Alton is about to let out sigh when the band stops, but his eyes go wide when the start up with a tambourine and just face palms. Seeing the bartender look in his direction he will wave them over.

The bartender looks away, continuing to serve other customers, but is now aware of you. Ten minutes later there's enough of a pause that he makes it to you exactly at the moment of a blissful interlude of quiet between the band's last song and the next one.
"Of course. And I'll give you a discount, since we've fewer travellers in town owing to the war and all. 4 silver per room - how many do you need?" The half-elf is polite, friendly even, but keeps getting pulled in different directions by patrons calling for drinks, and steps away for a minute to serve other customers, but he's back quickly.
“Oh, that’s great. Thank you. Um, I’ll take three if you have that many available, if not two should be good.” Alton says, he also points his thumb at the band that is playing. “Do they always sound that bad or are they just having an off day?”

"We have three, more if you need them. No, they're always bad. They used to be worse. Maybe in a few years, they'll be bearable. But the patrons enjoying booing them and throwing food scraps, so it's all good entertainment, right?" The half-elf takes Alton's money and provides three large iron keys with little wooden labels showing the room numbers.
Alton starches his chin, “For the patrons I guess, but being on the receiving end isn’t that fun. Do you know how hard it is to get the smell of rotten vegetables out of your hair and clothes? Oh, do you have any suggestions on places to go for someone’s first time in Zedash?”

Oh, the Pentamarket, to be sure. Don't mind yourself about the TriSpires; you get a nice enough view of them from here, and all the fun is in the rest of the city. You a religious type? There's the Hearth of the All-Hammer in the Pentamarket, or the Valley Archive and Platinum House in the Innerstead Sprawl."
Alton slides the barkeep three more silver and takes the keys, "Thank you sir. Those sound like great places to start." He hops down from his seat and heads back outside to his friends. Once back with them, he holds up the keys, "Hey guys, I got us all each a room."

Alton, you find Silent and Balassar waiting outside as you left them, the street getting busier and very dark as night has fallen, though there is some illumination from windows and lanterns that passers-by are carrying.
Silent absently throws the empty bottle of liquor over one shoulder, ambles over to Alton and takes one of the keys. Thanks, Alton. Reckon we should turn in for the night, then? Big day tomorrow, handing this lot over (he jerks his head in the direction of the carriage).
Alton looks a Silent with a raised eyebrow, “I guess so.” He goes over to Balassar and hands him a key, “ Why don’t you two go on ahead. I’m sure both of you want to have a few more drinks and some rest. I’ll keep an eye on our cargo and make sure no one messes with it.”

Balassar just nods to Alton "Sounds good, maybe we should do a rotating schedule that overlaps? Don't know how long it'll be until the Lawmaster actually decides to come pay us a visit."

Silent, a pair of Crownsguard on patrol walk past you. They eye you, and the carriage, and move on.
What's Alton doing? And where's Balassar?
Alton is waiting patently at the bar, rocking on the seat a little.

The bartender glances in Alton's direction. :)
The performers end one dire monstrosity and begin a new one. This one has a tambourine.

"What can I get you?" he asks.
“Do you have any rooms available? My two friends and I just got into the city and were directed here.”

Balassar just stays in the driver seat of the carriage keeping an eye out for anything that looks out of place.

Balassar just looks around “Appreciate the gesture, but we’ll have sometime for drinks later. Let’s just hand this stuff off first.”
“You’re right. I’ll still watch the wagon if you wanted to get some rest.” Alton says.
