Xarrothdoes not like how close the creature has got and magically swirls a cold wind within in hands while incantations flow in Draconic. The swirls of ice and cold reflect around the creature in hopes to do some damage and assist...
Frost forms in the monster's caparace. It moves away from the flaming sphere and positions itself to spit acid at 3 and 1 (1: Lia, 2: Xarroth, 3: Rhok, Lothlién moved behind the cabin)
Lia and Rhok make a DC 13 dex save, take 8 acid damageon a fail, half on a pass.
After spitting green acid, the monster digs underground collapsing the tunnel behind it. The ground looks as if a plow had disturbed it, you can smell the damp soil as the monster goes down.
OOC: combat is over, we are out of initiative order.
"Damn thing!" Lothliénexclamates, coming back from his cover. "I hope it's is gonne for good. If it comes back with some friends, that'd be trouble..." He takes a pause and then asks his companions "Are you alright?"
"Was anyone able to identify the creature? His Shimmering Scales, if I were to guess, it could be a magical abomination!" Xarroth joins the others and offers his simplespells to help repair the damage from the spewed acid.
"That stung a bit." Lia says with a frown at the ground. "Hard to say how many of those things there are, but I would doubt it is alone." She looks to the door to the cabin. "Can we get inside there? It is likely safer than out here, if someone is still alive in there after all."
"I think that may be a safe idea for the moment, is Vincent far enough away to not attract it?" Rhok says and checks the hole entrance to see if he can tell if anything else is coming back
After the tension from the fight passes, Lothlién recalls that the creature you just fought is known as an Ankheg. They live underground in tunnels that almost always collapse after they had burrowed through the earth. They tend to lurk in meadows or farmlands, eating any animal they can. It seems odd that they would be in the middle of a forest.
Vincent was left under a large tree at least 600 feet away from your position. Rhok feels confident that the ox will quietly ruminate without wandering around.
From inside the cabin you can faintly hear muffled whimpering. The person inside is trying not to make noise.
"You have a choice." Lia calls loudly to the person inside. "Either unlock the door and let us in, or we break it down, and we'll all be exposed to these creatures then."
"You have a choice." Lia calls loudly to the person inside. "Either unlock the door and let us in, or we break it down, and we'll all be exposed to these creatures then."
"You are still alive?" the voice replies with surprise "give me just a second." Noises from inside indicate that furniture is being dragged out of the doorway, and a clinking sound suggest a chain being unlocked. Moments later, a scared looking human opens the door.
"My name is Tibor Wester", the man introduces himself. He bears some resemblance to Phandalin's townmaster, but his head is balding and a large mustache covers his upper lip. His clothes are surprisingly clean for his disheveled state, and he is doing his best to act as if he were in charge of the situation. "You have my gratitude for taking care of the monsters, I would have you escort me back to Phandalin as soon as we look for other survivors in the camp."
OOC: I'm getting email notifications about new posts two days late.
"Let's look around, then" Lothlién proposes. "As we search, can you tell more about what is going on around here? Was that monster the only touble around? And when did it happen?"

"We are just felling trees for timber. One of my men said that he saw one of the burrowing monsters nearly 5 days ago, but they only attacked the camp yesterday." Tibor replies. "I did not count how many appeared, but there were all over the place."
"These things, the Ankhegs, they're not a common sight on forested areas like this. Do you know if anything may have pushed them away from their usual open fields?" Lothliénasks next.

Lothlién's face changes to a subtle half-smile with the way Lia deals with the conflict. He kinda wanted to do the same thing, but hesidated.
There are windows on three sides of the cabin, but all of them have been barred from the inside, preventing anyone from looking in.

Xarroth stops and points at the man, "you bear resemblance to the townmaster of Phandelin. You two are... related?"
"We are just felling trees for timber. One of my men said that he saw one of the burrowing monsters nearly 5 days ago, but they only attacked the camp yesterday." Tibor replies. "I did not count how many appeared, but there were all over the place."
"Just a tad shocked, my dear man, it will soon pass."
Turning to Xarroth, Tibor answers "Harbin is my half-brother. We grew up together, but politics are not for me. I prefer an honest job."
"These things, the Ankhegs, they're not a common sight on forested areas like this. Do you know if anything may have pushed them away from their usual open fields?" Lothlién asks next.
