MistBusters - A Curse of Strahd PbP

Adanmar nods at Elwarith and grins at Bry "See Grim? We are ready, and that shadow dancer its already gone, damn"

So, the MistBusters ascend another 100 feet. Adanmar and Elwarith slip out of sight, best that they can. However, as Adanmar is observing the surroundings, he notices two things. The first is just the edge of what looks like a large wicker statue. You cannot make out it’s form, but it seems to stand at the top of the hill. The second, is that Strahd has vanished again. The focused heat that points him out to you has died off once more.

Adanmar approaches the statue, keeping distance and alertness.....((Perception: 14))

As Adanmar sneaks up the hill, he gains a better view of what lies at the top. At the peak of the hill is an enormous wicker man formed in the image of Strahd von Zarovich, one that you know well, with a deep green light emitting from it. Furthermore, dark, blackened roots are entangled all throughout the wicker effigy. It seems that the Gulthias Tree supports this construction. In the cloudy morning sky above you, a dark shadow seems to be racing toward you at an intense speed.

OOC: Bry has hung back just a bit, letting those who are stealthy get a better view.

((Noted, you too see this shadow.))

Bry see's the shadow racing towards them and quickly looks around for something to use as cover.

OOC: Is it flying?

It is flying, it’s a blurred silhouette coming down above you. Stealth check to find cover.

Coming down the hill towards us?  I'll shoot it with an arrow....that I infuse with illusion magic to make it a shadow arrow...

[Psychic damage: 8] and it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 11 I think) or be unable to see anything farther than 5 feet away until the start of my next turn.

It’s actually coming down the sky toward you, like divebombing. However, that still hits, Wisdom Save: 20. A hellish whinny echoes across the hills as the shape blinks out of existence. It was there, now it isn’t.

"Hmm....what the hell was that?"

Stealth: 21 still going to find cover in case it comes back.

"I don't know, but I don't think I want to find out"

"If it comes back - it's gonna be pretty pissed off....."

"Fair enough, you did shoot it in the face with an arrow" Bry said through a slight chuckle

"I assure you, he is.” A voice calls out from atop the hill. Turning your gaze to the source, you see a flaming horse standing in the air above the effigy. The rider sits atop the creature, clad in regal black robes.  He has pale skin, yet his eyes burn with subtle hatred. He looks upon you all with disdain. Strahd von Zarovich rides before you. “MistBusters... Good morning” He says with a sneer, as if disgusted by your very existence.

Elwarith waves at him....

(( I was going to make up a fake sounding name to call him like Scrod Bon Jovi-vich - but then I realized I wasn't playing my carefree Tabaxi monk who would ))

Flashbacks begin happening of the last time the group came upon Strahn, Bry cast a glance towards Adanmar who had payed the ultimate price. "Good Morning Strahd, what brings you to this neck of the woods?"
