Once Emma has finished patching up Misha, Jill unstraps the shield from her arm and hands it to her. "You have done so much for us, taking the eye-beams head-on. At the very least, I can give you this so that you will have some form of protection. I know that your old shield was very dear to you and I hope that in time, this can have a place in your heart as well."

Misha kisses Jill on the forehead, taking the shield. "I weel cherish eet the same way that I cherish you." She then found some spare plate armor that would suffice until she returned home.
A cluster of crude, brown buildings fills an area in the center of The Village cube face. It's about 1 and 1 half miles in diameter. Hundreds of grey-skinned humanoids wearing red clothing mill about the village. A forest of red and silver vegetation surrounds the area.
A race of pale gray humanoids, both male and female, appear to be living here. Dozens of brown buildings stand arranged in clusters across a barren plain of brown dirt. Most of the buildings are square, but a few have domes, and others look like crude log cabins. The buildings are mostly featureless except for circular openings that serve as doors and windows. The humanoids shuffle along like zombies performing mundane tasks, and when the skiff descends and Captain Sana speaks, they scream and flee in terror - all of them.
Ouef these attack rolls.
