I shall make a distraction to draw attention away from the river tomorrow at dusk.” Shades looks around to see if anyone would have been eavesdropping on this conversation. And then looks at Magnus to see if he might have anything worth pick pocketing on him.

+ 5 to both rolls. Wasn’t sure if you would want separate rolls or not. I’ll leave the results to your discretion dm.
Nobody seems to have paid you or the drunken dwarf any mind, their focuses being drawn by the cattle wranglers and the watchmen. After a passing glance, Magnus seems to have little of value on him, with the exception of a total of five golden earrings, and a small and light coin purse hanging off his hip.

Lia starts looking through the file system, trying to find anything that would be related to their current missions or anything that might be related to the hospital supplies they need to find.
Going through the files is going to likely take Sparks a couple of hours, and likely into the next day.
Shades, give me a sleight of hand check if you want to pick Magnus’ pockets, before leaving to prepare for the next evening.
Harper, anything in particular you are trying to find out or do? Or are you primarily looking to get your job applications in?
Doc, do you wanna find out anything in particular from your patient? Anything you plan to do after work?
Uncle, apart from your investigations, do you want to do anything else with your day?
Once I have responses from everyone, we’ll go on to the next day. Don’t forget, you can ask each other for help if you need something.

Lia is just doing a quick scan for now. She would try to see if there is any sort of categorization of the filing system and see if she can scan to find anything related to their current mission. She would not be reading through the entire thing at this point.
OK... bad news on that front. The "archive" is basically just a cabinet full of files and clippings, with no discernible order, hundreds of loose notes, and plenty of documents that have been so heavily redacted that the sense of the notes is almost impossible to discern.

Terin has a set schedule, he needs to be back in the vicinity for sundown but would really like to apply for the art curator position. Although never having dealt with art in a professional capacity, the many various jobs for patriars has had him encounter such fine appreciation.
If there is time he would head to the Caldwell estate.
Uncle will spend what is left of his day trying to sell potatoes to workers around where the Emerald Empress is docked. He takes no risks to get additional information, but does engage anyone willing is polite conversation. He is looking for close sewer access or anything else else useful.
“Magnus, I don’t mean to be rude, but I’ve gotten through life not taking people solely at their word. Would you give me something of value so that I know you’ll return to me with payment?” Shades asks gesturing slightly towards his earrings.
Julian gets to setting the leg in a splint and bandages it as if it had wounds associated with a milling accident. "Right, well a shame to have to share your business a bit for now. Try not to walk on this for a few days and after that only with a crutch or cane. Come back in a week or so to see that it's setting properly or we'll have to re-break it!"
The Doc helps the miller out and starts to close up shop for the evening. "Eastway you said?"He calls after the man for confirmation as he leaves.
Lia is a bit disappointed in the filing system, as well as the amount of blacked-out text, but hopes there might be something worthwhile, but nothing to be found quickly. She does a start at organizing it that evening, before heading home.
Harper, you make your way to the Caldwell estate, only for you to be told by the butler to return in two days time around tea time, as his master had scheduled that slot to receive applicants. The trip is not a total bust however, as you can almost immediately determine that the Caldwell's are doing well and are little affected by the current political situation, thinking most of their wealth safe outside of Borogrod. Having been able to cast a look into the mansion past the butler however, you do notice two light areas on the wall, were large frames had been hanging a short while ago.
Uncle, you gather little additional information, but are told that the Empress wasn't brought into the main Harbour, instead docking at the Flotilla. Not actually attached to the shore, the chaotic Flotilla is the city’s cheapest long-term moorage option, where boats are welcome to raft together around common anchor buoys, and where some houseboats haven’t moved in generations. The sailors had been given their shore leave, and only a handful of crew remained on the ship. You realise pretty quickly, that there wouldn't be any sewer access, given the importance of the harbour and the implications of fouling the waters. As evening approaches though, you notice a thick fog roll out across the harbour, something you had known about before. What you did not know however, is that the harbour is dimly illuminated with lanterns tied to swimming boys, all the way out to the Flotilla, where you can just about make out the shimmering lights of the multitude of ships moored to each other. Interestingly enough, you can't make out any of the fishing boats from Bramton, Rivington, or Twin Songs, all swallowed by the fog.
Shades, the dwarf quickly looks at you, as if insulted by the suggestion, before handing you one of the rings. You reckon it to be worth about five shiners. "Hope tha's 'nuff for ya. See ya tomorrow ev'nin' then." And with that, the dwarf heads off.
Doc, the patient nods along at your recommendation, and after your question adds, enigmatically: "Tell the Miller I sent ya. They are likely to give you the best wares and prices." He adds a wink, before turning to hobble away, towards the eastern end of the city.
Sparks, you start to order the reports into piles based on City district, to get a rough idea of the main focus of the investigations so far carried out. After sorting for about two hours, you can already tell that a full third concern Eastway, about a quarter happened in Brampton, a sixth in Heapside and the remaining quarter about evenly between the other city districts making up the lower city. As far as the upper city is concerned, you find barely any legible reports, and most feature members of patriar families, with one exception: the archive seems to contain at least half a dozen stories on Thalamare Vanthampur. Giving them some more focus, you find mostly allegations and rumours about political maneuvres and an impressive track record of a ruthless politician seemingly willing to do almost anything to lift her family out from the gutter. She was one of the only Dukes still in power after occupation, since the continued functioning of the city's sewers and sanitation systems was important for the city, but not deemed of strategic interest for the Imperial Army or the Flaming Fist.
After a busy day of investiagations, you all head home to think about what you've learnt and what it all means for your own operations. Unless anyone has particular wishes, we'll cut to the next day. Similarly to before, you can let me know what you want to achieve, or you can try to get in contact with someone else from the group. You're also free to go about your daily business and "laying low", much like Uncle has done.

