You arrive at Lead to Gold Alchmyst Supplies and the tinkling of a bell as the door opens let’s Hutrer know you’ve arrived. You are greeted by the sight of an usually slim dwarf with wild tufts of hair and a disheveled beard pottering toward you from behind a rack of jars holding various “ingredients”
Aaah welcome! You look like my new friends from Clifftops Adventurers Guild. Come in come in! We are expecting the ruffians any moment now!
Hutrer glances about nervously at a few volatile items. Ummm I have relocated the most expensive and explosive items already but feel free to use a vial or two of the acids of the needs arises. I’ll hide downstairs. Thank you again
Diomedes takes a look at the nearby shelves for anything that could be of use, looking chiefly for anything that could be mixed to make an airborne sleeping agent or knockout gas.
You spot two small glass vials that you recognise as containing a liquid called gearr anála that when exposed to air creates a noxious gas that causes dizziness and a loss of consciousness
Eoni suddenly transforms into a carbon copy of Hutrer and turns to the others, I’ll try and distract them ...you lot can hide and wait to ambush them until they’re all in place.
You all take positions around the shop, with Eoni pretending to be Hutrer behind the counter. It doesn’t take long before a ragtag group of shifters come into the store. One is clearly the face of this shake down crew with better clothes and a swagger a short sword on her hip. Fanning out behind her are two skinny rat featured humans in brown robes that look worse for wear and four street toughs that have a mix of shifters humans and a goblin. One locks the door to the store and flips the sign to closed while the leader of the group swaggers up to the counter. So Hutrer you’ve had a couple of days to think upon our gracious offer to protect you from the depredations of criminals here in the city. What’s yer answer?
Playing along, Eoni says, Yes, I have been thinking it over and I was wondering what if a bigger “protection agency” comes along threatening to bust up my shop? There don’t seem to be many of you... how can you ensure my business is protected? How many of you are there?
Heh don’t you worry old man there’s more than enough of us to keep you safe from the Draask or the Tyrants and even the Boromars. None of them can make any head way in this district anyways as the others will see it as a power grab and then there’d be a turf war. No no you stick with us and you’ll be right safe.
Sooo going by your theory that nobody would dare come into this district else it’d be turf war, explain to me again why I need your assistance? Eoni then gestures to them all standing there, I mean, is this all of you? Seems like I could hire my own mercenaries from, oh I don’t know, the adventurers guild to do a better job than this kind of protection...
The shifters face snarls up and starts to take on a more rodent like appearance. I see we are going to be unable to come to a peaceable agreement. Guys time to **** this skinny old midget up.

Do we know what type of people these ruffians are? Are they also dwarves?
No they seem to be shifters and humans, which is all the stranger for that district
Eoni chuckles evilly, Nothing that strange about shifters...
Hmm I feel as if some foul play is at work then

Perhaps it would be wise for you to take refuge in the back good sir. And take as many flammable items out of harms way as possible......
Maybe we could ready some defences? Or some homemade devices to use?

On seeing the shifters approaching, Leowin slips into a darker corner of the room, hoping to remain unseen
