Umbriel will immediately note Baeshra's change in stance, and attempt an insight check: 18
Agreeing with Rosie, Umbriel says "Yes, and in the event we can turn it to advantage, coming in through the tunnel will possibly deliver us the element of surprise. Sildar, we will return once the thugs have been dealt with." There is a note of grim finality in Umbriel's last sentence.
Whistler, running a speech through his mind about those who take advantage of others and having the moral courage of standing up to tyranny opens his beak, "KAW!" 'Well done brain. Exactly what I wanted to say.' he thought to himself sarcastically, taking the first swig of the day.

" Well...I can't say we're being idle at all, who would have thought so much would be happening in such a little town? I suspect thats life on the surface though...you never know whats going to happen."
Umbriel will follow as well, walking with Lyngheid. "I suppose that smaller towns have the same problems as bigger towns, but fewer people like us to solve them. It is indeed fortuitous that we find ourselves here and able to make a difference." There's an almost upbeat note in his voice as he walks along, toward the task at hand.
The party follows the map to Alderleaf farm, where they see a middle aged female halfing picking lettuce out of her garden. She looks up as the group approaches.
"Hello travelers, how are you? I'm Qelline Alderleaf, owner of this farm. Is there something I can do for you? A nice bunch of radishes, or a head or two of lettuce perhaps?"
"Good day, madam. We're looking for your son, Carp - is he here? We are Adventurers, working on behalf of the town, and his friend Pip said they wanted to become adventurers themselves. Now, I wouldn't dream of giving him advice counter to your wishes - if you want him to stay at home, we'll convince him that the adventuring life is not a safe one, and that he needs to stay close to assist you and yours. If you support his desire, then we can provide guidance that would keep him safe. Either way, we'd like to counsel the boy and give him the information he needs to be happy and successful." Umbriel treads carefully, trying to read the woman's expression, putting emphasis on the fact that he'd never dream of offending her regarding her son.
"Yes, he does want to be an adventurer, bless his heart."
She looks you over.
"So, let me get this straight. The six of you, out of the goodness of your hearts came all this way to counsel my little boy in the ways of adventuring? That sounds a little odd, if you don't mind me saying."
OOC: Throw an intimidation or deception check in with your next response (depending on the response), or neither if you tell her the truth.
"Well, to be perfectly honest, we're here because he found something, and we need his help to get a job done. However, we don't want to encourage him unnecessarily, as this can be a dangerous profession and I was trying to see how you felt on the matter before speaking to him."
Harbin gulps. "It just seems a little harsh, that's all."
Those making an insight check of 12 or more can read the spoiler below.
Harbin is a pompous fool to be sure, but you can tell that he is genuinely intimidated by the Redbrands.

"Very well, carry on then!"
(Do we need to roll anything to find this tunnel?)
No, not if you go talk to Carp Alderleaf and ask him to show you where it is.
Baeshra will head out looking for him with the others, leaving his mule at the inn.

OOC: No deception necessary.
"I see. You are doing a job, aye? I appreciate your obvious intent to consult me before my son."
She turns towards the house. "Carp! Come out here please!"
And then back to the group. "So, what kind of job is it. Are you looking for something, hmm?"

Qelline seems to be pretty wise and pragmatic. You get the sense that she knows quite a bit about what you are doing in town.
Ireniana Insight check - 7
Ireniana crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow before nodding.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Qelline leans on her hoe: "What are you looking for?"
Ireniana turns to Qelline. "We've heard there's some trouble around here and we're taking care of it."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Qelline nods: "That's good. It is time for the Redbrands to be dealt with. But you came all the way to Phandalin just to deal with the Redbrands?"
"I'm here for gold!" , Whistler mimics.
