Seeing Gramult’s hand extended towards me I reach out to grab it. “Thanks for the lesson in humility” I say with a wiry grin wincing a bit as I’m back on my feet.
“I came here looking for a job.” I explain. “Met a fellow named Silas over in Sow’s Foot and he informed me you were the person to speak to for mercenary work.” I pause to judge any reaction to the mention of Silas.

Then continue “Got anything for me?” I then take stock of the injuries sustained from the sparring match while waiting for their answer.
"He's a blabbart, but he's also right. I got some contacts with some of the crews. Patriars are often looken fer security in these parts. I wanna train new recruits first though, got a name an' reputation to defend, you understand." They seem to know who you're talking about and immediately acknowledged them. When saying that Gramult first wants to train you, they appear sincere, and after the skills displayed, you're halfway convinced you could use some teaching.
Your cheek still smarts, and the blow to the small of your kidneys still hurts like hell, but you're determined not to show weakness before Gramult.

Gathering my composure even further, I begin to feel, mostly, normal. Looking to Gramult I say, “I’m willing to do some training. Worst case scenario, I only land a second blow next time. ... I’m assuming the weapons were near me and I picked them up after standing. And I’m taking the dodge action in preparation for another series of blows. I would also like to have the insight roll to read the reaction of the room to ‘egging gramult back into another round’
The crowd chuckles, but Gramult gives you a respectful bow, and drops into their fighting stance. "Why don't you try to hit me first, this time?" You can tell that Gramult has most of their weight on the back leg, ready to kick you should you get to close, or use the staff in an uppercut swing, as before.

Gramult is ready for an attack and is getting ready to parry the thrown dagger, but is surprised by your ferocious assault. In short succession they are struck in the right shoulder by your thrown dagger, and as you swing your short sword at their leg, you land a solid hit square on the thigh. Gramult remains standing, but you can tell that the blow hurt, and that they are limping now.
"Solid hit, but foolish to throw your weapon away." With that, they grab the dagger and throw it off to the side, before jabbing their staff right between Shades' eyes. Stunned, you stagger several steps back, but Gramult quickly closes the distance and brings the staff down on your brow. As the blow connects, you can feel the skin cutting open. The third strike, you don't see coming, and it catches you to the side of the neck, leaving you gasping for air on the ground for a second time.

Glancing behind me I notice the weapon rack with the other dagger still on it. I figure that would be all I have time for in one round and there’s 10-15 feet between us in my imagination. If I can get in a couple more hits I would try so, but after making sure he’s acknowledged we’re still fighting and ready.

Terin too takes up his first wages and proceeds to follow Neris out. He keeps his eyes straight ahead and moves with a practiced confidence. Once outside he walks with the halfling woman a ways and veers toward a secluded part of the area, maybe under a tree or by a statue, in which he stops and turns a steely look on Neris.
