Baeshra cocks his head for a moment, thinking (how far is it from ship to dock?), "That is one possibility. I could also cover the dock or gangway with thorns, making it very painful to cross and weaken them if they charge us."

Umbriel grins. "Spike growth on the dock, lure them down the gangway, I shrink it when the first is across and in the spikes, and drop whoever follows into the water. Nyx, Lyngheid, and Droop, cut the lines and let the ship drift, and be ready for dockside action, yes?"
Droop nods as well, and pulls out his short sword, going to the nearest line.
If everyone is on board with this plan, Baeshra, cast your Spike Growth, and then what's the plan to lure the wolves and frost giant out and down the gangway and onto the dock?
Plan would be to cast the spike growth pretty much where you've got us standing and move us all off to one side or the other. As far as a plan to draw them out, could Umbriel actually cast enlarge/reduce, which I think is what he's planning, on the ship itself?
(That's a DM question - the spell doesn't specify other than a range of 30 feet, but if the ship is too large to shrink, Umbriel would just cast the spell on the gangplank when someone is on it. As for getting their attention, Umbriel can cast Minor Illusion and make a loud sound happen - anyone know any giantish curse words?)

The spell description for Enlarge/Reduce lists "Range/Area", so it wouldn't work on the whole ship. But it would on the gangway.
OK, so Baeshra is coating the gangway in spikes, which will slow them down and cause damage for every 5 feet they travel, and then Umbriel is going to shrink it when they get close to the edge so it drops them into the water.
And to get their attention, Umbriel will use make a loud nordic curse with Minor Illusion.
Everyone will move to the shore-side of the gangway, and wait to unleash havoc.
Do I have that right? If so, go ahead and start by casting the Spike Growth spell when you are ready.
Butchering the pronunciation, Umbriel casts Minor Illusion and emits a loud "Hey, rassgat!" at the top of the gangway. He then starts weaving his Reduce spell, holding it according to the plan.
Seeing the giant and both wolves on the gangplank at the same time is too tempting a target for Umbriel, so as soon as Lyngheid's spell hits, he'll shrink the plank and dunk as many as he can.
Lyngheid sends a Guiding Bolt at the Giant, who manages to duck out of the way. As soon as the Bolt leaves her hand, Umbriel releases his shrink spell! It's like a cartoon as the gangway shrinks beneath them, the giant and the wolves seem suspended in mid-air for an instant. Dex Saves:
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The Frost Giant looks down as the gangway disappears beneath him and then plunges into the frigid sea! The front wolf makes a mad scramble and reaches the dock, yelping as it takes 4 piercing damage.
The rear wolf claws at the hull of the ship as it plunges to the sea!
OK, those were the held actions, now we enter initiative. Take your first round turns if higher than 8:

Spike Growth
About 10 feet. The gangway is about 15 feet long.
Baeshra nods, and moves to get ready near the dock.
Droop nods as well, and pulls out his short sword, going to the nearest line.

(Would draconic work?)
( Lyngheid knows all of them.

Baeshra initiative: 13
Baeshra casts spike growth on the dock at the end of the gangway, not on the gangway itself, and nods to Umbriel to get things started.

Lyngheid readies a Guiding Bolt if needed...
