"Ah, well, you see, family yes. Not twins. More a kind of magical simulacra kinda deal is what we've got going here. Really, he's me and I'm him and we're also the others, though I suppose Prime is the original. But he's out at the moment, otherwise I'm sure he'd be happy to meet you folks. It's a shame we can't do any enchanting for you the way things are these days with the war and all. He's really into enchanting you see. Loves nothing more than a fresh challenge."
Magical simu... ah, yeah, I got you. Makes perfect sense.
With most of everything the shopkeeper has said going way over Silent's head, he pulls back and doesn't have anything he's particularly interested in purchasing for himself (though he leaves the potions on the counter in case a trade for store credit is negotiated).
No, I'm afraid not. I'm not really much for haggling, you see. Though I know there's many folks who enjoy it. But you do have your potions to trade in - if you're all together and sharing I mean. So maybe you can find something else you like that will add up to the one thousand three hundred? He gestures encouragingly around the shop, though there isn't quite the large range of items that you suspect there might have been in more peaceful times.
Afraid not. We used to have some goggles that could do that, but sold them over a year ago to a fella from the Menagerie Coast. I could make you a scroll that you could use to cast a spell. It would take a day to get ready, and it would only work the once. And that's only if any of you are of the spellcasting persuasion. Would that be any use?
So you're looking at selling the two potions for 1300 gold, and buying the jade talking stones for 400 gold and the cloak for 850 gold, so you need to spend another 50 gold or more...
Two hundred and fifty gold, but I wouldn't want to sell you something you can't use. That wouldn't be fair dealing, if you know what I mean. What kind of magic do you specialise in?
Alton scratches his chin thinking, "Bard magic, if that is a thing. I'm not too familiar with the kinds of magic, I didn't study it. Magic just sort of happens for me when I tell a story, play music, or insult someone. A friend that traveled with us for a while said he made a deal with someone to get magic, I do know that is a thing."

Oh, then I don't think you can use this then. I mean, you can go ahead and buy it and try if you like, but I'd advise against it and I'm afraid I couldn't offer you a refund if it doesn't work. And if I were you, and please take this advice in the sincere and friendly manner it's intended, but it's not a good idea to go making deals with powerful creatures with motives and plans you don't understand. I guess it works out for some, but for others it can go really really bad.
He seems a little deflated, but perks up quickly: Now, I do have other things that can help you in the darkness. I have a couple of useful lanterns if you'd like to take a look?
(Darkvision isn't on the Bard spell list, unless Alton has a feature that would allow him to cast it?)
(Darkvision is not on the bard's spell list, I'd have to grab it using one of the Magical Secrets features the bard gets.)
Alton nods, "Thanks, I'll keep that advice in mind. Maybe if we find a magic scroll in our adventures, I'll give using it a try. Do the lanterns do anything?"

Well, they light up where you are, but they do something else as well. The shopkeeper pulls two items down from the shelves behind him, and puts them on the counter.
The first is a cylinder of iron with what looks like a window in the shape of a glass eye in one side. This here requires oil, regular oil to burn, just like a regular lantern. But if there's any invisible creatures around, or invisible objects, they'll glow brightly and be clear as day when the lantern's light shines on them. I'll take three hundred gold for it.
The second looks to be made of brass, and is smaller, more expensive-looking. This one also needs oil, but this one you can use for tracking. It can detect a certain type of creature, and if one of those is nearby it will glow a greenish colour. At the moment it's set to look for undead, because that's what the previous owner needed it for; she sold it after her job was done. I'll charge you three hundred gold for it, and I can change the enchantment to any other kind of creature you like, as many times as you like, for fifty gold each time. It can only have one at a time mind, and you'll need an enchanter like me to change it.
Silent, there's a curtain blocking the way and though you get glimpses of movement from the other side, it's hard to know for sure who's there.
While Balassar checks out the cloak, Silent leans over the counter and says, Must be nice working with family, eh? You the younger or older twin?

Sounds good. Alton and Balassar, what's the plan?
Balassar just blinks at the price “Anyway you’d be willing to do 527 gold?”

Alton holds up the jade stones, “We can add these too, and lastly do you have anything to help with seeing in the dark?”

(OOC: If he has any healing potions for sale maybe we pick up one of those?)
(OOC: I think he is out of stock of healing potions.)
Alton thinks, "That could be useful. I don't know if I can use scrolls, I've never tried. How much would the scroll be?"

Alton looks to Silent and Balassar, "What do you two think? Either of those lanterns sound good?"

Silent's eyes have gone wide at the mention of the invisibility-seeing lantern - he points at it and says That one's got my vote.
Balassar nods "Yeah, that should be a priority for us. Could really help."
