They run, and don't look back. The small camp is silent again, and you are able to go back to sleep and complete your long rest. I assume Magnum recasts Alarm if needed, but nothing triggers.
A few days later, and you are approaching the gates of the city of Feolinn. Silent, you have been here before, though only briefly. It's known as the Garden City, partly because it's near the beautiful Plumgroves which are a popular destination for a day out, but also because of the lovely gardens that decorate the city itself - the richer parts at least.
The gate seems to be open and traffic is passing through without incident. It's about midday when you arrive, and it looks like it might rain soon, though not too heavily. What would you like to do in the city?
Silent, you mentioned heading towards the Lyrical Star, a musical instrument shop where you might buy a lute. You were also given the names of a few well-known lute players, of which two stick in your mind. One is Elspa Corinnian, an elven bard who plays regularly in the middle-class taverns and gives private performances. The other is Honntor Koren, a gnome teacher of the lute who rarely performs in public but has a reputation as the trainer of many well-known lute players.
You got an address with the name, so it doesn't take you too long to get into the city and find the Lyrical Star. The guards don't look twice at Silent, and though look interested in Magnum, they don't seem shocked to see what looks like a construct that might be accompanying its master.
The shop looks nice enough, clean and bright inside and as you enter a voice calls, Welcome, welcome, do step inside.
An elven woman sits in a chair by the window, and she clearly observed your approach. She appears to be tuning or restringing a lyre. She doesn't stand, but she gestures to the shop. Welcome to the Lyrical Star.
On the walls you see, on shelves and on hooks, in cases and in various states of repair, more instruments than you have ever seen in your life, many you do not recognise.
Perhaps half the instruments here appear to be of a single make - you would guess hers or her workshop's. The other half look to be second hand, not the finest of the fine but all good quality.
If there are any standout instruments, you didn't spot them with that roll. There's a viol with some gold inlay, two nice pan flutes that look newly made, and two large lyres are resting against, and partially obscuring, a set of bagpipes with a colourful blue and yellow bag.
Silent gives a slight bow to the shopkeeper. Hoy there Miss - mighty fine selection you've got here. In the market for a lute myself - any recommendations for someone getting back into the art?
Welcome, young man. She frowns. What an interesting accent. I can't quite place it. In any case, why don't you take that old thing over there, she points to a lute lying on the counter, and show me your.... style.
As soon as Silent starts to play, Magnum uses all three uses of Magical Tinkering to: 1) make one of his shirt buttons emit an techno beat like oontz oontz oontz, and 2) make two of pins he pulls from a pouch to glow brightly. He will then twirl them around like it's a rave.

Silent, make a Deception check. :)
(OOC: Can Magnum assist with this roll so he can get advantage?)
(No, sorry. If it were an Intimidation check then yes, but as you said, Magnum is a terrible liar.)
Deception 10
Yes, sirl Clear as freshwater, sir. He looks nervous, but seems to be panicking a bit less. Right? he asks his companion.
Yes, sir, the other replies.
Silent leans into the first one, and picks him up by the collar hoisting his feet a few inches off the ground.
Almost nose to nose with the man, he snarls Then get the hell out of here and let me go to sleep, pissant, and lets go of him.

Well Magnum, looks like we're in the stomping grounds o' those mercs we roughed up. Guess we should keep our heads up, eh?
Silent dons his hood and, so long as Magnum does not have any more pressing concerns, will make the Lyrical Star his first stop.
I have no pressing concerns, though I am curious if we should look for a bit of work while we're here. Maybe fatten our purses a touch.

Magnum visually inspects the craftsmanship. He doesn't touch anything.
Magnum, make a Perception check as you look over the instruments.
Perception - 8

Is there one that looks particularly good?

Silent picks up the lute and inspects it - does he feel confident using it based on his proficiency with lutes?
