Meggan gets to her feet and dusts herself off. She scoops up her weapons and gives one last nod to Diomedes before running off. You scout the rest of the hideout but find no other members of the syndicate here nor any indications of another safe house. Deeming the contract complete you gather up the remains of the wererat Raticate and present it to Rashoz back at the Clifftop House as proof of completion. Mildly disgusted by the remains he pays you the contract fees of 75 Gold each and a Bag of Holding
You spend the next few days relaxing. One evening Rashoz summons you all to the briefing room. Once you all arrive he stands from his seat. First off well done again on the Syndicate job. The wererats seem to have dispersed for the time being. You’re all being given a promotion. You’re now all Corporals, keep this up and you’ll end up out tanking me at this rate. Secondly your next assignment has been finalised.
It’s said that the legendary pirate queen Lhazaar made her home on Trebaz Sinara, and that this island holds the treasures and tombs of generations of sea lords. However, the island hasn’t been seen in over five hundred years. Many Lhazaar sailors have devoted their lives to finding the legendary lost isle.
Her ship was called the Dread Pearl, the wreck was recently sighted near Tempest Isle.
The Polyamorous Vagabond, a privateer vessel from the Lhazaar Principalities, Captained by a tiefling known as Ryder, has a commission to find the Pearl by King Boranel ir’Wynarn and any clue to the island of Trebaz Shinara. However he is in need of an away party once they locate it as he is critically understaffed.
That’s where you come in. The crown is funding this expedition and as such any loot you come across is yours to keep. The Guild is doing this pro bono for the crown. I know I know. That’s not normal operating procedure but apparently having the King owe the guild a favour is deemed better than money at this time.
Sergeant, is it usual for the crown to task a job so eminently profitable to not one, but two separate "contractors"? The crown must have many able bodies in-house. Surely there is something afoot here?
You’re correct. There is another contract being taken out by the Deathshead Guild, however my sources lead me to believe that they do not have a skyship available to them for another several days. That’s why speed is key on getting under way, we do not want to lose out to them, the may get the job done but their methods are scrupulous and collateral damage is perfectly acceptable to them. Ideally the King wants this kept under wraps, in case any of the other kingdoms get wind of it. We don’t want a diplomatic incident and no one wants the War to kick off again. Ryder will have more information for you with regards to the legend surrounding the isle and Queen Lhazaar, it’s his homeland after all.
There is clearly more going on here than we are likely to be told, for both parties to choose this time to umdertake an expedition. I do not like the thought of us being pawns in a political game, but such is the way of things. If it means limiting collateral damage, I agree with friend Rollo that we should get involved. And that we should move with haste
The next morning finds you ascending the elevator at Terminus, flashbacks of your pursuit of Gaara still fresh in your minds. You reach the sky-docks and are greeted by the sight of a frigate sized vessel encompassing your view. This is the The Polyamorous Vagabond, the hull looks in good repair and the elemental ring that is spinning slowly around it is ornately engraved with dragons and air elementals in flight.
The gangplank is lowered and a massive half-orc stands at the bottom of it overseeing the loading of provisions
Eoni walks over to the half-orc standing at the bottom of the gangplank. A small sailor hat appears out of nowhere on top of her head as she gives him an overenthusiastic mock salute with a sarcastic grin, Ready and reporting for duty ...where is Captain Ryder?
The half-orc looks up at you and grins. Oh the Capns gunna love you. Head up onto the main deck the Capn will meet you there shortly after he’s finished his meeting with First Mate Qura. If any of the crew give you jip send them my way. I’m Bosun Ironside
Once everyone is aboard the crew finish up loading supplies into the cargo holds and Ironside releases a shrill whistle and the ropes anchoring the Vagabond to Terminus release. The doors to to forecastle blow open and tiefling festooned in piercings and with a roguish air about him swaggers out, followed closely by a stern face kalashtari woman. This would appear to be the captain, Ryder, and his first mate Qura
Raise the anchor! Engage the fire ring! Turn us towards the rising sun! We have legends to forge and treasure to plunder!
Eoni pretends to fan herself down attempting to look demure and raises her hand up in the air, twiddling her fingers at Ryder in a wave, Oh cooee, Captain!
Rollo stands in the corner, mumbling a blood curse, causing his eyes to glow red to add to the intimidation, or that it’s needed thanks to his allies.
he grabs out a large pipe and begins to smoke more halfling weed

Good job. Take a few days to relax I have a potential assignment for you all. It’s a prolonged contract so the details have to be ironed out.

Aye sounds like fun it could be fun. And the chance of some awesome loot. Though this sounds like more like a hunt for undead
That’s the thing with missing pirates isn’t it.... anyway Captain Ryder is docked at Terminus and is expecting you in the morning. Good hunting

The War must never begin anew. Never.

Eoni grins back at him, Why thank you... that’s the rest of my party over there, be sure to let them on as well Mr Ironside. Very good.
She gives him another salute in parting before making her way up the gangplank skipping as she does so.
He side eyes her skipping up the gangplank, shakes his head and looks at the rest of you. Hurry up then times a wasting!
Draskan glares at Ironside as he passes, greeting him with his customary snort