“My apologies. I didn’t mean to cause any trouble. I was merely interested in his story.” Shades pauses for a minute to look around the tavern to see if the rest of his pie is still were he had been sitting. “I heard you say that he had a tab. I would like to pay some of it, if that’s quite fine with you. Also, I can’t remember if I paid for my pie earlier. If I haven’t I would like to cover that as well.” Shades says rather cheerily looking at the barkeep.
After the enlightening stop off at the Caldwell manor Terin woul dmake haste back to the Grayharbour. He was to meet Marik after sundown to be shown to his inquired warehouse.
The barkeep harumphs, and then opens his palm: "The lout owes me some twenty guilder give or take. If ye wanna pay fer 'im, that's yer business. Jus' be warned, Magnus always seems broke, but has so far always been able to pay on time, even when no ships were leaving the Harbour... I'd be careful around that one, is all."

Harper, as the sun sets, you change into some of your evening wear, to play the part of the patriar more effectively. Over the top of everything, you throw a dark and simple woolen cloak, as would be expected to be worn by someone out on a cold autumn night. Making your way to the Grayharbour is easy, as the streets are largely deserted, since many of the tradesmen and merchants that clog up the streets during the day had to leave the city before nightfall and the curfew. patriars were not affected by the curfew within the Upper City, but within the lower city it would be unusual to find patriars. If he could convince the watch that he had legitimate business in the Harbour after hours though, they might well make an exception. The only real danger were the Fist, since they had been brought from outside Borogrod and didn't grow up with the respect, fear, and envy towards the patriars that was common to the usually lower city- born members of the Watch.
Making your way to the Harbour, you see that much of the bustling activity of the early afternoon has died down now, but the two officials still sat at their post, and upon seeing you approach, they both get up and Marik greets you: "Good evening, ah, how I admire punctuality. We're just about done here, and once we've wrapped up, we can immediately get to your business."

Terin does his best to flit through the dangerous area and is glad to arrive without incident. He nods in thanks to Marik. "I am happy to wait though your expediency is appreciated."
While they finish up Terin keeps a sharp lookout to his surroundings and especially the two men to ensure he is safe.
You notice that a group of five Watchmen approach you and the two officials. Getting initially nervous that they were here to arrest you, as the two officials had figured out that you were bluffing your way to their warehouses, you relax as Marik lets you know that they are there to escort you to the warehouses, and briefing them to let you see to the "special shipment" that arrived yesterday.
Content to continue playing your role, you follow along as the Watch is heading away from the Harbour, towards the general direction of the Citadel streets. Just short of the walls, they turn left into a narrow alley. You become nervous again, thinking that you were in fact set up, as the alley is a dead end and you're stuck there alone with five guards. Doing your utmost to remain calm however, you are then witness to the watch knocking on the door of a tavern, and another watchmen opening a small door to the alley. Stepping inside, you find yourself in a large cellar complex, filled to the brim with crates, casks, and racks filled with bottles. The Watchman on the premises approaches you, and guides you towards the rear section of the cellar, towards a half-opened crate. As you approach, you spot several bottles packed in with straw. Looking at the rack behind the crates, you determine that the bottles were fortified Garronian wines and brandies. You're disrupted by the watchmen asking "What exactly would Sir like to inspect?"
