As much as I would love to make him truly alive that is beyond my knowledge. I can construct and give locomotion but there was alchemy involved to bring the Warforged to life that I was not privy to and my understanding is that the secret was lost with the alchemists when the Mourning happened, destroying Cyre, I was just lucky that I was away on assignment at the end of the war or I'd have been there when whatever happened did.
Chief enjoys the company and over the days you spend with him he tinkers with your armor. (+1 enchantment)
Draskan makes his way around the ship, observing the day to day happenings of the crew, before approaching Captain Ryder. Good day captain, tell me, what do you know of this quest and what we may face ahead of us?
Captain Ryder sits you down. First you need a bit of understanding about the principalities. Lhazaar society exists more on the open sea than on any land establishment. Those that call the few land establishments home exist to service the sea industries and every major settlement exists on the coastline while much of the interior of the islands
Lhazaar society exists more on the open sea than on any land establishment. Those that call the few land establishments home exist to service the sea industries and every major settlement exists on the coastline while much of the interior of the islands remain unexplored and uninhabited. Although the oldest settlements of Khorvaire exist in the Principalities they retain their feeling of frontier towns embraced by the beautiful and brutal environment around them. The sea princes over their own islands and every inhabitant pledges fealty to these sea princes. The princes themselves are as varied as the many rulers of the other nations of Khorvaire. Whereas one may be a tyrannical despot another might be a kind hearted ambassador of goodwill.
Lhazaar was the first one that set up Society in the Lhazaar Principalities. She gave the captains in her fleet the title Prince and created the few laws that are held thoughtout the land. The law that she is best known for is that the title Prince is not hereditary. Lhazaar nobles hold their title through the power of their armies. Should a Prince's army be defeated, the winner may lay claim that that Prince's title and land. While Lhazaar's laws are universal, the variety of people and cultures in the Principalties means that each ruler has their own peculiar code of laws and traditions. The gnomes of Lorghalen challenge any would-be Prince to tests of wits. The Elves of Farlnen want a show of Arcane skill from their ruler in addition to naval power. The Sea Princes are very independent and feud among each other. None of the islands have ever been united under a Prince, but there has always been one prince that claims the title of High Prince. Such a claim must be backed by the fact that the Prince has a strong fleet and the respect of the other princes.
There are a few laws that the people of the Lhazaar Principalities follow throughout. Foremost among them is that the princes have the right to administer justice in their own land and may appoint officers as they see fit. The Princes squabble amongst each other but will band together against an outside enemy. Like their princes, the people of the Lhazaar Principalities will set aside their differences if attacked by outsiders.
What isn’t well known is that Lhazaar had an intense hatred of the undead and was persecuted by Erandis Vol, last heir of the Blood of Vol, Queen of Kharrnath at the time. The amount of raids she conducted to halt the spread of undeath isnt recorded but legend has it that she found the phylacteries of the first liches but was unable to destroy them so she hid them away, along with the method of making more. If Kharrnath were to rediscover these items there would be no stopping them making huge armies from the casualties of the War, massively upsetting the current political power balance and reigniting the war
Why do you think I needed replacement crew? The Emerald Claw fanatics are desperate to make the Blood of Vol the dominant religion on Khorvaire and have been systematically killing and then raising anyone who gets in their way. Including my brother Stryder, who was Captain before me. The good news is it isnt just undead, the main cultists are living necromancers and bone knights, liches and vampires are still thankfully rare, but that will change if they find the hidden island before us
A week passes without note, the Vagabond making good speed East towards Tempest Isle. At dawn of the 8th day the crew raise the alarm, approaching at speed from the direction of the rising sun is another sky-ship, clearly on an intercept course. Because of the blinding rays of the sun it is impossible to make out the colours being flown. The crew head to stnad by stations incase of pirates
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Diomedes, aware that they are exposed on the deck, places his right hand on Leowin's shoulder in preparation to expend a charge from his ring just before any combat begins
He turns his eyes towards the approaching ship, trying to block the sun with his shield arm
The rays of the sun are too bright but then your musings are put to bed as a ballista is fired from the prow of the incoming vessel. A thick grapnel hooks into the buttresses of the Vagabond the steel rope affixed to it rapidly growing taut. Several more launch and land on the Vagabond, pulling the two ships so close they are almost kissing.

How is it you know so much? Have you encountered the undead before? Seems we would need some half decent weaponry

I’m guessing there will be a stop for supplies and weaponry then?
We have everything we need to get down to the shipwreck and back again. Obviously any extra loot we find on the way is yours to do with as you like

Rollo draws his new musket rifle and mutters the ancient orders words to invoke crimson rite on the weapon

The ancient rite drains some of Rollos energy, as to use such rites one must make a sacrifice.
