The great adventurer, Atlas Darrk, scaled the never before climbed Frostbite Peak. When he got back he told of a gigantic treasure hoard at the top! When asked why he left it their he said, "Because the real treasure where the friends I made along the way!" So now the king has set up an official race to see who can be the first to cross the Frigid Sea, navigate the Snowfall Woods, climb Frostbite Peak, and claim the treasure! This would be a campaign for 4 to 5 players and it would be about how your team treats the other competitors and the consequences your actions have. I've DM some IRL games in the past and a play-by-post Pathfinder game but am new to this site and sort of new to D&D! PM me for details or if enough people want, I can post details here.
I'd be down. A Tabaxi Great Old One Warlock. Pact of the Tome, Far Traveler. Has been compelled to search for something since birth. He believes he's met the Cat God as his patron and is recently compelled to scale Frostbite Peak.
I am down! Here is a character I have setup at level 3 - Matilda Level 3 Ghostwise Halfling Druid. Currently a Ghostwise Halfing (WGtE) because they work well with circle of the moon due to telepathic communication while in wild shape. I can see where this would be powerful so I can change the character if needed.

This is obviously a homebrew campaign that will be a bit oneshot-ish in nature. (Unless y'all want to continue of course)
We could start with 3 people if you want but I'll just need your stats Humble, and the back stories of all of your characters. I believe strongly in players helping to build the world so pretty much anything goes. Your not necessarily heroic adventurers (if you don't want to be) so go a bit crazy! Lastly you guys get to decide if you know each other or just joined up for the race! I'm happy to answer any questions about the setting or other things!
The king of the nation of Azairia has gone nearly bankrupt funding his war with the southern nations. When word got around that profound explorer Atlas Darrk found a unimaginable treasure at the tip of Frostbite Peak! The king was just going to claim it for himself but at the advice of his advisor and a fear of an up roar the king decided to host a grand competition!
Frostbite Peak is located on the most northern part of Azairia, a small island in the Frigid Sea called Glace. The lonely mountain stands in the middle of the island surrounded by the mysterious Snowfall Woods.
The race will begin on the mainland, on the small town of Coalburn. From their contestants will have to cross the Frigid Sea to the port town of Icener, cross the Glace Wastes to the only other town of Snowfall, go through the Snowfall Woods, climb Frostbite Peak, and claim the treasure by bringing evidence back to Coalburn.
To enter the race their is a heavy entrance fee, but luckily you have a patron. Mr. Oswald Burke is a shopkeep who collects and sells artifacts, antiques, and curious. His eccentricity goes beyond strange cloths and odd collections though. He has a odd aura about him... Possibly dangerous. But the creepy shopkeep is will to pay for basic supplies (6 day rations each, winter clothes, boat rental) and the entrance fee as long as he gets a few relics when you win.
I'd prefer we knew each other even if it was the classic "we met in a tavern brawl and decided to be friend". I am open to other back story as to how the group met.
Party size doesn't matter to me. If could wait to see if other are interested?
I will work on a backstory and post it here and put it in notes on my character sheet. It will be fairly simple, as I like to develop backstory as the adventure progresses.

Claude Windstep is a whip wielding warrior who spent years studying the winds in order to understand their power, and how he might translate that into a personal style. His studies eventually bore fruit, and he set off into the world to make his mark. After spending a short time on a ship, he’s decided to try to climb Frostbite Peak.
Can I Join? I new but I have the beginning of a folk hero monk made. Also if there is room how are we deciding stats? Jack Rowan was the son of a woodcarver and student of the monk who protected the region. Until a Lord looking for taxes massacred the village. Now he travels around looking for a purpose in life.
I think this is 7 players, but that's fine, just start at level 3. There's no special rules for stats and such so if I can just get your sheets and a quick over view of your characters, well be right as rain! I'll change the tags now.
I think those are the right tags... Welcome intrepid Adventurers!
Roll for your stats but the character you sent me looks fine. As of how to roll there is a guide at the top of the Play-By-Post forum list. Hope that helps.
To roll for stats what I do is roll four dice and add the top three highest. You do that for each stat. But that's just how I do it, there are other ways.
Frederick was once a spoiled brat, born to the Westervel family, nobles who were in good favour with the richest and most powerful people in the land. First born of his generation, Frederick was in next line to take the helm as family patriarch. The term 'Born with a Silver Spoon' would best describe his upbringing, as he never went wanting for anything, necessity or not.
However, in his teens, Frederick would agitate his family, acquiring a taste for the wilder side of the life he could afford, acting unbecoming of the future Westervel patriarch. His mouth usually got him into trouble with those who either did not know or care what his surname was, and his impressive dueling ability was considered wasted on him, his love for alcohol, turned addiction, slightly stunting his potential. At the age of 19, Frederick and a young man of another noble family would engage in a rather ugly drunken tavern scrap, embarrassing both families a great deal. Mother and Father demanded that Frederick give up his love for night life and straighten himself out, or he could find a home elsewhere. Embittered and angry, feeling that his family were siding with another noble family's spoiled brat over their own son, Frederick left home in the middle of the night, taking a small sum of money, and leaving behind a note in his bedroom. Frederick would show his family.
He would set out, and acquire fortune and prosperity greater than their own, and rather than having it handed to him because of his name, he would earn it, claim it for his own. It has been one year since Frederick's adventure has begun. The first year has seen him chase red herrings and come to terms with his own naivety due to his upbringing, all while staring down the bottom of a flagon, squandering most of the money that he had taken when he left home. But Frederick is determined to land on his feet and turn his fortune around. He is determined to have the last laugh, or die trying. Just, hopefully the former. And hopefully with a cold, frosty drink in his hand, and an excess of gold in his pockets.

He looks good! Starting level is 3-5 so you can level him up if you want.
I'd be down. A Tabaxi Great Old One Warlock. Pact of the Tome, Far Traveler. Has been compelled to search for something since birth. He believes he's met the Cat God as his patron and is recently compelled to scale Frostbite Peak.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Al makes number 5 for you'r required players correct? If I'm mistaken, and there is room. It sounds like fun.

So do we roll for stats or use standard array? Also how does rolling work for stats I am very new to this.
