Seeing Whistler head in, and too tired to argue the point, Umbriel caves and starts making arrangements for the horse, the surviving mule, both carts, and Owlbear. If it's easy enough to remove, he will take the box with the magic item inside with him, and will keep it in his room for safety.
Umbriel doesn't reply to the creepy woman, but makes sure the animals and carts are sorted, and with Droop's help, carries the chest upstairs to their room. "We're in for the night, I think. We'll keep an eye on things here. See you at daybreak tomorrow." Behind closed doors, Umbriel says "Droop, I don't really trust that woman. Here's something to tide you over - you keep an eye out for the first four hours while I meditate, and then you can sleep and I'll keep watch for the duration."He hands Droop a Bead of Nourishment, and takes one himself.
Droop nods. "Yes! Droop is very helpful." He turns the bead over in his hand, looking at it curiously. When he sees you eat it, he puts it in his mouth as well. His face lights up as he chews it. "Almost as good as horse!"
After he swallows the bead, he digs a ball bearing from his pouch and pops it in his mouth, and then howls in pain after trying to take a bite of it. Droop spits out the ball bearing in disgust. "Not a horse bead."
Everyone mark off a ration, and a days worth of feed.
"Well I'll be back, you guys guard the wagon. I need a drink."
Nyx takes out 7 copper and hands it to the old woman before heading for the door. "Which way to the pub?"
She pauses for a second and reply or not, heads off down the road further into town.

Sorry, I didn't see this. She points you to the Triboar Arms, a small tavern in town, The Norshield House, a rival inn, or The Pleasing Platter.
No need to use a ration if you are going to buy a drink and a meal.
Before the rest of you turn in for the night, as Tomara is showing you to your rooms she points out the stairway going up to the attic. "That's the attic. Stay out of there!"
Most of the party goes to their rooms, while Nyx and whoever is with her go for a drink and a hot meal.
About a half hour after Umbriel goes to sleep, Droop wakes him up, hissing at the door "Someone there!" You listen, and sure enough your hear Tolmara chuckling to herself right outside the door.
Not long after that Whistler notices an eyeball spying on him through the keyhole.
Baeshra also hears chuckling outside his door.
It seems that Tolmara is going from room to room and spying on the party. And she's not being very stealthy about it.
Meanwhile, after her best intentions of just having a drink, a hot meal and getting a few left overs for the others, Nyx decides a pub crawl is the best option to try the local hospitality. Starting at The Pleasing Platter and ending at The Norshield House, she drinks and sings up a storm with Ireniana. If she finds a male elf, she also tries to set him up with Ireniana.
While she's having a good time, Nyx keeps an ear out of rumours and stories about the local area.

The Pleasing Platter is a fine dining establishment. It is right next door to a grandiose inn called the Everwyvern House. The tables are far apart and screened from each other with strategically placed plants, statues and pillars. You hear the soft murmur of conversations of other patrons, and the familiar sound of soft and soothing background music played by several minstrels scattered throughout the place. The specialty tonight is smoked qual with lentil soup and a slice of blueberry pie for desert. Reverly is not tolerated here and you and Ireniana have a quiet meal, costing you 2GP each, plus 10 GP for a bottle of wine.
The Triboar Arms has just what your looking for: good ale, roasted peanuts and even shots of pretty good whiskey. You manage to strike up a conversation with Nemyth, a male tiefling who is the owner. You find out that this place has burned to the ground twice and been rebuilt twice. You are also introduced to a half-elf named Zindra Winterbow, and discover that she is a friendly and capable guide who escorts people through the nearby wilderness, and also runs security for the occasional wagon train. She has noticed more and more hill giants, ogres and Uthguard barbarians wandering the hills around Triboar recently and warns you two to be wary of them. Drinks and peanuts for the two of you cost 1 gold, with a discount that Nemyth gives you for your frequent bouts of musical performance!
The Norshield House is a fine local inn, stately, clean and quiet. Much nicer than the Six Windows. When the two of you enter, you are greeted by Urgala Meltimer. She is quite friendly but warns you to keep your blades sheathed during your stay. Urgala seems to be quite taken with Nyx, and wants to hear all about what brings you to Triboar. When she learns that you are staying at the Six Windows, she gasps. "You really should stay here from now on. That old place is cold and run down. And Tolmara is a bit crazy, ever since her husband Mirak left town with another woman. No one saw him leave, but that's what she says."
Three large mastiffs roam the common room. As you converse and sip your brandy, they occasionally put their snout on your lap and drool a little bit before wandering off to look for food scraps. Urgala also tells you about most of the businesses in Triboar. You find out where the Lionshield Coster's building is, where the blacksmiths are, the harness-maker, and even a campground for those travelers who don't want an inn. Urgala does tell you that you should talk to Darathra Shendrel tomorrow, he is the Lord Protector of Triboar. She also tells you about The Triboar Travelers where merchants hire guards to make caravan runs to Waterdeep or Everlund and back.
The brandy that you two drink at the Norshield House costs 1 gold.
When you return to your cold and drafty room at the Six Windows, you discover that Tolmara is also spying on you through the keyhole and chuckling to herself.
Nyx pays for it all and in general has a great time before heading back. A little inebriated, she makes sure she offers everybody some wine once she returns, even if she has to wake them up
She's up and ready in the morning to go get breakfast. She also goes through everything that she learnt.
Upon waking, Baeshra seeks out Whistler, “I’m going to check out this attic, let the others know.” And changes into a regular sized spider and climbs up there to take a look.
Wow! You have no problem getting out of your room, up the stairs and into the attic as a spider.
The attic is even colder than your cold room. It's dusty and one side is filled with crates and a few chests that haven't been touched in a long time. The other side has old moth-eaten clothes hanging from a rack.
The only thing out of place is a pile of bones in one corner, faced towards a window.
Umbriel and Droop will haul the chest back down to the cart and get the animals ready to go. Once everything is loaded, Umbriel will stay with the cart, trying to puzzle out why the old woman was just so darn creepy.

Yes, you'll need one person on each end of the chest with the magic item inside.
"You can stable your horse and mule out around back, there's some hitching posts."
"Come on in, come on in!"
Tolmara shows you to your rooms, each of you getting one, with Droop bunking up with Umbriel.

Baeshra ignores the spying for the moment, and settles in for some rest, more intent on exploring that attic in the morning.
Were you trying to steal the wine? If so, you were able to steal a mostly full bottle from another table as you walked by.
Alright, the night passes, cold and drafty in the old building. No one sleeps very well, but a Long Rest is had.
