Shadow is taken aback by the whole scene, he has spent the majority of his life in the monastery, so this is quite a culture shock for him. He is trying to observe everything around him but his eyes keep darting around the room as he notices new things happening. He then notices the half-elven woman in the corner and tries to get a closer look. All of a sudden a halfing man jumps down and beckons him to a chair. "Yes, maybe I can get myself a drink."He makes his way to the chair and takes a seat.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flame steps into the tavern and is overwhelmed by the activity inside. Monastery life was much...calmer. He couldn't focus on anything because he had to focus on everything. A half-elf woman caught his eye for a moment, but then a halfling man called his group over, so he followed to the table, mostly because he wasn't sure what else to do.
The giddy halfling stops jumping up and down, but his jovial demeanor is still evident on his face. Right as Marion is about to speak, the halfling practically screams with excitement "YAY! VIS'TORS!" Immediately all heads turn to you, the patrons suddenly stop what they're doing as the silence is only broking by the smashing of a fallen glass mug. Nevertheless, people seem to not care as they turn back to their "important business" The effervescent halfling then continues very quickly: "Wowwehaven'thadanyofyousurfacedwellersinsometime. (BREATH) WhatcanIdoyoufor, wehavethefinestselectionofdrinksinalloftheDownshadow! (BREATH)" As he says that it takes a bit for your mind to process, but you recall not seeing any other tavern. As he hears Marion he continues in his rapid-fire tone: "OhIzzyyousay, wellshe'sjustoverthere!" The halfling then points to the table with the tinkering gnome.
Shadow:
You deduce that it wouldn't make any sense for their to be dye that seems to be on the surface of the cloth instead of actually set in. Therefore it makes it very unlikely that this is dye, so then it would have to be something else... Something then clicks for you. It's blood (bc cliches are cliche)!
Flame:
You notice two, almost hidden by cloth, notches on the pale robed woman's neck...
As the heads of the patrons turn towards them, Marion's face flushes. The feeling of weakness and vulnerability makes her freeze in place and she doesn't manage to say a word.
Torment smiles politely at the halfling. "My, aren't you exciting! I'll have a water, no ice. Lemon on the side, please."
Then, turning her attention to the others, "She caught my eye as we walked in. I do wonder what's in that box. What did we need to ask her for, again? A key of some sort?"
Shadow gasps as he realizes that this lady has blood all over her. He ignores the halfling and quickly makes his way over to the woman. "Excuse me ma'am, are you okay?"
Elemoth nods in greeting to the frenetic halfling tavernkeeper, and lifts a finger and opens his mouth to speak, but pauses when the halfling continues speaking and puts his hand down and waits a moment. When there seems to be a pause, Elemoth inhales and lifts his hand and finger again, but is forced to stop once more as the halfling continues. The cleric then just lowers his hand and hangs his head slightly, lets the halfling finish, then nods twice politely and then turns to Torment.
"I believe that Ruby said we needed a Glyph Key or something? I'm not entirely certain what that is or does, but hopefully Izzy will be able to explain that to us, and provide it for a not too high price." Elemoth says, gesturing towards the Gnome with the box. "So, shall we approach?" he asks, turning his head briefly to check to see what everyone else is doing before starting to slowly make his way over to the Gnome. He subconsciously drops a hand to his coin pouch to make sure everything's there, and hopes that the party will chip in if needed if Izzy decides to ask for gold.
Shadow gasps as he realizes that this lady has blood all over her. He ignores the halfling and quickly makes his way over to the woman. "Excuse me ma'am, are you okay?"
Flame watches in horror as his brother walks toward the pale woman covered in blood. He rushes over to him and grabs his arm to lead him away as quickly as possible. "Hey buddy, let's leave the nice woman alone."
Once they are out of earshot of the woman, he whispers frantically to Shadow. "That woman is a vampire. You have to be more careful down here."

"Thanks Flame, all I saw was the copius amounts of blood and I wanted to help. I will be more wary while we are down here." He nods to Flame and goes back to hear what the halfling has to say.

"I'll go with you. I want to see what's up with that box. Just as soon as I wet my throat a little..." says Torment, being slightly impatient for her water.
As Torment offers her request the jubilant halfling dashes off and immediately fills up the glass precisely to your order at breakneck speed, proceeding to slide the glass of water across the bar towards you (subsequently followed by a lemon wedge on a napkin). Shadow then heads over towards the robed woman, right as he's bending down to help her he hears her muttering over and over again: "Gulthias... Gulthias... Gulthias..." Then as Shadow speaks the pale woman immediately stops and begins to ask him imploringly: "Gulhias! Is that you! Have you returned to me?" However, Flame at that moment grabs Shadow and pulls him away, as the woman begins looking around with a very sad and confused expression as if something suddenly vanished from her gaze (Flame & Shadow please give me a history check).
After Torment's drink, her and Elemoth head off towards this Izzy person. As they approach her, they hear her thinking out loud: "Now, if I use the weave to draw in some of the necromantic energy here, but wait... that would upset the transmutational balance of the animation. No that won't work, how did they manage to do this? No matter Isabelle... you can do it. I mean, it's not like the world-" Her head immediately snaps towards you as she quickly maneuvers herself so she's in the way between you and the strange box and speaks in a cheery voice: "Why hello there surfacers! Can I help you? Have a magic item you'd like for me to identify? Some arcane tome you need for me to decipher? A gem you'd like for me to appraise? No query is out of my reach!" She then offers a wide beaming smile to the both of you.
