Taking the signet ring, you retrace your steps to the second floor and reopen the secret passage behind the fireplace. The iron chest sits where you left it. Pressing the ring to the circular indentation makes the lid pop open a couple inches.
Inside you find a black iron helm, a row of spikes insted of a crest suggests that it was designed for battle and not for parades. Next to the helmet are pair of dark iron gauntlets on the same intimidating style.
Lia takes a moment to cast detect magic as a ritual, on the items. Once done, regardless of the results, she glances to the others. "These look like warrior gear." She says, nodding to the items. "I'd like to study them when we rest next, to see if I can figure out any magical properties, but I might not be the best person to make use of them."
"Indeed, they look like what a heavily armored warrior would wear" Lothlién agrees. "That doesn't mean I'm excited to know if they're magical and what they can do!"
You barricade the door and wait for Lia to perform her ritual. After she finishes, both items glow with magical auras that only she can see. The gauntlets emit a lustrous golden sheen suggesting that transmutation is involved, while the helm darkens its surroundings with a basic brown with subtle hints of depth, indicating illusion and trickery.
Lia takes the gauntlets. The dark metal on the outside covers a soft leathery inside that molds to her hands as she tries them. She feels stronger wearing the gauntlets, but the effect seems to be only on her mind for now. Maybe if there were more time to get used to them she could reap the benefits of the gauntlets of ogre power.
Meanwhile, Xarroth turns the helm around in his hands. It seems to be forged out of a single piece of metal, with no apparent seams. As he tries it on, it completely obscures his face from everyone else and makes his eyes glow red. The effect ends as he takes the helm out to keep looking at it. The dragonborn concludes that it's a dread helm.
"I don't think any of us is particularly wll-suited for such gauntlets. On the other hand, that's why they may come in.... handy - forgive the pun. In case we need some heavy-lifting or anything like that..."
"I will use them then." Lia says. "They will be useful if, when I try to hypnatize someone, that they resist my power. In that case these will help me hit harder." She waves the gauntlets as she says the last.
"Not sure what to do with the helm." Lia says with a frown at it. "Likely bring it with and try to sell it in town." She has no wish for it as she slips the gauntlets back on and steps away from the chest. "If either of you wish to wear it, then feel free, I don't have any use for it." She would help clear anything else out of the chest, then be ready to move back to the throne room.
"It certainly has an impressing look... but I bet there are people who would benefit from it more than us, and that would be willing to pay us or trade for something more useful for our purposes" Lothlién adds to Lia's statement about the helm, following her.
Stashing the helm away in a backpack, you go back to the throne room. The fortress is eerily quiet, only your footsteps break the silence.
As you exit the stairs back to the throne room you see that the dead ghouls are exactly as you left them. Ignoring the double doors on the north wall and the two small ones next to it, you start with the single door on the west wall. It leads to a chamber you can easily identify as the dining room. A carved stone table (15 feet long by 5 feet wide) dominates the space, flanked by a pair of equally long wooden benches.
The dining room has a fireplace on the north wall and an open door on the south wall, leading to the kitchen. Open cupboards reveal metal dishware, utensils and drinking mugs. Next to a large oven is a stone sink, equiped with a faucet.
"Absolutely" Rhok says with enthusiasm in his voice

(Do you allow the short-rest to identify? I cannot recall if you do or do not.)
OOC: yes, and you could take a short rest of you want.
Lia takes a short rest and takes time to study the guantlets first. She would ask one of the others to study the helm.
Xarroth will try and deduce the properties of the black iron helm, prepared to accept they may not be for someone with his particular talents...
Lothlién will attend to his wounds while his friends examine the magical items

"These gauntlets make one stronger." Lia says, taking them off. She looks around at the others. "Anyone want them?"
"Im more of the dextrous type, not much strength in these arms" Rhok replies "Would they be of better use to one of you?"

Lothlién investigates the place, looking for anything important. He also opens the faucet to check if there's still running water
