You wake in the morning having completed a long rest, procure your five sheep easily, and set off.
This is not quite the lush green fields of Felderwin that you've seen up to now. Alton, as a local you know that parts of the region are mountainous and better suited for sheepherding, but you've never been here before, and it's strange to think that this is not really so far from your home village. You start the trek towards the home of Gunit and the likely location of the giant problem you are here to resolve. The path is narrow and steep, though not too dangerous at first, but it takes you up and above the valley and the air is definitely getting colder as the morning progresses. The skies are clear and the sun bright but less warming than you might hope. There is little forest, and ahead you see mountains with snowy peaks up ahead, the Ashkeeper Peaks that separate the Dwendalian Empire from Xhorhas.
Now it's the middle of the day. You stand on the side of a hill which slopes down, not too gently. The trail you have followed, marked by piles of stones every few hundred feet, has led you to a single small stone building with a thatched roof, standing on the side of the hill about two hundred feet ahead of you. You see two small fields or pastures, all empty. The door to the small farmhouse is closed, and you do not see anyone or anything moving around, whether humanoid, giant or sheep.
Alton will head over to the fields and see which one would be better to put the sheep into and look around for any evidence of giants. "That is if we are really hunting giants. From what we have heard, though, that does seem likely."

Silent, you enter the door to the farmhouse; it was ajar. There's no sign of any damage or disturbance inside; it looks like the sparse home of a relatively poor and single halfling man.
Alton, you take a look at the fields; they are both in good condition, though with only five sheep the smaller of the two would be more suitable. You notice lots of tracks and churned up mud in and around the pastures, though the fences and gates have not been broken. You also notice that on the far side of the farmhouse, on the exterior wall that was not in sight as you approached, there appears to be some writing. It's in a runic script, not the standard common alphabet that you are used to.
Since the home doesn't appear to show any signs of disturbance, Silent isn't especially comfortable sifting through someone else's personal belongings. He'll leave the house and look for the others.
Alton looks over at Silent from the fields, "Well, there is a lot of turned up mud and tracks. There is some writing on the wall over there, but I can't read it. Also, nothing appears to be broken." Alton points to the wall with the writing as he talks, "Oh, and this smaller field would be good to use for the sheep. Would you guys be okay with staying inside of the house when we start keeping a lookout?"

Balassar just nods "Sounds like a plan I'll go tie them up and we'll see what comes along." he says moving the field as he begins to tie down the sheep.
The rest of the day passes with Silent on watch, but you don't see anything. There's no sign of movement from any creature nearby, except for a few birds flying overhead.
While Alton makes his search outside, Silent stays in the house and says to Balassar and Wash, You think these beasties are... what's that word for folks who sleep during the day and come out to play at night? Nocfernal? Maybe we'll need to stay awake after sunset and wait for them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Balassar just nods as he keeps a look out, occasionally looking around the surroundings trying to see something. As silent mentions that the giants might be nocturnal he just nods "Could be, we could always take watch. This seems like a safe location to hold up."
Alton heads back to the others after his walk around. "Hey, I found more tracks heading east and back up into the mountains. That gives us an idea of where to keep an eye out, at least."

Alton is good with waiting until morning, with it being so late.

(OOC: Yep, confirming that plan and deducting the requisite money)
Balassar just smiles ordering drinks, a meal, and a room. In the morning he will look for 5 sheep to acquire for their baiting plan.
OOC:
I'm also good with that.

What would you like to do?
Silent shrugs and looks at the others. Reckon there ain't no giants squeezed into that house, eh? I say we head in.
Unless any of the others object to this course of action, he'll try the door of the farmhouse and, if it is unlocked, open it and walk inside.

The others are (I assume) still outside and waiting for you.
Didn't look like anyone messed about inside in the house. You lads find anythin'?

Balassar, it's easy enough to secure the sheep.
If you are keeping a lookout, then give me Perception checks. Otherwise, let me know what you're doing.
Silent nods at Alton's suggestion and will stay in the house when keeping a lookout.

Sunset is approaching.
Alton will take some time to walk around the house and fields seeing if the tracks have a common direction of travel.

Alton, you do find some tracks headed east and up further into the mountains, though you do not believe you could follow them in the dark.