As Marion is adjusting to the strangeness of the tavern she hears a *clomp* as the half-orc from earlier plops herself on the stool adjacent and gruffly calls out to the halfling barkeep: "'Ey! Barkeep! Gimme 'nother round o' Blackbriar Ale." She then turns towards you, sticks out a hand to grab the sliding mug and takes a big gulp from it. After drinking she slams it down onto the table. "So. What you doin' 'round here Surfacer..."
OOC: I know I shouldn't, but I'm starting up a Tomb of Annihilation campaign. I'm not going to remove any of the time I spend on this campaign or the Arcel's to contribute to this, but I just wanted to inform all of you to see if any of you were interested.
Marion seems to shrink as the half-orc sits next to her. "I... ah, we are looking for a key. A glyph key that is." She gulps and twiddles with her fingers, while avoiding the gaze of the towering woman. Gods, she could break me in two and I couldn't stop her... Probably everyone here could easily kill me. Clearing her throat, Marion takes all her courage and looks the woman in the eye. "We're looking to find answers in the Sunless Citadel pertaining to the attack on Waterdeep."
(OOC: It's cool, I totally understand about wanting to run more than one game. I considered it myself until I did the mental math of how long it takes me to just do what I'm doing now, and realized it just wasn't possible for me to run 2 games and roleplay 1-2 characters in other games too. I just hope that you take it easy and don't overwork yourself. I'd forgotten how much work DM-ing was after years of not doing it.)
Elemoth looks down at the gnome as she speaks, and folds his hands in front of him and replies as she finishes. "Hello, are you 'Izzy'?" he asks, nodding in acknowledgement as the gnomes gives him and Torment a smile. "My name is Elemoth Dyrannel, and my companions and I were told that you knew of something called a 'Glyph Key' that could help us access a place called the Shaded Citadel. I would be quite delighted if you could be of assistance in finding more about this key and the citadel if you would." he explains, bringing a hand to his chest as he speaks.
Torment's ears perk up at the mention of identifying and appraising stones. She reaches in to her pocket to produce a sapphire, and holds it out to Izzy.
"While we're talking about glyphs and keys... what can you tell me about mysterious gems handed to you by random strangers?"
Not recognizing the name the lady was saying, Shadow decides to make his way back to the bar "Excuse me sir, can I get an ale? You would not believe the week I've had!" He let's out a small laugh and takes a seat at the bar.
Flame sits at the bar next to Shadow and looks at him with amazement. "One ale. ONE. No more. We need to all be clear of mind down here. We have no idea what we're getting into. Speaking of, we should probably get back with the group once we get your drink."
To Elemoth and Torment: The gnome strokes her chin for a moment... "Glyph Keys you say. Why indeed, I can show you how to operate them. They work as small contained abjuration and conjuration gems. They temporarily disable wards of teleportation while the conjuration aspect opens a portal that allows for you to walk through to the location that your glyph key is attuned to when touched to a black gate. Each key can hold multiple attunements, but be warned combining them should only be done by one skilled in the knowledge of the arcane. They also have the ability to dispel white gates to allow for you to walk through them. Originally constructed by the Thayans, some Harper spies managed to capture the designs and yours truly helped recreate them in a more effective manner... although now that I think about it I shouldn't be saying that to just anyone. Anyway, there's a black gate right on the edge of town so you should be able to head there and activate your glyph key to travel to this shaded place." As Torment speaks the gnome stares at the gem and zooms in closely with her strange goggles only to speak again while still staring at the gem. "Well dearie, it's not very dense so it's not worth too much. No magical properties if you're wondering either. All in all I think you've been cheated for a gem exchange... how much did the exchanger ask ya' for?" She asks with a look of pity.
To Marion: The half-orc laughs: "A key? Hah! Where ya' gonna' find a key in this dump. N' as fer that attack, don't concern yerself with things like that. Ya' gotta deal with the present! Hah! Yer quite tha' joker, surfacer." The half-orc then proceeds to grab Marions hand and practically crush it as she shakes it heartily. "Name's Shakla, once a member of the Stone Tooth clan but I don't need them no more. What's yer's surface joker?" Then suddenly she calls over to the barkeep: "Another one! And make it snappy or I'll crush your head with my pinky... HAHAHAHA" The happy barkeep also laughs along when suddenly Shakla sees that he's not getting her drink and he immediately shuts up and slides one down to her at a breakneck speed.
To Shadow and Flame: The barkeep gladly fills up an ale for Shadow and brings him one, then slips him a second... and a third... while stealing away the empty mugs when Flame isn't looking (at the behest of a certain catfolk) so it still looks like he hasn't finished (this is just a joke of course, feel free to completely ignore this at your preference).
"Wow! What is thisss fantastic drink? I'vve only had one an' I feel amaaazing!"Shadow raises his glass trying to inspect it closer. "Brother, you must taste some, It is sooo good!" Shadow has a huge smile on his face while he puts the glass in Flame's face.
